Bible Verse of The Day – 6-17-15

Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV) 27 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

We spend so much of our time planning. We plan for the future, as if we’re sure that we will have a handle on everything and will be able to carry out our plans.

We go through today as if we know for sure that we will have a tomorrow. Sometimes the choices we make, the things we do and the things we say make a statement about how we view tomorrow.

Planning isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We should be organized and responsible, using our time wisely. And we should never live in fear of what tomorrow might bring. We have to have faith, knowing that it’s all in God’s hands.

But we need to be careful that we never view tomorrow as a right, as something that we’re guaranteed to have. Tomorrow is never a right. It’s always a privilege.

We are only half way through 2015, and already we have known people who have passed away who would be viewed as too young to die. 56 years old, 44, 36 and others who hadn’t “lived their lives out yet”, are all gone. And all of them suddenly.

James 4:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Not a single one of us knows what tomorrow will bring, or if we will even have a tomorrow.

We need to treat each precious day with respect. We need to love those in our lives as though we might not have a tomorrow to show them our love. And we need to care for others in a way that they will know we mean it.

We touch on this subject every so often, not to be morbid or depressing, but as a gentle reminder for all of us.

If we, or those that we know, were to be gone tomorrow, would we have loved and given 100 percent?

Something to think about.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-16-15

Matthew 25:37-39 (NKJV) 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

Taking time to care for our needs is important and God wants us to do that. The thing to watch out for is spending all of our time on our needs and not having or paying attention to the needs of others.

Every day that goes by there is someone that is in need of something, somewhere. It could be something big or something small; we just never know.

Last week as I was at the local Post Office, I noticed that the Postmaster was outside, clearing brush and cleaning up the parking lot.

He stopped me to say hello and asked how I was doing. I noticed he was hot and red as a beet, from working hard. I looked at the time and realized he was working through his lunch break.

As I drove away, I knew I needed to get him something to eat and drink.

So, after finding the nearest place, I grabbed him lunch and a drink. It probably only took me about 15 minutes of my day. I went back and dropped it off and he was so thankful, and then I was on my way.

As I pulled away I heard God say, “you touched him in the deepest part of his heart.”

The next day I went in to pick up my mail and he said, “thank you so much, you saved my life. I got into that project and it was bigger than I thought. Thank you Pastor so much, it meant a lot.”

You see, I may not have literally saved this man’s life, but he was truly grateful. God knew what he needed and He personally touched this man’s heart that day through my hands.

Giving God our hands and our time not only touches the hearts of others, but it touches the heart of God as well!! Amen.

Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-15-15

Revelation 2:4 (NKJV) 4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

Today we want to reach out to those who may have fallen away from God, or maybe aren’t walking as closely with God as you once were.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re backslidden and buried in sin. But maybe you’ve gotten so busy with life, or even so busy with ministry work, that somehow God has gotten pushed to the background and you no longer have the same love for Him that you once did.

In our relationship with The Creator, we are never static. We are moving closer to Him or further away. There is no middle ground.

The cares of this world can quickly sneak in and drive a wedge between us and God if we don’t protect our relationship vehemently. We have to be like a vigilant watchdog on high alert, watching carefully for anything that might try to derail that relationship, even the slightest little bit.

And most importantly, don’t let the enemy whisper in your ear and condemn you for anything. His motive is to keep you as far from God as possible, and if he can convince you that you’re guilty and beyond hope, it just may accomplish what he wants it to.

So remember your first love and return to Him today. He’s waiting for you with His arms wide open.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-15

Numbers 11:9 (NKJV) 9 And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

As the Israelites made their way into the desert, night fell and they were hungry. They had brought no food with them when they fled Egypt.

When they woke the next morning, there was food everywhere, all over the ground. It had fallen from the sky while they slept. This type of food was something they had never seen before. They called it manna.

And so they began to learn that God would provide for them in their time of need.

What they had a hard time learning, though, was that God would provide for them His way, not the way they expected it to happen.

This is something that we all wrestle with in our own lives. We put God in a tidy little box and expect Him to answer our prayers, provide for us and take care of us in the way that we expect Him to do it. But oh, if only we could get this right!

How much more we would see God do in our lives if we would just let Him out of that box!

