Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-15

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

They shall become one flesh.

This is a profound statement and a concept that no human mind can truly understand. That two unique individuals could become one isn’t something that’s easy to understand.

But with God, things that seem contrary to our understanding are commonplace. He takes what seems illogical and impossible and makes them perfect.

God created man and woman to be together, to love and care for each other. He created man and woman to nurture each other and to help each other.

A man by himself is not complete.

A woman by herself is not complete.

But a man and woman together, with God leading them, can become complete.

Marriage is not an easy journey. It takes hard work on both parts. But when the couple puts God first, loves Him with all their hearts and endeavors to please Him in all they do, the problems they encounter in their relationship will be minimal.

So let’s be sure that we are putting God first in everything. As we do this as a husband and wife, and we live our lives to please God, we will be creating an atmosphere that will allow our marriage to grow and flourish.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-4-15

Matthew 9:13 (NKJV) 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

OK, so maybe you’ve made some mistakes. We all do. But it doesn’t mean we have to stay there. It doesn’t mean we are ruined for life.

So many times we get into situations or messes and we think that because we blew it, we are done. We just messed up our walk with God and It’s over.

Wrong!

Praise be to God, for He called the sinners to repentance!

You know the old saying “we made our bed, so now we have to sleep in it”? Well, repentance helps to get us out of that messy bed.

To repent means to acknowledge we are wrong and then change our ways. It means we acknowledge that we are sinners and we completely surrender ourselves and our situation over to Him, asking Him for forgiveness and for HELP to correct the situation and help to teach us now not to do it again. We all are sinners and we all need His forgiveness.

So know that when we mess up, we don’t have to sleep in that mess forever. We have to wake up, get up and get out of that bed! How do we do this? By making a change in our hearts, through repenting and asking for forgiveness.

God forgives us immediately, but learning how to change our ways and make good decisions takes a lifetime. Some things will come easy and some will be hard.

We have to learn how to allow God’s desires to be stronger in us than our own desires. We have to learn to listen and allow the Holy Spirit’s promptings to help us make the right decisions.

As we begin to change in our hearts, our love for God becomes stronger than our love for ourselves. Causing us to want to make the right decisions all the time.

Do we always get it right? No. Sometimes we will and sometimes we won’t, but we always keep trying.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-2-15

Proverbs 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

A kind word can make the difference between someone having a good day and a bad day.

Have you ever been having one of those days where nothing seems to be going right, and the world is falling apart around you, and then someone says something to you that turns things around for you?

As followers of Christ, we need to be one of those people who turns someone’s day around with a kind word and a gentle smile.

Harsh words, spoken with the intent to insult or tear down, do no good for anyone. We need to be sure that our words are being filtered by the Holy Spirit before they leave our lips.

Yes, there will be times when we need to speak firmly, but never with the intent to cut or harm someone.

So as we go through our day today, let’s be sure to let the Spirit of God be in control of our mouths so that when we speak, the words that come out are edifying and uplifting.

Let’s be that person that makes a difference in someone’s day 🙂

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-15

Proverbs 22:15 (NKJV) 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Children are a blessing from God. They are gifts.

And yet, they are our responsibility. As parents and grandparents, we are tasked with making sure they are raised properly, learning to show respect and love for others, be polite and, most importantly, honor God with their lives.

God promises us that if we raise them up in His ways, and if they honor their parents, He will bless them and they will live long in the land.

From the time they’re born until the day they leave home, we need to be sure we are doing right by them by loving them and disciplining them. Loving them is usually the easy part. Disciplining them isn’t always so easy.

But it’s a necessity and if they go without discipline, they will have a tough road ahead of them. Children who lack discipline & correction tend to grow up not understanding that there are rules and laws to follow in life.

And as they are unruly and spoiled in their childhood days, so will they be in their adult life.

So we need to be sure we are correcting them, in love, and teaching them that choices have consequences. And as we do so, we are preparing them for life as a responsible, God-fearing adult who will honor God with their life and respect those around them.
