Bible Verse of The Day – 6-30-21

Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) 6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

An angel of God had come to Zechariah with a vision that was meant to comfort a remnant of the people of Israel, who were in exile.

They longed to be able to return to their homeland, Israel.

Their heart’s desire was to rebuild the temple of God and wait upon the return of the Messiah, bringing the fulfillment of God’s promises to His people.

They were up against circumstances that looked impossible by human logic and human understanding.

But, as the angel spoke to Zechariah, he assured him that God had a plan, and that it would be fulfilled.

The catch, though, was that these plans would not be carried out by traditional power or might, but by the Spirit of God Himself.

This is very fitting for us today.

We are witnessing so many events on a global level that are 100% evil in their origins, displaying corruption on a scale not seen before by most of us.

And it makes us wonder what will happen next. How will this evil be overcome and brought to its knees? How will justice prevail in such times as these, where depravity is the norm for so many?

I don’t have the exact answer, nor the timing of it. But know this; God is on His throne, and none of this is too big for Him.

None of this has caught Him by surprise. Evil will be crushed, in one way or another.

And while I may not have an exact answer as to how it will play out, I know beyond a doubt that it will not be by human might nor power, but 100% by the hand of God, by His Spirit.

In that, I rest. In that, I hold confidence. And in that, I have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-29-21

Proverbs 10:28 (NKJV) 28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

Who are the righteous? Those who believe in Jesus Christ, God’s Son. We are the righteous.

Through His salvation comes great joy! And that joy is what keeps us going.

It is alive in us as we continue each day to find the good in all things. Joy comes when we see the beauty in things. Joy will be our best friend if we welcome it and all its goodness.

Where do we find joy? It comes from God. It’s His joy!

He gives us ears to hear it and eyes to see it in the people and things around us.

We find it in creation; the roaring sea, the calm lakes, the birds, the plants and the sky.

We find joy in our hearts when we find God Almighty and His wonders through life and through His words.

There is great joy in knowing His Son, who gave us the hope of eternity with the Father.

We find joy in those things that might mean nothing to others, but we know that our Creator had His hand in them.

Joy comes in the morning when we get up and say, “God gave me the breath of life, and I am breathing and alive because of Him”.

Joy is everywhere. Let it have its way in us.

It will give believers strength to carry on God’s task throughout this earth; joy unspeakable and full of glory.

He is Our Lord, God forever and ever. Rejoice with joy in Him today. Amen.

1 Peter 1:8 (NKJV) 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory…

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-28-21

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

One of the things about Jesus that’s important to understand is that many of the things He said had more than just a literal meaning. He spoke symbolically very often, so there would often be a literal meaning to what He said, as well as a spiritual meaning.

This is true with the verse above.

Truth, when it is shared with us or when we get a revelation of it, will set us free if we embrace that truth and take action based on what we have come to understand.

As we do that, change will begin to happen, setting us free from lies or ignorance that once had a hold on us and kept us in bondage.

This is a literal statement made by Jesus.

If we move to chapter 14 of the book of John, we will see a similar statement that Jesus made, but with deep spiritual significance.

Remember what Jesus said about the truth setting us free? Check this out.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Contrary to the literal statement He made in chapter 8, this time Jesus spoke in a way that probably baffled many of those who heard His words.

He stated boldly that He is the truth, and that no one can come to the Father except through Him.

So, once we understand that the truth will set us free, we have to understand that Jesus is that truth. He is the One who will give us true freedom if we put our faith in Him.

The literal truth, if we embrace it, can give us freedom from bad habits, addictions, etc.

But Jesus can set us free from our sin, making us new creations, if we apply His blood to our lives.

The literal truths that we embrace will change things in the here and now.

But Jesus (the Truth) will change things in an eternal way that will alter our destiny forever.

Jesus made many bold statements with significant meanings during His short time here on earth. As with this one, they were all very important for us to understand.

We hope this will shed some light on this one and bring new understanding for you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-21

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

What does God think about us? Does He think about us the same way that He thought about Jeremiah?

I have heard people say to me when things were going wrong, “God is punishing us” for not doing certain things. They are distraught and scared because they messed up, and now they feel like they are doomed.

It’s true that God will chasten those He loves, so correction will come at times. We should expect this at times.

But God’s correction and chastening is done out of love and compassion.

He knows us well and He knows what will get our attention, to help us head down the right track.

We want you to remember today who our Father is and how He thinks of us even when we are down and out because of foolish moves we may have made.

He knows that it’s our fault most times. He knows we are not going to be perfect.

As we repent and keep trying to beat whatever it is that keeps knocking us back, He is fighting for us.

Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

God does have good thoughts toward you, just like He did toward Jeremiah.

He does have a future and hope for you.

He will be there for you when you call on Him, in the name of His Son, Jesus. And when we go after Him with all our heart, we will find Him and His answers for us!

He loves you very much. He’s not hiding.

He is usually right where we left Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-25-21

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Because our God is so incredibly mighty, we tend to look for and expect that everything He does will be a massive show of signs and wonders.

You know; smoke, earthquakes, thunder and lightning, etc.

Because of this, we tend to overlook the simplistic ways that He does most things because they’re just too, you know, simple.

