Bible verse of The Day – 9-4-15

Psalm 30:4 (NKJV) 4 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

Stop for a few minutes, no matter what we have planned for today.

Maybe we were planning on running right out the door this morning because we have an urgent meeting at work.

Maybe our children need to be dropped off at daycare, babysitters, or school. Maybe we have a doctor’s appointment.

Maybe we are scheduled to teach a class or hold a prayer meeting. Maybe we are heading out to preach and teach at a Bible college, etc.

Whatever it is, it can all wait. There is Someone we need to remember before we go running out that door; that is Jesus Christ our friend.

John 15:14 (NKJV) 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Give Him thanks and remember His holy name!!

Hallelujah!

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-3-15

Psalm 33:8-9 (NKJV) 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

He spoke and it was done.

Wow! What an awesome statement. God spoke and the worlds were formed.

Sometimes I just stop and look around, or ponder on the world where we live. And I am in awe.

I think about the skies, the planets, the trees, the oceans, rivers, streams and lakes.

I see the birds in the air and the awesome creatures here on the ground. I hear the sounds of nature.

I smell the scents of flowers, grapes on the vines and the smells of changing seasons.

And I am in awe.

Everything we see was created by God’s spoken words. He framed our world with His words, literally.

Hebrews 11:3 (NKJV) 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

How often do we take the time to stop and look, and take it all in. How often do we take the time to thank Him for it? And how often do we take the time to appreciate it and spend time enjoying it, as was His plan?

Join me in looking around and standing in awe.

Our God is so incredibly mighty. All that is needed to create life is His voice.

Are we listening?

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-2-15

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The truth can be a hard thing to swallow sometimes.

The truth can be hurtful. But the truth will also set us free, if we let it.

Many times we don’t like to hear the truth because it may convict us or require that we make some changes. And this can cause us some discomfort, there’s no doubt about it.

Sometimes the truth will show us who we really are. Other times the truth will show us who others really are.

Either way, the truth can be very eye-opening and very revealing. And when our eyes are opened to the truth, it can be pretty sobering.

But when we embrace the truth, instead of running from it, it will bring freedom to our lives in ways that we could never have imagined.

It might hurt for a while, but our hurt will heal, with God’s help and with time. And when we are healed, we will be free from the lies that we were deceived by for so long.

So embrace the truth today. Run to it. For only the truth can set us free.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-1-15

Proverbs 12:26 (NKJV) 26 The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Hanging out and spending a lot of time with people that pull us down, are always doing wrong, are constantly talking negative, frequently gossiping and spending a lot of time picking others apart can be harmful to us and cause us to stumble as well.

We may not like to admit it, but their behavior can rub off on us, causing us to become desensitized to things that we know we shouldn’t be participating in.

A friend should be someone that we can talk with and have fun with, but not have to change our values or standards to keep them as our friend. A friend will accept us the way we are and not talk behind our backs if we are different than them.

A good friend won’t use us for selfish purposes, but they will care about how we are doing and check in on us occasionally.

True friends can allow time to go by without seeing each other and then pick up where we left off when meeting up again.

Good friends can be hard to find. Be careful and choose wisely.
