Bible Verse of The Day – 8-20-16

Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Hope. It’s what our walk with God is based on. It’s what our eternity is based on. Without hope, our lives are pretty pointless. But with hope, our lives are meaningful, bountiful and beautiful!

Sometimes the situations we face can make us feel hopeless. Believe us when we tell you that we know from experience. We have been there.

But when we hold fast to our hope, and to the God and Father who gives us that hope, we come through those trying times with new faith, new hope and a bigger trust in God.

Lamentations 3:24 (NKJV) 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

God is calling us to trust Him in everything. He wants us to have such hope and faith in Him that it permeates every aspect of our lives.

Does that mean that we will live like Christian superheroes, never making mistakes or never having a weak moment? Nope!

But it means that we will look to Him in everything that we do, every choice we have to make and every situation that we encounter.

Why? Because we understand that He is the one who gives us hope; that incredible hope that gives our lives meaning and gives our souls reassurance that somehow everything will work out, despite what our eyes see in the natural.

And as we continue to hold onto that hope, our lives will be transformed, one day at a time, so that this hope we speak of becomes the very foundation on which our lives are built.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-16

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV) 7 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh. What is the filthiness of the flesh that Paul is referring to?

Galatians 5:19-21(NKJV) 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

These things are the filthiness. These are the things that we need to cleanse ourselves from.

Some of us have been trying but we are having a hard time with it. It has a hold on us and we can’t seem to break free.

When we find that we can’t stop what we are doing it may be because of two things. First, it may be that we love what we do and we don’t want to give it up. We love our sin.

Or second, we may have opened the door to this thing and don’t know how to shut it.

What do we do in this case?

First and foremost, we need to be serious about giving it up or stopping it. We can’t play games with it. We can’t be saying one minute that we want to stop and then the next minute that we want it back. That’s not being serious.

Will it take work to break free? Yes. Absolutely. But it will be worth every bit of work that it takes!

Many times people see the problem, but when they realize it’s going to take work, they talk themselves out of it before they even get started. Some things take time. It won’t just get better overnight.

If one of these fleshly things has a grip on us, we need to deal with it and let God set us free, even if it means taking steps we never have taken before.

We shouldn’t focus on how much work or how long it will take. We are going to look to God and take one day at a time.

Make a decision today. Filthy or Cleansed? Bound or Free?

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-18-16

Galatians 5:25-26 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Envy and conceit are things that even we Christians have to deal with at times. Just because we have the Spirit of God living in us doesn’t mean we will not have to deal with our flesh. Our flesh is ALWAYS there. We just have to learn how to deal with it when it rears its ugly head.

Learning to walk in the Spirit will take time, teaching our flesh to get used to changing things up and listening, instead of just doing what we usually do.

Keeping the flesh in line with God’s Spirit can be tiring at times, especially when we’re first starting to learn this new way of living. If we’re not careful, it can wear us out, causing us to give up easily and give in to those fleshly desires.

But God is with us even when we are tired. He will help us and give us rest as we lean on Him for guidance, strength and wisdom to do the right thing at the right time.

Exodus 33:14 (NKJV) 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

If we are feeling tired today, constantly fighting the flesh, we need to remember that God’s presence is there with us. Lean on Him. Talk to Him and let Him know. He will help us get victory over the flesh.

Sometimes we have to make adjustments. But whatever they may be, follow His steps.

And we need to always remember that changing the flesh doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. But over time we will grow and learn how to walk in the Spirit and deal with the flesh when needed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-17-16

Romans 14:8 (NKJV) 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.

This verse brings great comfort in knowing that we are the Lord’s, for those who sincerely and truly believe in Him. We are His!

While we live here on earth and when we pass on, we are His. While we are here, He will guide us, protect us, carry us, lift us up, help us and provide for US as we trust in Him!!

No matter what, we belong to Him. He will be there for us.

John 1:12 (NKJV) 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Enjoy your day knowing that you are the LORD’S! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-16-16

Luke 12:15 (NKJV) 15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

It’s safe to say, that if most of us were to stop and take a serious look at why we do a lot of what we do, we would find (if we’re truly honest) that much of it is due to what we saw someone else do or because of something they possess.

Now, sometimes we do buy things simply because we like them. But much of what we do is driven by covetousness, even if we don’t realize it at the time.

Covetousness can cause us to make choices and decisions that we normally wouldn’t make if we were to look at things through the eyes of common sense. But because we have been marketed to over and over again, and our brains have been trained by large corporations to think a certain way, we make most choices without thinking much about them.

But there’s another side of covetousness that we want to talk about today. It’s the side of it that can cause us to be discontent. We’re never satisfied. We always want something more, something bigger or something better. And this happens, most times, because we’ve seen what someone else has and it appealed to us.

