Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-23

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

As a believer, there will be things we can’t take part in.

For instance;

We cannot watch or listen to certain entertainment.

We cannot hang out or participate in certain engagements.

We cannot speak the same language as others around us.

We cannot act up and get away with it any longer.

We cannot laugh at certain jokes, etc.

No matter how much we may want to participate in these things, we have to hold back and be disciplined, constantly keeping an eye on our reaction to things around us. It’s a full time job.

Now, we may think that life as a believer is hard and boring. We can’t do anything.

This is called the “narrow gate living”. We are making righteous choices!

Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Once we walk through this gate, we will truly begin to live in a way like never before.

This new creation that we are becoming, over time, will not miss the old life style. But we will grow to love our new way of life, and it will be well worth the effort and time we put into it.

God is good! And all that He does is good!

When we walk after Him, we too will be good.

And people will see that goodness, and know that it is from our God we serve, and this change in us has come through the acceptance of His Son, Jesus Christ and our Helper, the Holy Spirit living in us!

Psalm 34:8 (NKJV) 8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-8-23

Psalm 96:6 (NKJV) 6 Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

The enemy has a way of trying to get us down, taking our eyes off God and getting us to focus on things that are less than joyful or pleasant.

The times in which we live seem to be even more this way. And if we’re not careful, we will begin to question God, His ways and who He is.

But it’s easy to fight this if we simply put our eyes back on His majesty and magnificence.

Lately I have been spending much more time reflecting on His goodness and His majesty than ever before.

Not only does it help keep me from focusing on the evil that we see playing out, but it gives me fresh insights and an outlook of joy, instead of gloom and doom.

I will admit that some days are harder than others. But when God and His majesty are our focal point, we can’t help but stop feeling down and doubtful and begin to praise Him for His goodness and mercy.

Let us praise Him today for our blessings, instead of being angry about what we lack or bad things that might have happened to us.

And worship Him for who He is, instead of questioning His ways and allowing the enemy to drive a wedge between Him and us.

Psalm 107:31 (NKJV) 31 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-23

Exodus 31:17 (NKJV) 17 It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”

Have you ever noticed that when we are rested, we are more tolerant, more understanding, more patient, more kind and more willing to be helpful to others?

But when we are tired, we are easily agitated, annoyed, aggravated, and more likely to be sensitive.

My daughter is funny at times, she will ask me, “Mom, are you tired today?”.

When she says that, I immediately know what she is trying to get across to me.

In a kind way, she’s letting me know I’m grouchy. LOL.

It’s a sincere attempt to let me know I need to take a nap and get refreshed.

Fatigue or tiredness can be a Christian’s enemy. It can quickly impede the flow of the Holy Spirit and the strength that He offers to us.

When we are tired, we will say or do things we wouldn’t normally say or do if we were well rested.

It’s important that we notice when we need to walk away, pull back, take a vacation or even just find a quiet place to lay our head and rest for a bit.

Believers are not exempt from resting. We need to be refreshed, just as our Lord took the time to stop Himself.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-23

1 Chronicles 9:1 (NKJV) 1 So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel. But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

“But Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness”.

This is a powerful statement pointing to the willingness of God to chasten His people.

God has standards that He wants His people to subscribe and adhere to.

These are not just Old Testament standards. They apply to us today as well.

God’s mercy is real. He forgives as we repent.

But unrepentant hearts are prime candidates for His chastening.

Some nations of the world are being chastened by God right now, this very minute, for their sins and their unrepentant hearts.

It’s important for us to understand that His chastening isn’t intended for the ungodly.

It is His people, the bride of Christ, who need to repent and seek forgiveness for straying and letting our hearts become lukewarm and weak in our faith.

God has given us a lengthy season of mercy; a time to allow us to see our shortcomings.

During that time, He has held back His hand. His chastening has been delayed as He gave us sufficient time to correct our paths.

But now we are seeing things play out that are clearly intended to show us the price we must pay for failing Him.

Yes, God chastens those He loves. He punishes us when it is necessary.

Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV) 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”

It is imperative that we allow God to soften our hearts so we can recognize our sins. Then we need to acknowledge our sins, taking the proper steps to correct them and repent.

As we do that, God’s hand of chastening will be lifted, and His mercy will cover us once again.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-4-23

Psalm 108:13 (NKJV) 13 Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

To be valiant means to be brave and bold. To walk courageously, a valiant soldier. It means to be mighty and powerful.

