Bible Verse of The Day – 5-18-15

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV) 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Sometimes going through trials, whether it’s a family, workplace, church group, etc., can bring out some ugly stuff with those involved.

We may see things about a person we have never seen before. We have to be careful it doesn’t cause us to fall prey also, by saying things or doing things out of tiredness, sensitivity, or emotions.

Hard times and life’s challenges can cause us to split up at times, if we are not careful. We get so focused, wanting to fix the main “PROBLEM” that we can cause another one.

Our minds forget the One important thing that God says is good and pleasant. That is, staying together, especially in times like these.

It can be very hard, depending on how close the trial hits to home.

Holding our tongue, respecting and listening to what others have to say, and getting rest, whenever possible, can be very helpful during these kinds of times.

In times like these, we need to focus on holding together so that we may be able to see the problem through to the end. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-16-15

Psalm 143:10 (NKJV) 10 Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Don’t let hype or pressure move us from where God wants us to be or from what He wants us to be doing.

There will always be things that may sound good and look good to us. There will be things that will tug on our hearts, but it’s not always going to be God’s will for us.

Getting involved at the wrong time and doing the wrong thing leads to one thing; distraction. Distractions come and even though they may not seem like a big deal, they are.

Distractions take us away from the things that God has for us to do. They cause time to go by, and we can never get that time back.

We cannot let our emotions get caught up in the hype of the moment. There is no hype with God.

Take time to seek God before getting pulled into something that is not His will for us.

Every day counts with Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-15-15

Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Have you ever wondered if God would turn His back on you and abandon you?

Let us reassure you that God’s love transcends all boundaries and obstacles that we could possibly dream up.

God is not a fair weather God. He’s not here for us only when we’re on top of our game and doing everything just right.

God loves us in spite of ourselves, in spite of our shortcomings and in spite of our faults.

It’s because of these things that we so desperately need Him and it is these very things that He wants to help us overcome and have victory over.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So if you’re living in fear or if you’ve been doubting His love for you, take rest in knowing that He loves us so much that Christ died for us, even while we were still sinners.

You. Are. Loved.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-15

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

In all of our seeking, chasing and pursuing, there is one thing that needs to come first.

The fear of the Lord.

We can seek to understand as much as possible about God and who He is.

We can obtain college degrees in so many different areas of expertise.

We can become a leader in our community, our state, province or city.

We can have hundreds of friends (if that’s even possible).

But if we don’t fear God, everything else is in vain.

A reverent fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom. If we revere Him and fear Him, we will put everything else in its proper place and perspective.

If we fear Him, it will help keep us from falling into things that are contrary to His word.

If we fear Him and put Him first, so many other things in our lives will fall into place.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-13-15

Romans 1:19-21 (NKJV) 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Trying to figure God out and comprehend Him fully is futile.

God is so far above and beyond our minds, it’s impossible for us to ever put all of the pieces together and figure Him out completely.

Yes, we have His word. And by His word we learn of Him and we get a certain level of understanding. But to walk with God requires faith.

Faith can take us beyond those things that we can’t understand with our minds. Faith can show us things that our minds could never perceive. And faith can go where intellect can’t go.

Does that mean intellectual people can never have faith in God? No. But it does mean that intellectual people will need to accept the fact that there will be some things that they can never explain or fully understand, and move in faith toward God.

You see, it takes faith to walk with God and faith to please God.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So if you, or someone you know is having trouble understanding God, or some of the things happening in life, it’s time to stop trying to figure it all out.

Let’s put our trust in the God who is evidenced all around us, in what we see, touch, hear, smell and experience every minute of our lives.

Creation demands a Creator!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-12-15

2 Timothy 2:22 (NKJV) 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

God wants us to pursue Him with a pure heart.

There are so many things that will try to substitute themselves for a sincere, pure heart.

Hype, bright lights, eloquent speech, loud voices, excellent musical performances and so many other things that appeal to our flesh will try to pretend to be true, sincere worship of God.

But if our heart isn’t pure, these things mean nothing to Him. They are just noise and activity.

When push comes to shove, it doesn’t matter how beautifully we sing, how eloquently we pray or speak, how many people compliment us on the way we look, how well we teach or how great our sermons might be. If our heart isn’t pure, God isn’t in it.

Does this mean that we can’t be loud when we express our faith? Does this mean that God doesn’t like good music? Does this mean that we always have to be quiet in our reverence? Absolutely not!

We can worship God very loudly. We can dance with great joy and enthusiasm before Him, as long as it’s sincere and done from a pure heart!

Let’s ask God to check us and show us where we’re sincere and where we’re not. After all, we’re really just practicing for when we bow before His throne in heaven!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-11-15

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

He who promised is faithful.

Sometimes, while we’re going through trials, the light at the end of the tunnel can seem so far away. So far, in fact, that we can’t even see it.

