Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-16

Matthew 16:17 (NKJV)17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

God will reveal certain things to us at times that aren’t necessarily revealed to others. God is not untouchable, unrelatable or unreachable. He has a One-on-one relationship with those of us who want it.

He will show us things by His Spirit, giving us knowledge and understanding of things that we otherwise may not get on our own.

One of the things I struggle with is that when God reveals something to me through His Spirit, I can’t just run with it on my own.

I had to learn that what is revealed by the Spirit, I need to further seek guidance as to how to see it through or what to do with it. I have to ask Him, “is there something on my end I may need to do? What step do I take to see it through, etc.?”.

I learned that I need to wait for God’s response and if there is NO response, then I just need to sit tight and let Him move in whatever way He desires, in His timing.

Be patient. God will reveal things through His Spirit and give us direction as we seek Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-16

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

It is time to shut the TV and the phones off. Put the games and the toys away. Sit down and share all the great and wonderful truths of the Bible with our babies, toddlers and teens.

Some of us may be afraid to teach our kids about the Bible. Maybe we think it is too late to start this up in our home. We will just let them learn it on their own when they can pick and choose what they want. Wrong!

For one, it is our responsibility. And two, It is never too late to start something new, especially if we know it will help them.

Oh we can bet that we may get some fussing, bucking and kicking. Nevertheless, we should stand our ground and do what is right in God’s eyes.

All kids need to know and learn the truth. And honestly, they do want it. They just won’t tell us that. We need to take the initiative.

Pray about this and let God lead you on how to present it in your home. If it is new and something they are not used to, introduce it ahead of time, letting them know that you will be starting it up soon, and just pick a time. You may feel inadequate about teaching your children, especially if you yourself aren’t sure about some things. Don’t let this stop you.

Start by teaching them the things you are sure about. Maybe something that stands out the most in your walk with God. Kids just want to know the TRUTH.

Talk to them, pray with them, show them how to reach God on their own.

My little Grandson started at a very young age. He would just go in his room and you could hear him talking to God.

Time had gone by and one day I felt like I needed to ask Him, “have you been talking to God recently?”. He said, “not really”. I said, “well, do you know God waits to hear from you? You better say hello and let Him know what’s on your heart”. He said, “OK I will. I just get busy playing with my toys sometimes”.

These are words that we can all admit too. We just get busy. But it was so good to hear him speak the truth. God knows we do get distracted from time to time. But what He loves is that we don’t give up, that we get back on track.

We only have so much time with our kids and before we blink, they are adults and on their own.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-6-16

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Prisons aren’t nice places.

They are full of people who have broken laws and committed crimes of various types. Some are bad, while others are very, very bad. You might even use the word “heinous” to describe some of these crimes. Some of them are unspeakable in their atrocity.

As the criminals in a jail are imprisoned, so can we also be imprisoned by our own sins, our past and our wounds.

Sometimes we are imprisoned by the things others have done to us, not the things we have done to them. People can be hurtful. Sometimes it’s intentional. Sometimes it’s unintentional. Either way, it hurts.

And if we hold onto that hurt, it holds us in a prison of pain and anger. And if we don’t forgive them and let it go, we can also become prisoners of unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred toward them.

This is a deep, dark prison cell that can slowly eat us up and destroy us, if we let it.

But Jesus came and died to set us free from this prison! He came to set free those who are in prison cells of unforgiveness, bitterness, hatred, anger and so much more.

He’s holding out His hand today. And in His hand is the key that unlocks the prison door. That key can set us free from the prison we’re in.

He’s offering it to us. Will we take it? Will we let Him set us free?

It’s up to us. It’s our choice and our decision. Reach out and take it!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-16

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NKJV) 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Races. They’re fun. They’re challenging. And they show us what we’re made of. And in the end, only one person can win a race.

I love competition. I have a very competitive nature and personality. If I do something, I do it to win. I do it to the best of my ability. I want to know that, when I finish something, I gave it my all. 110%, so to speak.

In today’s world, many people are taught that in a race, everyone should get a trophy, regardless of how well they finish. It doesn’t matter if they trained very hard or didn’t train at all. Some people think that those people who didn’t bother to train should get rewarded equally with those who trained very, very hard.

In God’s word, He tells us to run the race in such a way that we may obtain the prize. He isn’t referring to a physical race, but a spiritual race. It’s a race that each one of us is participating in.

This race that we run is toward a heavenly goal. In this race, we’re not competing against each other. But we’re racing toward God Himself, battling demons and powers of darkness who will try to hold us back and pull us down.

God has given us everything we need to battle the demons and run the race, finishing strongly, and claiming the prize!

It’s up to us whether we give it 110% or just 10%. It’s up to us whether we finish strongly, charging through that ribbon, or we barely make it, limping across the finish line.

It’s up to us. You and me. What will it be?

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-16

Psalm 94:18 (NKJV) 18 If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.

One day many years ago, I was getting ready to leave my house to run some errands. It was a day I had my grandson with me. He was only a little guy at this time, only about a year old.

It was a cold day, so I bundled him up in his heavy coat and warm hat, and put his hood up.

I stepped outside my door with him in my arms and I started walking to my car. Before I knew it, I was on the ground. I had slipped on black ice and down I went, baby and all.

When I hit the ground I heard no crying. There was no noise at all. All I saw was my grandson in my arms looking up at me. I panicked and started to yell for my husband. It was my yelling that scared the little guy, and of course he started to cry.

My husband came quickly and carried him in the house. I was so upset, thinking he had been hurt, only to find out there was not a scratch, bump or bruise on him. He was laughing with Granddaddy as he checked him over.

My arms were wrapped around him so tightly, that when we hit the ground we hit arms first, and he was protected.

Yes, it was shocking, because it all happened so suddenly. But we were both fine. Praise be to God!

This reminds me of how God’s mercy is like my arms around that child, so tightly, holding him up so he wouldn’t get hurt or hit hard.

Let us give Him praise today for His precious arms of “Mercy” holding us up from time to time!! Amen.

Psalm 103:8 (NKJV) 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-2-16

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

If God never formed man and breathed the breath of life into him there would be not one human being in this world.

He created us and He cares about us. He is a very personal God. Take every day seriously, for it is precious. Let us spend time with God, giving Him our attention and our love.

We need to be accountable to Him every day, looking to Him for His guidance and support in all that we do. We need to own up when we do wrong and let Him know that we acknowledge it and want to do better.

He wants a beautiful relationship with us; a relationship where we trust and acknowledge Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

He is a GREAT and Mighty God and He has good plans for each one of us! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-16

Mark 13:31 (NKJV) 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

God is powerful beyond what we can comprehend.

No matter what takes place in the future, His words will never pass away. So what does that mean?

It means that what He has spoken is true and steadfast. It can be counted on. It can be relied on to remain truth for eternity.

God isn’t in the business of saying things just to get attention or to please a crowd.

His words established the world and everything we see. His words created the universe. And His words set everything about life into motion.

There is nothing that can overcome His words. There is no deceit in them. There are no lies to be found in them.

So as the world seems to be getting less and less stable, take comfort in knowing that no matter what we see happening around us, God and His words will never, ever let us down.
