Bible Verse of The Day – 2-14-14

John 15:13 (NKJV) Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Love is interpreted by many people as many different things.

Some think of love only in a sensual way. Others may think of love simply as an emotion shared between two people in a relationship or between parents and their children.

But God’s love is different. God takes love to a level that the human mind can’t conceive or understand. God loves unconditionally. He doesn’t expect anything in return and doesn’t love us based on what we do or who we are. He loves because He is love.

God has instilled some of that love in us, though. It might be hard to see it most of the time, but it’s there.

That love is evident in acts of sacrifice, such as a parent putting themselves in harm’s way to protect one of their children, or a spouse doing the same for their spouse. It’s a love that can’t really be explained or put satisfactorily into words.

But it’s real, and it comes from God.

It’s this love that caused Jesus, the son of God, Immanuel (God with us), to lay His life down for us. This is the kind of love God wants us to share with one another.

So today, stay focused on the kind of love that Jesus displayed. It’s this kind of love that changes and saves lives, for now and eternity.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-13-14

(Matthew 7:12 NKJV)  “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

While checking out at the cash register in a store one day, I was talking to the cashier. It was a very pleasant conversation at first. But shortly after talking a bit, the conversation got turned around and next thing I knew I was being belittled. The cashier was laughing and having a good old time at my expense.

I felt disappointment come over me very quickly and my attitude started to change. My first instinct was to get upset and start thinking negative thoughts about the cashier. I had to catch myself and say no, this is not the direction we are going.

Sometimes our attitude toward a person can change very quickly when we are being mistreated and we get caught off guard. We want to work hard at treating people the way we want to be treated, not the way they are treating us at the time.

What could have been a negative situation, changing my mood and trying to ruin my day, actually turned out to be positive and a good chance for me to check myself and see where I was at.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-12-14

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

If you are in Christ, you are a new creation.

If you have accepted the sacrifice that Jesus made for you on the cross, and you have put your faith in Him, you are brand new and old things have passed away.

You are new!

You can’t change the things you did in the past, but it’s OK. God has taken them and washed them away with the blood of Christ.

The moment you put your faith in Jesus, all of the stuff from your past became history and is no longer attached to you.

Yes, there may still be some things that you’re paying a price for… consequences for your choices and your actions, but the sin itself is washed away, never to be remembered by God again.

So if the enemy is whispering in your ear about your past, trying to make you feel guilty, rebuke him in the name of Jesus and tell him to shut his mouth once and for all.

You have been bought with a price and all things have been made new.

You are guilt-free and spotless before God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-11-14

(Psalm 25:5 NKJV)  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

Waiting can be hard to do at times, especially if it takes a while to get our answer.

Sometimes I think I cannot wait one more minute. But God, in all His grace and mercy, understands me and still loves me. I don’t know how, but He puts up with me and continues to lead me and teach me.

Wait on God today. He is our salvation!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-10-14

John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Jesus is life.

Over the centuries, many different variations of the truth have sprung up, each with their own little twist on “the real thing”.

Some of these twists added things to Jesus, while others took things away. Either way, they diluted the purity of who Jesus is.

Jesus is not a philosophy. He is not a garment that you try on for a while and then cast off when you get tired of it.

If you follow Christ you are not Christian, you are a Christian. I know that might not seem to make sense at first, or it might seem like a trite difference between the two statements, but let me explain.

Being Christian implies something that you are by default, having no choice in the matter, such as your race, your gender or your nationality. You can’t choose where you’re born, what color your skin is or what ethnicity you are.

Being a Christian is different. You are a follower of Christ by choice. You chose to follow Him. You chose to accept His offer of salvation and apply it to your life. You choose on a daily basis to live for Him.

See the difference?

So know in your heart that if you are a follower of Christ, you are a Christian. You are choosing to “wear” Christ daily, to clothe yourself with Him and His sacrifice and make Him your life.

He is not our way of life. He is not our theology. He is not our religion.

He is life!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-8-14

Romans 1:20 (NKJV) For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…

His invisible attributes are clearly seen in the things that are made.

That’s a bold statement right there! Everything we see around us… all of creation is evidence of the Creator.

The God of the universe, the One who spoke the worlds into being, has created all the proof that is needed to show that He exists.

There’s nothing more awe-inspiring than looking up into the night skies and seeing the abundance of stars twinkling overhead, or the beauty of a sunset as the sun drops below the horizon.

