Bible Verse of The Day – 12-10-12

(2 Tim 2:19 NKJV)  Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

As I sat here today, searching for a topic for the Bible Verse of The Day, I wanted to do a message that was positive, encouraging and uplifting. We know that many people are going through tough times right now and there seem to be battles on every front.

But no matter where I looked, I kept seeing the same theme and the same message, over and over again. And it was not something that most people would consider to be “uplifting”, in the natural sense of the word.

What I kept seeing was this: Let the body of Christ depart from her sinful ways… let her keep herself pure.

So I gave in and submitted to God to share this with you today.

We are His bride. We belong to Him. He desires for us to be pure… removed from iniquity in our lives. This might not seem like a very encouraging word at first. It might seem heavy or condemning. But it’s truly not either of those things.

God wants the very best for us! Now that is encouraging. He wants our lives to be the very best they can be and that is not possible when they are full of sin, the very thing that separates us from Him.

Be encouraged today… encouraged in the fact that God loves enough to tell us what’s right for us and what’s not.

So let’s examine our lives, sincerely and honestly, and let God show us those things that He wants removed. Then we can move forward knowing that we are pleasing Him in every possible way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-24-12

(2 Cor 6:17-18 NKJV)  Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” {18} “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.”

Let us be careful who we hang around with. We are not talking here about ministering to people; this is strictly about hanging out or spending lots of time with them. Sin can bring us down even if we have no desire to do what others are doing. Hanging out with the wrong crowd can cause us to become desensitized to sin and lead us into doing things we never expected we would do.

We are called to love people, help people, and to encourage people. But some people don’t want love, help or encouragement; they want the lifestyle they live and they actually love and enjoy it. So, be careful that their lifestyle or their ways of thinking don’t get you and pull you down with them.

How do you know people’s state or condition? (Mat 7:16-17 NKJV)  “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? {17} “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Be alert, watch, and listen look for the fruit.

If you are in this place today, come out from among them! Let God be your Father and you be His son or daughter.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-12

(Rom 6:1-2 NKJV)  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? {2} Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

A couple of days ago we talked about sin and how we tend to categorize it and wrongly classify some sins as being worse than others. We then talked about how we are to love the sinner, even while hating the sin.

Today we’d like to look at this topic from the angle of the believer, not the unsaved.

As with looking at the unsaved, we as believers tend to look at ourselves and each other and lump sins into certain categories and then label them as being bad, not so bad or maybe only minor. As with the unsaved, this is completely false.

Being born again children of God doesn’t negate the consequences of sin in our lives or make it any less of a sin just because we’re saved! Sin is still sin and we need to continue to recognize it in our own lives and the damage that it can do when it goes unchecked or it gets covered up.

Adultery, fornication, thievery, lying and so many other sins committed by believers are still just as bad as those committed by unbelievers! We are no better than any other sinner. We just happen to know the One who forgives us if we ask Him,

This isn’t a “happy topic”, but it’s a necessary one. And if we ask God to help us get things right in our lives, we will be happier in the long run.

He is faithful to show us where we need to make changes and then help us to make those changes. Let’s ask Him to help us clean up our lives and stay on the path of righteousness.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-12

(1 Tim 1:8-10 NKJV)  But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, {9} knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, {10} for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine…

As we read the list of sins in the verses above, we need to note that none of them is categorized or classified as being worse than any of the others. Not a single one is labeled as “the worst” or “the least”. Sin is sin.

As humans we have a tendency to put labels or categories on sin, making one type of sin seem more evil than another type. But God doesn’t see it that way. Whether we steal a roll of tape from our employer or rob a bank, it is thievery.

Whether we tell a “small white lie” or a huge lie, we are a liar. It doesn’t matter whether we commit a sin that seems more acceptable to man or a sin that seems horrendous; it’s still sin in God’s eyes. Any of them will separate us from God and every single one of them puts us in the category of a sinner!

But God loves us in spite of our sin. And so we need also to love the sinner. It doesn’t matter if their sin is adultery, fornication, murder, thievery, lying, or whatever it might be. God has told us to love them.

Seriously… how did Jesus act toward the sinner when He walked the earth? He loved them!! He didn’t love their sin, but He was able to look beyond their sin and love them, spending time with them and showing them unconditional love.

Can we honestly say that we do this? Do we love the sinner… really love the sinner, in spite of their sin?

God does it for us. He loves us in spite of our sin and our selfish ways. If God can love us, how much more should we love others?

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-12

(Mat 15:18-19 NKJV)  “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. {19} “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

In its original context, this verse goes on to explain that eating with unwashed hands does not defile a man or make him unclean.

Jesus used this example to teach us that what’s in our hearts is what defiles us, not whether we have washed our hands or not.

He also used it to teach us that what’s inside of us will eventually make its way out of our mouths.

Have you ever caught yourself saying something that was contrary to what you know God would want you to say? Maybe you used some language that you know in your heart was not pleasing to God. Or maybe you lashed out at someone in anger, and then regretted it later on.

We all make these mistakes at times. The important thing is that we learn from them.

First, we need to learn self control. But more importantly, we need to understand that this is showing us who we really are inside; what’s hiding there in the darkest recesses of our heart.

This isn’t something that we should beat ourselves up about, but something that we need to go to God with and ask Him to take those things out of our heart and replace them with His love, grace, mercy and compassion.

God is the best surgeon there is when it comes to fixing hearts!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-28-12

(2 Cor 6:17 NKJV)  Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

I’d like to share something today, in love, hoping to bring some awareness to the church regarding a message that doesn’t get talked about much anymore.

God has commanded us to “come out from among them and be separate”. What does this mean?

He wants us to separate ourselves from the world, but not so much in a physical sense, whereby we would leave society and stay away from everyone who isn’t a child of God.

What God really wants is for us to separate ourselves in the way we conduct our lives. He wants us to remove ourselves from the ways of the world and not follow the ways of the ungodly, falling into sin and immoral living.

The body of Christ has become desensitized to the ways of the enemy and an “unholy mixture” has pervaded the church. We have taken on the standards of the world with regard to our entertainment, our daily habits, the way we talk, the way we present ourselves and the way we live in general.

God is calling us back to Him and His ways. He is calling us to come out from among them and be separate.

Let’s examine our lives and check ourselves. Let’s ask God to show us where we need to make adjustments and let Him shape our lives.

He will be faithful to show us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-26-12

(Rom 6:22 NIV)  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

Jesus died to set us free… nothing more and nothing less.

He died to set us free from sin. Sin can ensnare us and cause spiritual death. Sin separates us from God and causes a great division between us and Him.

With sin, there will come consequences. Sometimes these consequences can be small and other times they can be far-reaching, affecting us and those around us for years to come.

This is the very reason we need to make our choices wisely and carefully in everything we do.

Jesus gives us freedom to choose right from wrong. Let’s choose very carefully and make wise choices and enjoy the freedom that He died to give us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-9-12

(1 John 3:23 NKJV) And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

The love of God is what saves us. He loved us so much He sent His Son to die for us, that through Jesus Christ’s blood we are free and we can be forgiven of our sins and get closer to God and have a relationship with Him.

Sin is what tries to come between us and God from day one.

If we want change in our lives and in our situation we have to take a good look at what it is that causes us to keep falling back into the same old sinful things.

Let us get rid of the things that are coming between us and God today. The closer we come to God the easier it will be to love others and obey His Word.