And so it is with temptation.

We have somehow come to believe that in order to fight temptation we need to have some secret formula of special prayers, the laying on of hands and the casting out of demons in order to be able to fight off temptation when it comes.

On the contrary, God tells us that we need to resist the devil and he will flee from us.

Now that doesn’t sound very complicated, does it?

Nope!

Maybe it’s time that we stop overcomplicating so many things and just take God at His word, even if it’s very simple and direct, with no bells, whistles, flashing lights or miraculous signs attached.

Being tempted? Resist.

Legitimately, sincerely resist, and watch the devil run.

God’s word is true!.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-24-21

Romans 12:9 (NKJV) 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

I love how Paul tells us how it’s done; 3 very important things to pay attention to.

Love without hypocrisy. In others words, make sure that when we love, we mean it. No faking it in this walk.

Some people are good at faking their love. We wouldn’t even know they were faking it if God didn’t show us. That’s why we need Him.

One day, in a vision, God showed me a person that I cared about deeply. They were stabbing me in the back with a knife, laughing all the while.

I was like, “no way, God. It can’t be. They love me!”.

Well, it turned out to be true, and it happened.

When God shows us things like that, pay attention. Don’t be like me, arguing back, saying, “no way, can’t be”. God’s not going to make things up.

To abhor evil means that we hate it or despise it.

Don’t give into bad talk or filthy gestures. Don’t even entertain those thoughts for one second.

Don’t give into anything that we know is bad. It’s bad and we don’t need to be a part of it or have anything to do with it. Walk away.

For those of us stuck in a situation where we don’t know what to do, we need to seek God on how to get out of it. He will give us wisdom as to the best way to handle it.

Find the good, and don’t think that just because we may have done wrong throughout our life that bad will have a grip on us. No. Turn from it and get with God.

He will help us to change our path. He will help us turn our lives and our situation around. He is our Father. What Father would not help their child?

God is good…cling to Him.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Rejoice.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-23-21

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

As I have been studying in the book of Romans recently, I have seen and read a lot about sin in the lives of believers.

If we pay close attention to the word of God, and what it says on this topic, it becomes clear that this is a really big deal. It’s not something that we should just brush off and ignore.

The verse above tells us to stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free.

Looking more closely at some of the phrases used here gives us a bit deeper insight into what this verse means to us.

Stand Fast: Don’t backtrack. Don’t surrender again to sin. Don’t budge when sin tempts us.

Liberty: Freedom bought and paid for by Jesus Christ, through His death on the cross.

Entangled: Ensnared, entrapped.

Yoke of Bondage: Sin, unrighteous behavior that holds us captive, separating us from God’s presence in our lives.

So, if we were to paraphrase the verse based on these definitions, synonyms, and understanding from the Holy Spirit, here’s what it might read like.

Do whatever it takes to hold onto the freedom that Jesus Christ died to give you. Don’t surrender it at any cost. Don’t let the enemy slyly lead you into the chains of sin again, from which you have already been set free.

So, we urge you in love to do just that; resist sin and temptation to fall back into the sin that Jesus died to deliver us from.

The freedom that we have was costly for the One who died to make it available to us.

Let’s cherish it, honor it and respect it with our hearts and our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-22-21

1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV) 9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

When we honor God and seek after His plan for our lives it is the best life we can experience. Living with God and walking in His plan is amazing!

Many today are trying to plan their own life out and then ask God for help.

We need to turn this around, let God plan our life for us and be willing and open to hear Him at all times.

You may ask, “is it hard to know the plan of God for our life?”. It can be if we have a lot of busyness and noise going on around us. God is not one to hit us over the head. We either want it or we don’t.

That’s why seeking Him, spending time with Him, and listening to Him is so important.

His scripture promises us that if we seek Him, He will be found!

You ask, “does He speak to us with a voice?”.

God will speak to us in the way we will understand Him best. He’s God and He knows what it will take to get our undivided attention.

But it’s being open and “willing minded” that will help us to walk closely. Those that are stiff necked won’t hear Him and will carry on in their own ways.

They will use God’s name to gain for themselves and make others think they are following Him. But deep down they are walking out their own plans.

Proverbs 12:24 (NKJV) 24 The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

Be diligent in listening to God and the things He gives us to do. It shows Him honor and causes us to be the head and not the tail.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-21

Romans 8:18 (NKJV) 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

This verse brings us a message of great hope!

Not a single one of us likes suffering. It’s hard, it’s disheartening and it can be miserable at times.

Sometimes suffering can make us want to throw in the towel, give up and never try again.

Yes, it can be that bad.

But in the verse above, we are told that the suffering we encounter and endure here on earth can’t even begin to compare to the glory that will be revealed in us!

What does that mean?

It means that when we are bodily resurrected and we join Christ in heaven for eternity, our earthy suffering will pale greatly in comparison to the glory that will be revealed in us at that time.

In other words, the things that we suffer here will look like nothing when we compare it to being in God’s presence with Christ in the hereafter.

So, take heart!

Yes, suffering is hard. But it is only momentary. And the pain we endure while suffering here will fade away immediately when we are in His presence.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV) 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
