Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-15

Psalm 51:17 (NKJV) 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart – These, O God, You will not despise.

As I pondered on what to write about today, I heard God drop one word into my spirit. Contrite.

I did some pondering before putting this together. Much can be said for having a contrite heart.

To be contrite means to be remorseful for a sin or shortcoming. This goes far beyond just being sorry that we did something. It means that we are genuinely regretful for doing it, but we also want to change our habits so we don’t do it again.

This is what God honors. And it’s this type of attitude that draws us to God and allows Him to draw near to us.

Humility is what helps to bridge the gap between God and us because when we have humbled ourselves, we are no longer telling God that we had an excuse for what we did. We’re just at the point where we simply want to fix what’s wrong and make it right.

As humans, we tend to look at broken things as being disposable. We throw them away and buy new ones.

But God looks at broken people as the starting point for something great. Because once we’re broken, then He can work to rebuild us, from the ground, up.

And when He’s finished, we’re not just a repaired, repainted version of the old us. We’re brand new, from top to bottom. God doesn’t just fix broken stuff. He makes it new again.

So, as you read this, if you feel like you’ve let Him down again, take a minute (or more) and do something about it. It’s never too late.

We can change today if we really want to and if we let Him help us and show us how.

He’s always ready and able to help us. We just have to be willing to let Him.

Today’s the day. Let Him rebuild you from the ground, up, and make you brand new.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-15

Matthew 27:40 (NKJV) 40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

They say, “Save yourself”?, “Come down from the cross”?

They were completely oblivious to what was going on. “They” did not believe in Him. They were spiritually dead. Who are “They”?

They were people that passed by, also Chief Priests, scribes and elders.

Jesus did not need to save Himself. He was the Savior!! He had a much bigger plan. He came to save the world, He came to save you and I. Dying on the cross was part of that plan.

Through His death on the cross, He gave every one of us a chance to become sons and daughters of God and to have eternal life with Him.

Our part is to repent of our sins and put our faith in Him.

We do this by telling Him we are sorry for the wrong things we have done in our lives. Then we turn from those wrong things, meaning we don’t continue to do them over and over again. Then, we put our faith in Him. That just simply means we believe that He is who He says He is; the Son of God. And then we receive Him as our Lord and Savior.

John 3:16(NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-15

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV) 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

To be sober means to have or show a very serious attitude or quality. To be Vigilant means to carefully notice problems or signs of danger.

The Holy Spirit, our Helper, will keep us alert and on our toes. He knows ahead of time what the enemy is up to and He will keep us ahead of what the devil may be trying to do against us.

We have to be paying attention.

When Jesus was born, the enemy was after Him right from the beginning. God would warn Joseph, his father, through dreams as to where to go and what to avoid etc.

Matthew 2:12 (NKJV) Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.

The Holy Spirit will guide us and show us the steps to take to avoid the devil. He will get us through every battle that tries to come against us, and we will win. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-15

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Do we want God’s favor in our lives? Do we want His blessings? Do we want His approval? Do we want Him to be pleased with us?

I think every single one of us can say yes to all of those questions.

So how do we go about doing this?

We need to seek Him diligently!

Diligent: Done with steady, earnest, energetic effort.

So we need to seek God energetically. We can’t seek Him half-heartedly!

We need to seek Him steadily. We can’t just seek Him a day here and a day there!

We need to seek Him earnestly. We have to be intent and deliberate in seeking Him!

All of these things add up to a healthy pursuit of and relationship with God. If we will make this kind of effort, He will give the increase, and our relationship with Him will grow exponentially.

And as our relationship with Him grows, so will our faith.

So if we’re feeling like we’re lacking and we want God to reward us, we need to push those things aside that try to keep us from Him. And then we need to earnestly, diligently seek Him.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