Through God we are mighty men and women of valor!

How do we as believers walk in such bravery and boldness?

We stay close to God and walk with Him, listening and watching.

We keep our hearts soft by humbly letting Him show us how to accomplish things, even when the way He shows us might be different than what we may have thought of.

Oh boy! This is not what the world will teach us. It’s quite opposite. But it is how we win and walk in the blessings of the Lord.

Being brave, bold and courageous means not worrying about what others think or say about us. It’s living and breathing obedience while fighting off the temptations that come against us.

It’s not always as easy as it sounds. Obeying is probably the hardest thing to do even when everything in us wants to do the right thing.

Paul says it best.

Romans 7:15 (NKJV) 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

It happens to us all at times. Keep pressing in and grow stronger.

Learn from our errors and mistakes and He will tread down our enemy!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-23

Daniel 3:24-25 (NKJV) 24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

It feels like this is truly a season of “walking in the fire” for many of us in the body of Christ.

Trials and hard situations abound on a global scale during this season we are in. And sometimes that can make it seem like we’re constantly “up against a wall” that we can’t break through or climb over.

But it’s important for every one of us to remember this; those fires that can feel like they’re destroying us will purify us, and as we walk through them, we are not alone.

Our faithful Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is walking through the fire with us.

No, He is not spraying the fire with water to cool it down. Instead, He is equipping us and accompanying us so we can walk through that fire and come out the other side without even a hint of the smell of smoke on us.

This does not mean that the fire won’t affect us. It more than likely will, in one way or another. And it may even leave scars in some way.

But the effects will not kill us. They will make us stronger with a resolve that we didn’t have before the flames tried to swallow us up.

This is not being said to hype anyone up emotionally. It is not being said to minimize or make light of what anyone is going through right now.

But we need to understand that these trials we face have the power to make us stronger if we let them do their work.

Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV) 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

No, none of us likes trials. None of us asks for tribulations. But they must come. Jesus told us this (John 16:33).

So, let us lean on God and look to Him to strengthen us as we face them, following His leading as He walks us through them.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-2-23

Revelation 16:15 (NKJV) 15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

“Coming as a thief” simply means He will come suddenly and unexpectedly.

Be ready and be watchful!

The key to being ready and watchful is found in making the time for the impartation of His word daily, and keeping prayer time a priority.

Don’t look at these as, “well, maybe later I’ll sit and read if I get certain things done”.

No, it won’t happen if we have that attitude!

Go in with the attitude, “I will sit and read. I will take time and pray today”. If we do this, nothing can stop us from doing it.

The importance of staying in His word cannot be emphasized enough. It will keep us in a constant state of watchfulness, and our hearts will always be ready for Him.

It’s not easy in the times we live in to stay focused on both of these. But it is an absolute necessity.

Now, If we struggle with having time for these, then we have too much on our plates. We need to start eliminating some things or maybe even some demanding people.

What we mean by this is that sometimes certain people can take up a good amount of our time and the space in our minds and thoughts.

We need to minimize the time we spend around them or talking with them, and give more time to the things that are going to help us stay on top of our walk with God.

The Lord will come suddenly. He states this plainly.

In order to be ready, we must be in His word and have our undivided prayer time with no distractions; just us and Him.

We may not know exactly when He is coming, but one thing we know for sure is, He is coming!

Let us be ready at all times.

Matthew 24:42 (NKJV) 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-23

Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our walk with God is a walk of hope, rooted in and built upon the faith we have in Him.

This scripture says a lot when it comes to our walk and what we should expect.

Because of the hope He gives us, we will also experience joy and peace.

When do we experience this joy and peace? When we believe!

Our faith and trust in God are the catalyst that brings joy and peace.

These are not simply emotions that we feel based on how our life is going for us.

True joy and peace are byproducts of our faith and our trust in God that become more strongly developed on a level that’s parallel to our growth as a believer.

And take note of that last line of the verse above; “that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”.

You see, that line gives proof that these are not just emotions, but an outcome that takes place because of our growing trust in God.

This is not a deep spiritual mystery. It is a simple reality that doesn’t require a degree in theology, an extensive understanding of the word of God or decades of studying the Hebrew or Greek languages.

It takes only a genuine desire and a willingness to make a sincere effort to know and trust God more every day.

In this we will not only find Him, but we will also find that joy and peace that can only come by way of God’s Spirit through a deeper walk with our Savior.
