Bible Verse of The Day – 6-8-22

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

There are many things that we can seek in life. And that list of things varies widely across the lives of us all, since we are all unique and diverse, as God created us.

As believers, we may seek very different things related to our walk with God.

Some may seek different spiritual gifts. Others may simply want a stronger walk with God.

Some may seek material blessings; a better job, a new home, a bigger salary, etc.

But there is one thing that we should seek out before any of the rest of these, especially if we’re seeking any kind of material blessing.

That one thing is wisdom; namely, God-inspired, Holy Spirit-led wisdom.

The verse above tells us that wisdom is the principal thing.

The word, “principal”, could also be replaced with primary, main, first, most important, etc.

This tells us that it’s very important, and not to be overlooked.

Why is wisdom so important that we should seek it before seeking these other things?

Because that God-given wisdom will teach us and show us how to handle those things we are seeking once we have received them.

Without wisdom, we will likely wrestle with making sound choices. We will struggle to do what is right with the very things that God has blessed us with.

Having abundant finances without the ability to handle them properly is a recipe for disaster.

Having a better position at our place of employment won’t do us any good if we don’t have the wisdom to make wise decisions.

And this principle carries over into every aspect of our lives.

We absolutely need to have wisdom if we want to avoid constantly making a mess of our lives because of the choices we make.

The best thing about all of this is that God is more than willing to give us that wisdom. We just have to be willing to seek it out and follow what He tells us to do.

And if we spend ample time in His word, we will be sure to glean all of the wisdom we need to live our lives wisely!

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-7-22

Matthew 7:7 (NKJV) 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Ask.

One of the most important things in this life as a believer is knowing God’s promises for us and learning how to ask for them on a personal level.

In order for any of His promises to happen, we must be in agreement with Him for them to come to pass in our lives.

We don’t demand and we don’t command. We simply ask and respectfully (reverently) wait for His timing and His way of accomplishing it.

Seek.

How does one seek after God?

Again, we prayerfully go to and wait on Him.

We seek Him through reading His word. And throughout our day we seek Him by listening, letting Him help us discern the things that we need to see and understand.

Sincerely seeking Him will give us His answers.

Knock, and it will be open!

Simply go toward whatever God has put in front of us and follow through.

One thing I find interesting is the order they are in. Ask, seek and knock.

I find knocking doesn’t seem to do me a bit of good if I have not done both of these things first.

We must ask to start the process or get the ball rolling, so to speak.

Once the process has begun (we’ve asked), it doesn’t mean that whatever we are asking for will pop out of thin air.

Instead, it should cause us to want to seek after God for confirmation and further instructions.

It’s very important to know what steps to take, the timing and the knowhow to see it through, etc.

And then we come to the end and bring it home by knocking or “following through” with faith, wisdom and understanding. He will lead us each step of the way.

Praise God!

Bible Verse of the Day – 6-6-22

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Worry, Fear, Stress, Anxiety.

These are all things that we as humans struggle with when things get tough or unsure.

Some wrestle with these more than others. Our personality can play a big part in how much we struggle with any of them.

But our walk with God, our faith in Him and how much we trust Him can also have a major impact on whether or not we fight with any of them, or even to what degree it might happen.

Everyone is in a different place in their walk with God. We all deal with different obstacles when it comes to growing and maturing.

The import thing, though, is that we do work at it.

A strong, secure relationship with our Father is our best defense against anxiety, fear, stress and worrying.

As we grow and mature as a believer, we will come to understand what Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble”.

Does this mean that our worries just magically melt away? Of course not.

But it does mean that as we spiritually mature, we will spend less and less time fretting and worrying, and more time seeking God and His solutions to our problems.

And as we do that, worrying will indeed become less a part of our life than we could have ever imagined.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-4-22

Proverbs 8:11 (NKJV) 11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.

Wisdom is priceless! There is no comparison to her.

When we think we need money, success, or power, we’d better think again. None of these will get us anywhere without God’s wisdom.

With money, we need wisdom to know how to handle it. With success, we need wisdom to know how to keep it going. With power we need wisdom to know how to keep it in its rightful place; not going to our heads.

God’s word says, happy is the man who finds wisdom!

Why?

Because that man has gained something that nothing else can bring him; understanding!

When we have wisdom, we gain understanding. And the proceeds from it are better than anything this world can offer.

Rubies, silver, and fine gold can’t even come close to the rewards of having wisdom.

Proverbs 3:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold.

Wisdom is the most key thing in all our getting and desiring. So, go after Godly wisdom! We will be a happy people. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-3-22

John 18:10-11 (NKJV) 10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. 11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”

We can learn a lot from Peter when it comes to discerning and dividing flesh from spirit.

Peter was very zealous when it came to taking action. The problem was that he often acted out of his emotions (the flesh), instead of discerning the spiritual side of things and allowing the Spirit of God to guide him.

The example above was one of those incidents.

Jesus had accepted what the Father had for Him to do, despite knowing that it would subject Him to excruciating suffering and the loss of His life.

Peter, though, was determined to stop that from happening, if he possibly could.

His courage and conviction were admirable, even if he was a bit misguided with his actions.

On another occasion (Matthew 16:21-23), as Jesus told His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem to suffer and die there, Peter once again allowed His emotions and flesh to cause him to make incorrect judgments and rebuke Jesus!

Jesus quickly adjusted Peter’s thinking and behavior by saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men”.

These are some really good examples of why it’s so important that we not allow our flesh to guide our thinking and our actions, but to allow the Holy Spirit to break through the noise and confusion, and to let Him speak to our spirit, leading us to take the right actions with spiritual understanding.

The difference between the right and the wrong choice can be huge, and the consequences of the choices we make can literally be life-altering.

Let us choose wisely.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-2-22

1 John 5:4 (NKJV) 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

If we believe in HIs Son, Jesus Christ, and repent from our sins and let Him guide our steps we take each day, we are born of God!

And He has overcome the world, so that we too can be victorious in all we do.

It is our faith in Him that allows us to have victory. Nothing else will give us this kind of victory; only our faith in Jesus Christ!

He is our victory!

In having faith in Him and obeying His word, we have everlasting life. We will not perish, and no one can snatch us out of His hand!

John 10:28 (NKJV) 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

Faith in Him; now that is victory! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-1-22

John 18:36 (NKJV) 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

Not of this world.

That phrase is really hitting home more and more recently. Let me explain.

Let me start by saying that Pastor Ellie and I have had more than a few conversations over the last 6-12 months about the fact that we feel less and less attached to our lives here on this earth.

What used to feel solid and stable no longer feels that way.

What used to give us a sense of belonging no longer affects us that way.

We truly feel like we are living in a foreign land where our only true source of hope and stability is God and our walk with Him.

The changes in the world over the last decade or so have really caused us to focus our attention on God, and Him alone.

Pleasures and hobbies mean very little to us now. They just don’t hold our attention like they did 15-20 years ago.

Why? Because we have seen more and more that, just like Jesus, we are not of this world.

As followers of Christ, this world has no power over any of us.

It is just a place where you and I are passing through for a very short period of time. And then we will spend eternity in the presence of God.

So, if you’ve been struggling to find stability, or you feel like you’re losing your grip on things of this world, don’t spend your energy fighting it.

Let God be your stability. Let Him be your foundation, as He should be. And let us hold fast only to the things of heaven.

Let your peace and security be in Him alone. We are, after all, not of this world.