God’s provision isn’t always in the form of a great corporate job. God’s healing doesn’t always happen by way of a divine miracle that happens mysteriously. Sometimes He provides for us in ways that we would never think of. And sometimes our healing comes by way of doctors and medical technology.

No, this isn’t a lack of faith in God’s power and might. It’s allowing God to work and help us in whatever means He chooses.

When we have our heart and minds set on God answering us or doing something for us in a specific way, we limit Him. We tie His hands. We may think that we’re being spiritual and we have great faith, but in reality, we might be stubborn and closed-minded.

If the Israelites had been set on getting their food in a certain way, they would have starved in the desert.

We also need to make sure we don’t starve in our own little desert. Let’s let God out of the box and untie His hands today.

Oh, the things we will see if we do this!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-12-15

Proverbs 13:12 (NKJV) 12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

Hope deferred; that thing that you have been waiting for and praying for, for so long.

You set your heart on something and begin to seek after it. Time goes by. You wait. You pray. You wait some more.

Sometimes we can grow impatient and our hope begins to wane and fade. Our heart begins to feel sick because we have hoped and waited for so long.

Before we know it, we begin to sink into despair and wonder if our prayer was even heard.

Has this ever happened to you? We can honestly say that it has with us.

Sometimes when praying for something, we get so focused on that something that we lose sight of everything else, and that thing can become an obsession if we’re not careful.

And if we allow it to, that obsession can pull us away from God if we take our eyes off of Him and put them on the thing we’re praying for. And desperate situations can be even more stressful, if we’re waiting on a breakthrough.

But we should never give up hope and let our situation or our pursuit of something bring us to the point where we are straddling the fence and about to walk away from God if we don’t get our answer.

Our answer will come if we don’t give up. It won’t always come when we think it should, or how we think it should. But we can’t give up on God and walk away.

If we give up on God, we have lost more than just a prayer that seems to be unanswered. If we give up on God, we have lost everything.

So for those who are straddling the fence, you’re standing on that line and getting ready to cross it and walk away, don’t do it!

Stick it out and lean on God with everything in you. Press into Him and pull on Him.

And when the desire, the thing you’ve been praying for, comes to fulfillment, it will be like a tree of life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-11-15

Matthew 16:25 (NKJV) 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

So many times we receive emails from people, asking us how to know God’s purpose for their lives. As we have mentioned in the past, it’s the number one questions we get asked.

And it’s understandable that people would want to know this. After all, if we’re walking with God, we should want to know. Otherwise, we’re just spinning our wheels.

What’s amazing, though, is that knowing God’s will and purpose for you isn’t as difficult as most people would expect. It’s not as mysterious as some people think it is. Let me explain.

You see, God’s purpose isn’t like some magic line that you cross, where you’ve suddenly arrived at a destination and it all instantly becomes clear. I know that might disappoint some people, but it’s just reality.

What it is, though, is a process of letting God refine you, shape you and mold you into who He wants you to be, so He can use you as He sees fit.

It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. And the funny thing is that you might not even realize that you’re walking it out until some time has passed!

One day you just get an understanding that this is where He wants you to be and this is what He wants you to be doing!

So, starting today, let’s stop trying so hard to find His purpose for us and start putting all of our effort into seeking Him, and becoming that man or woman of God He wants us to become.

Then we will find His peace, and in the midst of that peace, as we begin walking more and more closely to Him, we will also begin walking out His purpose for us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-10-15

Lamentations 3:23 (NKJV) 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

We can’t thank God enough for His faithfulness.

My Dad has had 3 very major surgeries, starting in March of this year; One triple bypass, one Carotid Artery and one Cancerous tumor. He is 80 years old.

As of today he is home, recovering, healing. laughing, eating, resting, getting better every day. Although it was scary at times and emotionally draining, we felt God’s presence always with us. He never left our side.

People were praying, and God answered all our prayers.

We serve a God who is FAITHFUL!

Keep praying for that lost one that you so desire to see get saved, for that broken one that needs healing, for good job opportunities and to see your children again, and for debt-free living, etc. Keep praying and asking God, for He will supply all our needs. He will answer us.

Mark 11:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

What are your needs today?

