Bible Verse of The Day – 5-19-14

James 5:16 (NKJV) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

So many times we hear this verse quoted and then hear a discourse about praying until we get our answer… praying over and over again until God comes through.

We are led to believe that fervent prayer means praying repeatedly, praying repetitiously, until something happens.

But we’re here to tell you that this is not what God is telling us in this verse! Please read this and hear what God is saying.

We know that God wants us to pray fervently. There is no question about this. But what is fervent, anyway? What does it really mean?

fervent: felt very strongly, having or showing very strong feelings, exhibiting or marked by great intensity of feeling.

What would be some synonyms for fervent? How about these; ardent, fiery, burning, impassioned.

So we can see that fervent has nothing to do with repetition! It has everything to do with our heart being poured into something, and in this case, it means pouring our heart into prayer.

So God wants us to pray fervently, with everything in us, with passion, with intensity, and with faith that He will answer! Not with repetition and lack of heart.

Matthew 6:7 (NKJV) And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

So take what God is speaking to us today and put it into practice, praying and seeking God fervently, with great passion, and fire from within us, pouring ourselves into it. And believe that He will answer.

Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-14

John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

We have an enemy. He is the enemy of our souls. His one goal is to destroy us… to tear us to shreds if he can.

But, Jesus came to defeat that enemy once, for us all! And defeat him He did!

We want everyone to know today that we are not defeated. We are not here to live a downtrodden life full of disappointments, anger, bitterness and sorrow.

Yes, we all have things that come our way that will try to bring us down. It’s part of life. God never promised us a life with no trials or problems.

What He did promise us, though, is an assurance that no matter what comes our way, He is by our side. He has provided for us in everything, even before those hard times come.

There’s nothing better than victory God’s way! We always like to think we have everything figured out and we know how everything should go, but the truth is that we really know very little.

When God moves on our behalf, it will almost always be in a way that we would never have dreamed of ourselves. And there’s a reason for that. He wants us to know that He is God and He is in charge and in control.

Ponder on that over the weekend and smile, knowing that no matter what comes your way, God is in control and has provided abundant life for us. Reach out and grab hold of it today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-14

(Matthew 8:8 NKJV)  The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.

Lord, speak Your word and heal those that are sick today. We ask you for Your Healing power to touch those that are emotionally abused or physically abused.

We ask You, God, to heal each one today as we lift those up that are suffering all around this world. In every nation, province, state, county, city, valley, village and town. Those we don’t even know, that are crying out and need Your healing power, we ask this in Jesus’ name.

We rebuke satan and his attack against the body, mind and soul! We command satan to loose each one today that is in bondage to sickness and abuse. We rebuke fear, doubt, and and hopelessness in the name of Jesus Christ.

Lord, we ask You to reach down from heaven and touch them all right where they are and give them the strength they need to pull through in victory. You are faithful Lord, and we give You all the Glory, Honor and PRAISE, for you are our Savior, our Healer!

(Jeremiah 17:14 NKJV)  Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-14

Proverbs 3:9 (NKJV)9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase;

We get a lot of emails from our readers, asking us various questions about a wide range of topics.

Many of the questions revolve around financial situations. We hear many stories from people who are struggling to make ends meet and don’t know how to make it all work.

So today we want to tell you what God showed us close to 20 years ago. And it is this:

Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase.

This has been the key to us making it through everything with victory. This was the piece of the puzzle that we were missing for so many years before.

We were broke and drowning in debt. I was out of work because the factory where I worked had closed up, and Pastor Ellie was working a full time job to try to help us make ends meet.

We were getting further and further behind on everything. There seemed to be no hope.

And then God spoke to us through a Sunday message at the church we were attending at the time. He told us to do one thing: Tithe.

Despite the fact that we were broke and in debt, God told us to give to Him first. Give to Him from everything that came in.

And so we did. We tithed from everything that came in. No, we didn’t suddenly get out of debt. But we saw God move in some serious ways on our behalf. And we knew beyond any doubt that it was God.

After a while we started to get caught up and after a long journey, we were able to get back on our feet. And we know that it was God. We know that it was due to our obedience and trust in Him.

So give to God the firstfruits of all your increase. It doesn’t make sense to our heads, but God is way better at math than we are.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-14

(James 5:17-18 NKJV)  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. {18} And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

This is just an example of what praying earnestly can do. If we want things to happen in our home, with our family, in our church, our schools and in our country, we must pray and pray earnestly.

God will answer our prayers. It may not be exactly the way we thought it would be answered or in the timing we had expected, but things change when we pray.

God is faithful and willing to help us in whatever we are concerned about. We have to trust and believe that He will answer us.

Don’t think just because things don’t happen or change right away that He didn’t hear our prayer. And don’t have any preconceived ideas of how He will answer. Be open to Him and willing to do whatever it takes on our end.

Don’t give up on praying…it works!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-14

Proverbs 22:7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

In today’s society, debt has become something normal for everyone, including followers of Christ.

The pressures of the world to compete for status and keep up with the high cost of owning lots of things has led to most people making debt a way of life. Sadly, this comes at a very high price for everyone.

Debt is nothing more than modern slavery. Debt will rob you of your hard-earned money, your peace of mind and your joy.

