Bible Verse of The Day – 7-20-22

Luke 17:26-27 (NKJV) 26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Men, women, boys and girls, we need to be on high alert.

No, this is not a scare tactic. This is not us saying that Jesus is coming back tomorrow. This is not even us saying that Jesus is coming back next year.

Nobody knows the day or the hour but God the Father Himself.

Matthew 24:36 (NKJV) 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

What we are saying, though, is that we are in a season where heightened awareness and sharp discernment is needed.

We are in a season where we need to be watching God and keeping our focus on Him like never before.

We absolutely cannot afford to be like those in the days of Noah. It is imperative that we take God at His word and trust that He is true in everything He has forewarned us about through His prophets when it comes to the last days.

The people in Noah’s day mocked and ridiculed Him right up until the very minute that He closed the door on the ark and the rains began coming down.

The people of Sodom and Gomorra lived like nothing was wrong right up until God began raining fire and brimstone down on that city and they all perished because of their horrific perversion and sin.

Let us not be like any of them, brushing God’s warnings aside and living like His promises are not true.

This isn’t even referring to sin in our lives. Yes, that’s very important. But this is referring to our attitude toward the events that we’re seeing all around us across the entire globe.

These events should be grabbing our attention and causing us to inquire of God, looking to Him for the answers.

And our discernment should be kicked into high gear by now, helping us to understand better what we’re seeing.

And let us not be like Lot’s wife, who disobeyed the angels of God and looked back as the city was destroyed, losing her life instantly because she didn’t take those warnings seriously.

Draw near to God. Trust Him with everything. And take His warning seriously as we push ahead in these prophetic times.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-22

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

Swift to hear…

Listening to what is going on around us is crucial in our daily walk with God. There is so much we can hear and discern when we  listen. Slow down enough so we can hear.

Don’t be so busy and caught up in things that our ears are stopped up. A lot of good choices and decisions come from listening.

Slow to speak…

Why do some feel like they have to always be talking? They never stop. They might even talk in their sleep if they could.

Why is that?

They want to be heard. They want to be the center of attention. They think what they have to say is so important that everyone wants to hear it.

Those are the very people who never let you finish what you have to say. They interrupt you, and you never get out what you started to say. A lot of it comes from being self-absorbed.

And then there is slow to wrath…

Anger is one thing that can stop any relationship. It can put a damper on what could be a beautiful and healthy relationship.

No one wants to be around a hot-tempered person. It’s uncomfortable and makes us feel like we have to walk on pins and needles.

It also feels very controlling. You feel like if you don’t do or say what they want or the way they want, you have to listen to them go off.

We need to examine our own selves today, and if we fit into these categories, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us temper ourselves and teach us how to handle our responses better.

We need His help to be considerate in our hearing, talking and responding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-22

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Want to know how to hear from God? Draw near to Him.

Want God’s protection in your life? Draw near to Him.

Want God to help you avoid temptation and break the bonds of sin in your life? Draw near to Him.

Want to know how to better understand God and His ways?

You guessed it; draw near to Him.

So many of us want to know God better, want Him to show us things and want Him to bless our lives.

The key to all of this is to put Him first in everything and to draw near to Him.

Don’t let anyone complicate it for you. It’s not as hard as some might make it sound.

Yes, God is very deep, and His mysteries are beyond human intellect. But He doesn’t make it complicated for us to get close to Him.

We just have to have a strong desire to do so, and then we need to put forth the proper amount of effort to make that happen.

So, if you’re longing to be closer to God, seek Him. But don’t just seek Him casually. Seek Him with your whole heart!

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

If you are a child of God, you have been redeemed.

The redemption that Christ offered to each of us is a perfect, incorruptible redemption.

In our new video, which we have titled, Incorruptible Redemption, we teach on what this means to us, and how it ties into the culture of the days when the scripture related to our redemption being incorruptible was written.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-22

Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are all dealing with wicked and deceitful hearts that need transformation.

No one is perfect, even after getting saved. It takes time to turn this heart of ours around.

