Bible Verse of The Day – 11-17-14

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Have you ever had surgery?

Good surgeons work with great precision. They use a scalpel to remove things from the human body; cancer, tonsils and other things that may need to come out for various reasons. They know that the life of the person they’re operating on is in their hands.

God is also a surgeon. His scalpel is the Word.

His word is used to surgically remove the things in our lives that don’t belong or don’t need to be there.

Sometimes surgery can be painful. It hurts for a while after the surgery, but then we heal and the pain goes away.

God is the ultimate surgeon, knowing exactly what we need, even when we don’t know it. What’s even better is that God never, ever makes mistakes. If God performs surgery, we should never question Him! There is no risk of malpractice with God!

Is there anything in your life today that God want’s to surgically remove? Do you have sin in your life that you just can’t seem to conquer? How about a sickness or disease? Is there worry or strife?

God can fix any and all of these. But we have to give Him permission.

Get into God’s word and let Him use it to cut out those things in our lives that aren’t good for us. It might hurt a little at first. It might even hurt a lot. But we will be so much better off for it in the long run.

And God is the ultimate healer, too, so once the surgery has been performed, He knows exactly how to makes us like new again.

God’s operating room is open. Step right in!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-15-14

Proverbs 1:20-22 (NKJV) 20 Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. 21 She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: 22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge.

Wisdom.

It’s something that we all talk about acquiring as we grow older. You know the old saying; older and wiser.

And it’s true that as we get older, we do tend to become wiser, based on our life experiences.

But it’s not necessary for us to wait and learn all of our lessons just from life. God’s word is full of wisdom that we can get simply by reading it.

Many, many centuries worth of wisdom are at our fingertips to glean from the pages of God’s word.

And God also provides wisdom for us through the people around us. We can learn so much from others, as they share their life’s experiences with us. We just need to be willing to listen and learn from them.

So seek His wisdom today and every day. Making wise choices can make a huge change in the way our lives go.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-14

Psalm 30:2 (NKJV)2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.

We all need healing from something at one time or another.

We are human.

Sometimes we get sick or injured. Sometimes we are stricken with diseases. Sometimes we may get our feelings hurt or suffer emotional trauma.

Whether it’s physical healing or an emotional healing, we need God’s healing touch.

If you are hurting today, cry out to God and let Him heal you. Be open to how He will bring the healing. Don’t put Him in a box. He is faithful to heal us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-13-14

1 Thessalonians 1:2 (NKJV) 2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers…

Today, we want you to know that we are grateful for each and every one of you.

There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t pray for you,

There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t discuss how much of a blessing you all are to us.

Each and every day we talk about how we are in awe of what God is doing in your lives.

Some of you have been with us for a few years now. Others might be receiving their very first Bible Verse of The Day today, so this will be the first one you’ve read.

It doesn’t matter how long it’s been. We take what God has given us to do very seriously and each and every person means the world to us.

So as you finish reading this, know that you are loved very much and we want God’s best for each and every one of you.

Be blessed and be strong in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-12-14

Matthew 16:16 (NKJV)16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

When Jesus asked the disciples who do you say that I am, Simon Peter spoke up and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. As Simon Peter answered Jesus, Jesus told him, on this rock I will build My church.

Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

On this rock. The rock was truth in what Peter spoke. Who is the truth? Jesus Christ,  He is our rock!

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Are we sharing the truth with others? Or have we become distracted with music, drama, titles, money, etc?

Let us come back to the simplicity of the truth, Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, the ROCK upon which the church is built. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-11-14

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

I love the fact that when God passed by Elijah, there was a great wind that came and tore into the mountains, breaking the rocks into pieces, simply by His presence! God is so awesome and powerful.

But at the same time, I love the fact that He speaks to us in a still, small voice. A voice that requires us to have faith, to be still and listen for Him.

If God moved with mighty winds and crashing thunder all the time it would require no faith or effort on our part. Our walk with Him would require nothing more than us looking for the next big crash and then knowing that God was there.

But because He chooses to speak to us quietly, it requires us to pay attention to Him and make a conscious choice to want to hear Him.

Yes, it might seem harder that way, but anything that’s really worth having takes a bit of effort on our part.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-10-14

Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Are we willing to open up today and let God examine our hearts?

Will we let Him show us if we are holding onto some unforgiveness? We may not even realize it or we may not want to know. But, if we truly want to know, He will definitely reveal it to us.