Write in and share with us so we too can join you in prayer, and together see God’s provision in your life, God’s healing, God’s miracles and God’s faithfulness! Amen.

Start thanking Him today before we even see any signs of it coming. Get busy doing what we know we are supposed to be doing and don’t worry. it’s in His hands.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-9-15

Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NKJV) 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

As human beings, men and women, we tend to look at things from a human perspective.

We set human goals, have human desires and judge things, and people, by human standards. And with these standards, we gauge success or failure.

Obviously, our natural tendency will be to do this, since we are created from flesh and bone. But, as children of God, we need to learn not to always look at things from a human perspective, but from a spiritual point of view.

Our success and failures should be determined by God’s standards and based on spiritual principles to be measured properly.

A high-paying corporate job, a fancy home, an expensive car, truck or boat, good standing in the community, a retirement fund bulging with cash and other similar things are the normal standard by which we measure success.

But we’re here to tell you today that this is not the way we should view ourselves.

Everything that we amass while we’re here on this earth is of no value when we’re gone, unless it is for the kingdom of God. It is there that we need to be storing up our treasures, in heaven.

King Solomon was the richest man who ever lived. The wealth he possessed would make our modern-day billionaires look like paupers in comparison.

But when Solomon had experienced everything and lived a life of plenty, what did he say?

“All is vanity and grasping for the wind.”

You see, without God we are nothing. We are powerless and our lives hold no real meaning.

God created us and breathed life into us. It is because of Him that we even exist to begin with. So to try to live a life without Him is senseless and fruitless.

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

But with Him our lives become new and meaningful and in Him we can do everything!

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

So let’s let God change our perspective and see things through His eyes and with His mind and His purpose. Then we will begin to see things in a different light and understand things from a new point of view.

And our “successes and failures” will all take on new meaning!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-8-15

Philippians 3:7(NKJV) 7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.

We may think at times, when things are being stripped away from us, that we have failed; we have taken a loss.

But we can reassure you that the loss we may be experiencing, might very well be for our gain!

Surrendering our lives to Christ, will cause us to have to let go of some things that may get in the way of our journey with Him. Some of those things, we may have worked long and hard for. It’s not necessarily that we are losing them because of anything we have done. It’s just that God knows what is right for us.

Although these things may feel like a loss, believe God when He tells us that as we follow Him, He will make us the HEAD and not the TAIL. That we are above only and not beneath!

Deuteronomy 28:13(NKJV) 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.

Don’t be afraid, disappointed or sad, when we see things being stripped away. Nothing in this life is more fulfilling than walking close to God. It is in Him we will find happiness, JOY and everlasting LIFE!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-6-15

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Just because the world around us says it’s alright to do certain things, it doesn’t mean it’s alright with God. We need to know and understand that there are consequences for the things we partake in.

In these verses, God clearly shows us that if we are participating in any one of these things and we do not repent and turn from them, we will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God loves each one of us and He made a way for us to get free from sin, through His Son Jesus Christ. He made a way for us to get free and to stay free, but we must choose which path we want.

If God is speaking to your heart today, take a step toward Him and pray the prayer below.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You today and I ask You to forgive me for my sins. I know that these things that I have participated in are wrong and against You and I am sorry. I want to turn my life around. Please help me to live the life You have for me, to be all that You want me to be. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer today, please write or call and let us know, we’d love to hear your testimony and be praying with you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-5-15

1 John 4:8 (NKJV) 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I was in a local store this evening and I saw a man walking ahead of me. Something about this man irritated me.

I kept walking and got what I had gone there for, and as I walked toward the front of the store to pay for my things, I saw him again. Once more, I got very irritated and began to think things about him that were contrary to how God would want me to feel.

I heard the Holy Spirit say to me “Jesus died on the cross for him, as much as He died for you. I love him, therefore you need to love him too.”

Needless to say, my thoughts changed immediately and I repented for what I had been thinking.

We are called to love everyone. Even the unlovable. Even those who irritate us. Even those who disagree with us. And even those who do harm to us.

Loving others is probably one of the most difficult things we are called to do. What’s more, we are commanded to love others. It’s not optional.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

So, today, as you go through your routine and meet others wherever you are, remember that loving them is not something we are asked to do. It’s something we are required to do.

Love one another.