There’s no sound more magnificent than the sounds of creation… birds singing, waves crashing on the beach, a small stream gurgling through the woods, thunder rumbling in the distance or the wind blowing through the leaves on the trees.

God has set everything in order and all that we see was created and arranged by his spoken word.

How great is it that we get to live in the world that He created?

Take time today to take it all in. Breathe in the air, listen to the sounds and gaze upon the sights of everything around you.

And then thank Him for it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-7-14

(Psalm 150:1-2 NKJV)  Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! {2} Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

We are so blessed!

We have a God that loves us! A God that cares about us! A God that calls us His children! A God that lifts us up when we are down! A God that delivers us from sin and gives us a place with Him!

A God that heals our sickness and our disease! A God that will listen to us no matter what we have done or not done. A God that gives us another chance no matter how many times we fall down. He will be there to help us up!

Praise Him for He is a good GOD! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-14

Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Most times we hear these verses being used with regard to sinners… people who don’t know God or who intentionally engage in actions that are contrary to God’s word.

Today, though, let’s take a look at it from a different angle. Instead of using it to point our finger at someone else, let’s use it on ourselves!

We all do stupid things. We make choices that are bad, whether intentionally or not. And the consequences of those choices will eventually come.

Sometimes they come very quickly, while other times they take a while to manifest. But there is one thing for sure; they will manifest!

So we all reap from the seeds we sow, whether we commit sins that are blatant or subtle. Anything that is contrary to what God directs us to do is sin. It’s just that sometimes we don’t really see it as being so wrong until later on down the road when we reap from what we have sown.

There are many areas that can fall into this “subtle” category. Bad financial choices, bad relationship choices, rebelling against authority, wasting the blessings God has given us, etc.

These are just a few. But hopefully they will help us see the meaning of today’s lesson.

Ask God to show you where you might be making poor choices and then ask Him to teach you how to do it differently. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-5-14

(Matthew 7:1 NKJV)  “Judge not, that you be not judged.

We know that no one is perfect, right? But yet at times we find ourselves frustrated and angry at those we are very close to and care deeply about, because of the wrong choices they are making.

Why do we feel like this? Two words, “WE CARE”!

When we see someone in trouble, we want to help. If they don’t let us help or won’t heed our advice it can cause us to become fearful, afraid of the consequences. This can cause us to panic and start worrying, which then can lead us into being judgmental toward them.

If we find ourselves in this position, we need to remind ourselves of this verse that tells us not to judge. If we don’t judge the person, we can be more of a help than we can be if we judge them. Remember, we all make mistakes and wrong choices at times.

Panicking will cause us to want to talk about the situation to others, hoping to find comfort or a solution to ease our worrying. Panic can also cause us to start looking at the person and judging them for choices they are making.

How do we help in a situation like this? What can we do instead of worrying, panicking or judging?  We take our concerns to God in prayer.

We show the person love in whatever way God leads us. Sometimes just being there for them as they go through things, without judging them, can be the best love and support anyone can ever show.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-4-13

Psalm 106:1 (NKJV) Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

There’s a very important phrase in the verse above; “His mercy endures forever”.

Do you know what that means for you and me?

That means that no matter what we’ve done or how many years we’ve been taking the wrong path, it’s never too late.

It’s never too late to turn to God and run toward Him instead of away from Him.

It’s never too late to make things right. And no matter what, God’s mercy toward us will never end.

It can’t! Because His word says so.

So if the enemy is hitting you with an onslaught of guilt and trying to convince you that it’s too late, or that what you’ve done is too much for God to forgive, think again.

His mercy endures forever. Run to Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-3-14

(Matthew 18:20 NKJV)  “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Togetherness brings Jesus closer.

Let us stand in the gap today for those in trouble.  We all know, whether it’s ourselves or someone else, every one of us needs Salvation.

Christ came to save the world; not just a little corner or piece of it, but the WHOLE world. He came to save that person that causes us to get irritated and want to run the other way when we see them.

He came to save the homeless person that may think they are worthless, the child that is always getting into trouble, the sister or brother that keeps purposely looking for a fight.

Christ came for that person that is suffering from hunger, and others who are being abused physically, mentally and sexually. We all are the apple of His eye and He wants us in His arms.

Let us gather together today, all over this world, praying and lifting them up, believing for His will to be done in their situation; for salvation, deliverance, healing and freedom to come in the name of Jesus Christ, to touch each heart today, drawing them closer to Him! Amen.