There is freedom and healing in the verse above. God is tugging on our hearts today because He wants us to be free and be HEALED!!

If you are feeling God speak to your heart and you need to forgive someone today, we are praying this prayer with you.

Dear God in Heaven,

I come to you today with a heavy heart. I have been hurt and I have become hard and bitter inside. It has affected my health. It has affected my daily living and even how I function.  It’s so hard for me to let go of this and forgive the person, but today I want to be free from this burden. I want to be free from this heaviness. I ask for Your help, to let go of it and to forgive them, and I ask for Your forgiveness for holding unforgiveness in my heart toward them.

Father,  thank you today for the freedom You’ve given me, for peace, and for victory. May You lead my steps each day, that I may continue to walk in forgiveness. Thank you.

In Jesus’ name I ask this. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer and would like to share with us, we’d love to hear from you.

God bless you!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-8-14

Jeremiah 51:15(NKJV) 15 He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.

Have you ever been around people who have been given a new position, with certain power, control, or authority and now all of a sudden they are different acting toward you and those around them?

Their attitude changed from the person you once knew, to maybe thinking they are better than or bigger than those around them. That’s called puffed up, having a big head, and being full of pride and arrogance. They let their change of position or title change their attitude and cause them to look down at others, as if they are suddenly better.

I remember as a young child, just lying on my bed thinking about how powerful our God is, but yet how good He is to us; how He loves us, and helps us, how He is there for us whenever we call on Him.

God is the most powerful of all, but yet with all the power, wisdom, and understanding that is within Him, He chooses to love us.

He chooses to be a Father to us. He doesn’t look down at us and treat us like peons and laugh at us when we do foolish things. He helps us and calls us His sons and daughters.

2 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.

This is how we need to treat others, no matter what title we have, or position we hold, or how wise we may seem. God’s example of how He treats us is how we should treat others; with love and respect.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-14

Genesis 12:2 (NKJV) 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.

We are blessed.

No matter what our situation might feel like sometimes, we are still blessed.

And God has blessed us for a reason; to be able to bless others.

Yes, He gives us the desires of our heart because He loves us and wants us to enjoy our lives, but more than that, He blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.

You see, we have to learn to live with our hands wide open. While they’re open, God can place blessings in them. But when He blesses us, we can’t clench our fists and hold tightly to those things He has blessed us with.

Sometimes God will tell us to turn our hands over and release those blessings to others. This is why we should never close our hands! If our hands are closed, we can’t let go of those things.

We should be ready, at any time, to give to others when God leads us to do so. Because we never know how that thing that we give to someone else might change their life.

Acts 20:35 (NKJV) 35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-14

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God

The salvation of our eternal souls is free… a gift from God.

He gives salvation freely, without prejudice based on our race, our ethnicity, our financial status or any other factor.

God loves us freely and offers us His plan of salvation freely.

On the other hand, our relationship with God is something that doesn’t just happen freely.

It takes effort. It takes work. We get out what we put in.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

As followers of Christ, we need to take the necessary steps to strengthen our walk with God and build that relationship into one that stands the test of time and lasts through tough situations and fiery trials.

In fact, as our relationship with God grows, the fiery trials that do come our way will show us where we’re at with Him and help us to see where we are weak and where we are strong.

And we also need to understand that growing our relationship with God won’t stop tough times from occurring in our lives, but it will equip us to handle them better and come through them without being mortally wounded spiritually.

So we need to accept God’s gift of salvation and then put forth the effort required to take those next steps and grow our relationship with Him. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-14

Proverbs 2:3-5 (NKJV) 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

Discernment.

With it, we make sound choices and follow the straight and narrow path.

Without it, we make poor choices and our feet stray from the path that God set them on.

A question we get asked frequently is “how do I get better discernment and know when God is speaking to me?”.

Our answer is always this: “Spend time with God, in His word, talking to Him and then listening for Him to speak to you. Draw close to Him. Create a clean atmosphere in your home where God’s spirit can dwell and is not grieved. And press in to Him, putting Him first in everything.”

As you do these things, your ability to hear God’s voice will increase, which results in much sharper discernment.

It’s not something that happens overnight. It takes time and it doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because you pursue it on purpose.

And what’s even better is that God gives discernment to anyone willing to submit themselves to Him. It’s not something that’s only for “special” people or people in leadership positions.

So cry out and ask God for discernment and find the knowledge of God.
