Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-14

Romans 6:10-11 (NKJV) 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He died once for all.

Jesus, the son of God, came to earth as a human being and walked among men for 33 years.

He didn’t come to put on a show. He didn’t come just to be known as a good person. He didn’t come just to show people that He could teach others.

Jesus, the Christ, came to earth to redeem us from our sin. He came to bring us life to the fullest. He came to pay the price for our sinful ways and bridge the gap between mankind and God… the gap that was created by sin.

Jesus hung on a cross, held there by three large nails through his wrists and feet. He endured the cruelest of deaths as payment for the things that you and I have done; The terrible, shameful sin that we all commit throughout our lives.

Now, this isn’t being written to make you feel guilty, ashamed or condemned. Jesus took that shame and guilt onto Himself on the cross. And when He died, He offered you the chance to have your guilt and shame wiped away.

You just need to ask. You just need to reach out to Him and tell Him that you know you’re guilty of the sins you’ve committed. And ask Him to forgive you and make you new.

It’s that easy… that straight forward. Reach out and take the gift being offered to you by God, through Jesus, and be made whole and new. Done deal.

And then turn from your sinful ways and walk in life as a new creation in Christ, dead to sin and alive in Christ.

Don’t wait. Don’t put it off any longer. Today is your day. Take that step right now.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-4-14

Proverbs 11:2 (NKJV) 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.

Pride is a destroyer. Contrary to what most people are taught these days, it is not good to be proud.

Yes, we should take pride in our work with regard to doing it to the best of our ability, but this just means that we do what we should be doing. God wants us to work in all things as though we’re doing it for Him.

But pride can creep into so many areas of our lives and if we don’t recognize it, it will ruin us.

And pride can be oh so subtle. It starts a little at a time and then grows, until it has become a monster ready to devour us.

God wants us to be humble. Humility is a good thing because it allows us to hear God and accept correction when we need it.

Take a minute today to ask God if you might be getting prideful in any areas of your life. And then let’s listen intently and with an open heart for His answer.

Pride can only hurt us if we let it. So let’s root it out before it’s too late.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-14

(Proverbs 29:25 NKJV)  The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.

The definition of safe is: not able or likely to be hurt or harmed in any way: not in danger, not able or likely to be lost, taken away, or given away.

We can all agree that we like to be SAFE! In order to be completely safe we must put our trust in the Lord alone and not fear what man may say or try to do to us.

Being fearful of man brings a snare.

What’s a snare? It’s a position or situation from which it is difficult to escape.

None of us want to be in this type of position. To avoid it, we must trust in the Lord, even if at times we can’t fully understand Him.

Trust in Him and what His word says and eventually He will bring understanding.

There is safety for all those that trust Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-14

Psalm 51:17 (NKJV) 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart – These, O God, You will not despise.

This is such an important statement. Having a contrite heart is critical to our salvation.

CONTRITE: feeling or showing sorrow and remorse for a sin or shortcoming

Until we are broken before God and remorseful for our past, we can never approach Him and ask Him to forgive us.

But once we understand our lost and sinful state, and our heart is broken (contrite) before Him, we have no trouble at all falling at His feet and asking Him to forgive us and take us on as His own child.

So many of us battle with pride and our ego and it can cause us to push away from God, instead of pressing in to Him.

So let’s listen to the Holy Spirit and heed His words, and come before God humbly and with a contrite heart, and surrender to Him in every aspect of our lives.