We will always have something we are working on. But, if we know it is there and causing us to fail, we’d better be working on it and not letting it drag us into bad situations.

The key here is to know what our heart is about without Christ, and to be willing to make the necessary changes after we learn of Him and become His child.

Don’t just say, “well, I’ve always had a problem with this. It’s my weakness”. No, when we realize it, we have to shut it down, and Jesus Christ will show us how.

He will show us how to change that old heart and transform it into a new one.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

The biggest and most important way is to resist temptation. Build up that resistance muscle.

How? Through prayer and the Word we will be made strong.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-22

Luke 8:24-25 (NKJV) 24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

Most of us are probably familiar with this group of scriptures where the disciples were afraid that their boat would sink and they would all die.

They woke Jesus and He rebuked the storm, and all was well.

That’s what usually gets focused on when we read this or when someone shares it with us.

But take a look at what happened right after that.

The Bible says, “And they were afraid”.

Other translations worded it a bit more aptly, like this one; (NLT) “The disciples were terrified”.

The Amplified Bible says, “And they were seized with alarm and profound and reverent dread”.

It’s safe to say that what they saw shook them up pretty seriously.

These were men who had spent much time with Jesus. They heard Him speak and teach. They saw Him heal and deliver. They heard Him rebuke the religious leaders.

They understood that he was someone special. But what they saw that night in the boat really jolted them awake regarding the reality of Who this was that they were following; the earthly, human manifestation of almighty God, the Creator of heaven and earth.

They were sharing a boat with Immanuel, God with us!

It was at that moment that they saw beyond the flesh and bone, and they recognized for the very first time what God was doing.

That moment forever changed them. They could no longer look at Jesus as a mere man who happened to be a good teacher or a powerful prophet. Those days were now gone.

And so, let us also do the same. Let us not look at Jesus solely as a good man who gave His life for us.

He is so much more than that. He is Immanuel, the Lion of Judah, The King of kings and Lord of lords.

Let us live as though we had been in that very boat to see Him rebuke the storm ourselves. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-14-22

John 8:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

It’s sad to know that there are people who do not understand this scripture, or have never been taught the importance of believing, and what the consequences are if we don’t understand it.

So, what does it mean to believe?

It is so simple and there are no secrets to it. To believe in Jesus Christ is to know where He came from, Who He belongs to and what His purpose was when it relates to us.

Where did Jesus come from?

He was sent to this earth from God. He was born of a virgin named Mary.

Jesus did not come into this world by way of a natural conception. He was conceived in the womb of a virgin named Mary, by the Holy Spirit. His birth was a miracle in and of itself.

He is God’s Son. His purpose for coming was to save us from our sins, which began in the garden, when Eve and Adam disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit.

He came to make a way for us to have fellowship with the Father, and to redeem us from the curse of death.

It is through the suffering and bearing of the cross for us that, if we believe in Him, we will have eternal life.

We are also now able to have a relationship with our Father in heaven once again, here on this earth. Through the righteous and pure blood of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, we have been given another chance.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Don’t die in your sin. Believe in Him today and be free! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-22

Luke 6:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Now it happened on another Sabbath, also, that He entered the synagogue and taught. And a man was there whose right hand was withered. 7 So the scribes and Pharisees watched Him closely, whether He would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against Him.

As I read this verse today, I was struck by the irony of what the Pharisees were doing; watching to see if Jesus would perform a miracle to heal someone on the Sabbath so they could try to trap Him.

This is religiosity at its best; ignoring a miracle to find fault in the One who performed the miracle.

You see, religious people will look right past something that God is doing in order to persecute whoever God is using to do it.

Why?

Because people who are religious, and have more regard for traditions and laws than they do for the truth, will always do whatever it takes to try to destroy anything and anyone who might expose the error of their ways.

And in the process, they will miss the miracles that are right in front of them that would lead them out of their bondage if they would only open their eyes long enough to allow themselves to see it.

This is something that’s very destructive even within the body of Christ. It’s also something that we need to be very careful to guard our hearts against, so we don’t unknowingly fall into it ourselves.