Being in debt makes you a servant to the one who let you borrow the money or extended credit to you. You may not think of it like this, but it’s a fact.

Debt is destroying the finances of millions of people, business and even governments. Once you’re in debt, it can seem nearly impossible to get out of.

But we’re here today to tell you that it can be done. It’s not always easy, but with hard work, perseverance, and determination, you can overcome the debt monster.

God tells us not to live in debt to anyone.

Romans 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

And the scripture at the top clearly tells us that if we are in debt, we are a slave or a servant to the creditor.

Today, make a determination in your heart and mind to put an end to debt in your life. Start small and work your way up, paying it all off as you go.

It won’t happen overnight. But no goal worth pursuing comes easy.

Stop being a slave to debt. Get free today, and never go back to it again.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-14

(Psalm 27:10 NKJV)  When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me.

It’s a hard thing for a child, or even an adult, to go through life thinking their parents don’t want to be around them or love them. It’s just not right. Nobody should ever feel this way. Everyone should feel loved.

This is not God’s plan for anyone. This is man and their sinful nature. God sent His word to those that need to hear this and be taught or reminded.

The Lord is so good and caring that even if our parents want nothing to do with us He is there waiting with His arms open!

Today if you feel alone and without parents, maybe they want nothing to do with you because of your love for Him. Maybe they aren’t alive, or maybe they just don’t think they have the time and they refuse to make time to spend with you, etc.

Hold on to this verse and know that the Lord will care for you. He will be there for you and help you through thick and thin. He will fill that emptiness. He is your Daddy.

You are not alone. Praise be to God!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-10-14

Proverbs 21:20 (NKJV) There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it.

Our prayer for everyone reading this today is that you would be blessed with God’s wisdom in your lives.

Most people pray for God’s blessings and His abundance in a financial sense, but we have learned through the years that blessings without God’s wisdom to handle it properly lead to ruin. For where we lack wisdom, we spend foolishly (squander what we have been blessed with).

So, today, seek God’s wisdom first and ask Him to lead you in everything. Ask Him how to handle all of the things that He blesses you with and that your ways would be pleasing to Him.

In this your homes will be filled with desirable treasure and oil (plenty to eat).

May God bless each and every one of you today with His wisdom and understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-14

(Proverbs 1:33 NKJV)  But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.”

Sometimes we just don’t want to hear or learn one more thing pertaining to certain subjects, because once we’ve learned it we are now accountable for it and when we make our decisions, we now know the right thing to do.

Remember our parents telling us when we’ve done wrong, they’d add “and you KNEW better!” Why is that? Because they had spoken to us previously about it, explaining the consequences and didn’t want us to repeat it again. We needed to listen.

Listening to God brings safety to our life. If we are a parent listening to God as He teaches us how to parent, it brings safety to our children. If we are ministers listening to God, it brings safety to our congregation or those we minister to, and if we are a husband listening to God, it brings safety to our wife and family, etc.

When we follow God and do what He says, we need to be listening to all of it not just some. We can’t be just picking and choosing the things we like to hear or do, but truly listening and following Him in everything. Then we will dwell safely, and we will be secure and without fear of evil.

Shhh… listen today. What is God saying to you?

Bible Verse of The Day

Genesis 41:57 (NKJV) So all countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all lands.

Famine. It’s a word that brings fear to the hearts of men and women. It’s a word that conjures up images of many different things in our minds, and none of them are good.

But even in times of famine, God moves and teaches us so much.

We need to understand that a famine is only temporary. They don’t last forever. They might seem like they last forever, but they are just a temporary setback.

The worst thing we can do when a time of famine hits us is to try to find an easy way out. Most times, what appears to be the easy way will result in more problems further down the road.

The key to going through a famine and coming out victoriously is to stay close to God throughout the entire time.

We should be listening to God and following His leading before the famine ever hits. If we are heeding His directions on a daily basis, we will be sowing into His kingdom and using our resources very wisely during the times of plenty so He can bless us. This will allow us to “build up our storehouses” so that when famine arrives, we will have what we need to make it through.

Now, in reality, most of us are very bad about “saving for a rainy day”, and when famine arrives, our resources can become depleted very quickly. It is then that we see what we are really made of and where our trust really lies.

When this situation comes, which it will for every single one of us, we need to trust God with every fiber of our being and cling to Him, listening for His voice. We need to stay open to His leading and be willing to obey when He speaks to us.

God will always bring us through these tough times if we let Him. The important thing is that we don’t put God in a box and expect Him to help us in a way that we have preconceived. God can and will move and work in the way that’s best for us based on His wisdom, not ours.

So prepare for the famine during times of feast. And when the famine does hit, stay close to Him and trust Him. Victory will come if we don’t give up!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-14

Titus 2:11-12 (NKJV) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age…

Have you ever wondered how to please God, or how God would like us to represent Him in this world?

The two verses above put it all together in a neat, tidy little package.

This small tidbit of wisdom from God’s word can be a real challenge for all of us at different times, no matter how righteous we might think we are. But we can do it by sticking close to God and paying attention to what the Holy Spirit tells us to do or not to do.

The easiest way to do this is to move slowly and cautiously in everything, being careful to obey God’s leading.

If we do this, it will be much harder for the enemy to fool us or lure us into his traps.