And while we’re in the darkness, it can cause us to lose hope. And before we know it, we’re doubting God and questioning Him.

One thing we want to share with you today is this; We will never fully comprehend God and we will never fully understand why we go through the things we go through. We can’t. It’s just not possible.

But, as we go through various trials and tribulations, we need to hold fast to our hope, because if we lose our hope, we have nothing left.

It is our hope that pulls us through these hard times, keeping us looking toward that day when the darkness ends and this trial is over. And our hope comes from the One who gives us what we need to make it through those trials.

So keep going. Keep your eyes on the Giver of life. He holds our future, no matter what today might look like.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-15

Psalm 57:2(NKJV) 2 I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.

Are we that person that doesn’t like to let anyone help us, not even God? Do we want to do it all on our own? Do we have to be able to say, “there, I did it all by myself”?

It’s ok to be able to say this at times, but it shouldn’t be something we say when we really should have asked for help.

That way of thinking will only hurt us even more if we don’t balance it out with what God’s word tells us to do.

We do need to be responsible and do some things on our own. We definitely need to take the initiative in some things and get the job done without having to ask for help.

But, there are those things that come up and we need to know that we’d better ask for help. We need to acknowledge the fact, like that saying goes, we may be in way over our heads. In other words, it’s just too much and we need HELP!

We were not made to do everything on our own.

We can ignore the facts, and keep pushing through in areas where we know we should ask for help. But we will begin to notice certain things will take a hit because of it. Whether our health, our family, or even our relationship with Christ, etc. Most times we will suffer and others around us will, as well.

Please don’t ever be afraid to ask for help. It’s a sign of maturity, wisdom and humility.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-8-15

Psalm 3:3-4 (NKJV) 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. 4 I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

Today we want to encourage those of you who are going through a trial or a struggle.

We know that some of you are facing major hurdles and storms in your lives right now. You wake up in the morning and it seems like you’re waking to a bad dream. Reality hits you in the face as soon as you open your eyes and you wonder how you’ll make it through another day.

But we want to tell you that God has not forsaken you, despite what it might feel like. You have not been abandoned. You are not alone.

God is your shield and the lifter of your head. He knows your struggles and hears your cries.

The road we walk has mountains and valleys and sometimes those valleys can seem oh, so very low.

But this thing you’re facing will not be the end of you. It will not break you

Lift your head and cry out to Him! Tell Him how you feel and then trust Him with everything in you to bring you through it.

There will be tears cried and there will be moments when you feel like you can’t take one more step. But you can make it with His help!

This is not the end. You will have victory, in the name of Jesus.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-15

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) 18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride is a terrible thing and sometimes we can be blinded and not realize we’re walking in it.

We were invited out to dinner after a church service one day. We decided we were going to pay for everyone’s dinner. After dinner was over we went up to the cashier and took care of the bill without anyone else knowing what we had done.

We didn’t think anything of it at first. But later, after the bill never came to the table and everyone was wondering why, we noticed that the Pastor who had invited us to dinner had a disappointed look on his face, only to find out that he had wanted to be the one to pay for our dinner. Because of our pride, we ruined something good that he wanted to do for us.

On the ride home afterward, the Holy Spirit spoke one word to us; pretentious.

We’d heard the word before but never paid much attention to what it meant. So the moment we got home, we looked it up, just to be sure.

Pretentious: having or showing the unpleasant quality of people who want to be regarded as more impressive, successful, or important than they really are.

Ouch. We felt terrible. We knew it was not our place to do what we did. We gave pride a place that day.

How do we watch out for pride? We watch our actions.

It’s up to us to recognize it, and to shut it down by making a change in our actions. Or we can expect destruction to come.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-15

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Children. They bring so many different things to mind when we think of them.

Love, joy, laughter, pain, anguish, and the list could go on. Each child is unique, just as God has created each of us to be unique.

As God blesses us with children and entrusts them to us, there are things that we need to do to be sure they are raised properly.

First and foremost, we need to teach them how to love God and walk in His ways. We do this by teaching them with our words, but more importantly, with our actions.

Children watch every move we make and hear everything we say, even if they sometimes act like they don’t hear us. So it’s important that we set the best example possible for them to see and follow.

Of course we will make mistakes and mess up, but even then we have the opportunity to tell them where we went wrong and teach them about God’s grace and forgiveness.

As parents, it’s our responsibility to shield them from the things that will harm them, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Some may say that we’re sheltering them and not letting them see the realities of life.

But the reality is that there is much that they don’t need to see and hear when they are young and impressionable.

So we want to encourage you today to work hard to keep your children safe and away from the wiles of the enemy, who will try his hardest to influence them at a young age, hoping to impart even the slightest hint of doubt or deceit into their minds.

Train them up in the Way they should go. And they will not depart from it.