We obviously need to use God’s word as a guide and a measuring stick for everything that we see people do, and be careful to let God help us discern what we’re seeing.

Think about it! They had the Messiah standing right in front of them, but they failed to recognize Him because they would not allow themselves to.

How do we compare? How do we react to something that God is sending to us that may be wrapped in a different package than we were expecting?

This is very good food for thought. And it’s something we should all ponder on regularly, letting the Holy Spirit keep us alert and vigilant so we don’t become like the Pharisees and other religious leaders who did everything in their power to kill the Messiah they so desperately needed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-22

John 7:39 (NKJV) 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The Holy Spirit, Whom Jesus had promised, was for every believer in every generation.

We should expect the same help and experiences from Him as what occurred during the birth of the early church.

God is not going to give to those in the that day and not give to us, in this day and hour that we live in.

He gave to us all a Helper. We must have this Helper if we want to live the life He has for us and walk it out accordingly.

Acts 2:33 (NKJV) 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

If we think we can live as a Christian, and be a good example without our Helper, we are sadly mistaken. We will struggle immensely and be in a constant battle with our own fleshly desires. And we will fail many times.

It is through the gift of the Holy Spirit that we will have the power to defeat sin and walk in obedience.

It is through Him we can be a witness and a light to others, knowing what to say and when to say it.

It is only through Him that we can do things that we would otherwise never have been able to do in and of our own strength.

It is through the Holy Spirit that we have the strength to resist the devil. It is His power in us.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We need to receive Him and let Him be our Helper. Listen to His promptings. Let Him guide us and move freely within us.

With the help of the Holy Spirit working in us we will bring forth the fruit of good character.

Jesus Christ was a primary example of that. His life was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Welcome Him into our lives. He will help us to know what to pray for.

If we want to change and be all that God wants us to be, let our Helper and Promise from above have His way in us.  Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-22

Romans 1:26-28 (NKJV) 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Before we move forward with today’s message, I want to state up front that this is a very difficult devotional to write. Not because I wrestle with the topic or the content, but because I know this can be a very hard group of verses for some to embrace.

With that said, let me reassure you that this is not being written in condemnation or any vitriolic sentiment. It is not.

It is being written because these verses state very obvious truths that some have a hard time accepting.

But truth is truth regardless of our opinions or preferences. A group of words is written or spoken with a specific purpose and a specific meaning. How we feel about those words does not change their meaning.

The color red is red, no matter what our opinion is. 2+2=4 no matter what we might try to say to change that. Some things are just absolutes, with no way around what they stand for.

And such is the case with the verses above.

With all of that said, let’s move forward.

Homosexuality is a hotly-debated topic in many circles today. We are not here to give you our opinion on it. We are here to share what God’s word says about it.

In these verses and others, it is clearly stated that it is unnatural (not normal, or acceptable in God’s eyes).

In the verses above, it also states that those who continue in these practices will be given over (abandoned by God), to receive the “penalty of their error”.

Is “penalty of their error” a literal, physical striking down by God? Not always.

Most times it is a natural process of sowing and reaping. When we sow unrighteousness, we reap from those choices.

Being involved in something that is unrighteous can be a difficult thing to escape, especially if it’s something that we have been involved in for a long period of time. It can also be difficult to escape if peer pressure is involved, causing us to resist leaving it because we’re afraid of what others will think or that we may lose some people we consider to be friends.

But let me state very plainly that if we love God, and we desire to do what is pleasing and right in His eyes, we will push all hinderances aside and run as fast and as far as we can from the sins that entangle us.

We know that most people reading this will readily agree with what is being said. But we also know that some will hesitate to embrace it. Others will outright disagree with it.

For those who hesitate, or those who strongly disagree, we implore you to read and re-read the verses above and consider them seriously with an open heart, with no influence from outside of what is being plainly stated in God’s word.

Shut out the voices that will try to persuade you that it doesn’t mean exactly what it says.

Listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit, who will lead you and guide you to the truth.

And remember; the truth will set us free, but only if we embrace that truth and take action based on what that truth teaches us.

Be free today, in Jesus’ name.