But God warns us about this.

Deuteronomy 5:21 (NKJV) 21 ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.’

Obviously, there aren’t many societies today where we would be coveting a neighbor’s donkey, but how about their car? It’s safe to say that the donkey of the days of Moses has been replaced by today’s automobiles.

And then there are houses, spouses and other things that people have or possess. None of these should be the object of our covetousness.

The more we look and the more we covet, the more discontent we can become. And as we become more discontent, we spend more time and effort pursuing things, instead of pursuing God.

Let’s put our priorities in order, seek God’s forgiveness for our coveting and discontent and put our time and effort into pursuing the Creator, rather than the creations. For He is faithful.

Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV) 5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-15-16

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Want to find God? Seek Him!

Many people have made a mystery out of finding God. It has been said by many that God is difficult to find. But most times the difficulty is only a perception, not a reality.

God is always there and always available. He doesn’t hide Himself or run from us when we seek Him.

On the contrary. God wants us to seek him!

He has made it clear in His word that if we seek Him, we will find Him. And if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

The key to it all is this: seeking Him with all our heart.

He wants us to seek Him. He desires that we push hard to grow our relationship with Him. And He rewards those who make the effort to do so.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So this is the “secret” to a stronger and more rewarding, fulfilling walk with God.

Seek Him and search for Him with all your heart. And you will find Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-13-16

Psalm 103:11-12 (NKJV) 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

God’s mercy is ready and waiting for us. We just have to reach out and take it.

His word says that His mercy is great toward those who fear Him. Are we in need of His mercy today? Have we made bad choices and fallen to temptation?

Have we made a mess of some things and we want to get back on track?

God is able. And He is willing. We just need to humble ourselves and go to Him in reverence and a holy fear.

This doesn’t mean we need to fear going to Him. It means we need to revere Him. We need to hold Him up high and understand that He is God and He is far above us. His ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He is holy and without sin or darkness.

1 John 1:5 (NKJV) 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

And as we go to Him in holy fear, He has mercy on us and our sins will be removed from us as far as the east is from the west!

They can no longer torment us or taunt us. As we confess to Him, they are wiped out and gone forever.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Today is the day to let it go and give it to God once and for all. Put it behind you and start fresh.

And remember that the enemy has no power over you except what you give him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-12-16

Proverbs 11:2 (NKJV) 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

No matter where we are at in life, it’s always important that we remain humble and teachable.

We can be the CEO of a major company or we can be jobless and without a place to live. No matter what our position or situation in life, humility is a critical attribute that we always need to pursue.

Sometimes we can get ourselves into some pretty deep trouble when we get prideful. We may not even know we’ve become proud or haughty, but God will always be willing to give us an attitude adjustment when we need it!

And let’s just say that it’s much better for us if we recognize our pridefulness and make the adjustments ourselves than for God to have to do it for us.

And pride can creep into our lives in such subtle ways that we might never believe it if someone told us that we’re proud.

So let’s do some inventory of our life today. Have we become prideful or boastful about anything lately?

Are we holding our heads high because of some of our accomplishments or because of our financial status?

There can be many, many things that we get prideful about. But none of them is worth us getting into hot water with God and causing Him to have to rebuke us and correct us.

Let’s check ourselves and root out that terrible thing called pride, before it causes us to fall.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-11-16

Psalm 149:4 (NKJV) 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

The Lord loves us, cares about us and has compassion for us. He enjoys us, helps us, and holds us!

He watches over us, spends time with us and is there for us!

He has given us the greatest gift anyone could ever give us; Salvation, eternal life, happiness with Him forever!

We are blessed to have Him as our Lord, and to share our life here on earth with Him and eternal life in Heaven with Him. He takes pleasure in each one of us!

Rejoice in Him today, for He is our everything! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-10-16

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NKJV) 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

We want to tell you today that YOU are doing a GREAT job!

You’re facing trials and struggles but you’re doing your best to hang in there. You are trying to do the right thing. You haven’t given up, you are still STANDING and that is all that is required.

We can’t worry or compare ourselves with others and where they are at in their life, because everyone is in a different place. Some may be celebrating a victory, while others are fighting to make it through a battle.

We can absolutely learn from others at times, but as we are learning we can’t compare our situations or where we are at to theirs. It can cause discouragement.  Everyone is in a different place, working on different things in their life.

I remember one day I was praying and I heard, “you are doing wonderful.” I was like, “what? Who me? I really didn’t think so”.

That was my reaction to what I heard. But God wanted me to know how He felt about me. Who was I to disagree with Him?

So today, despite how you see yourself or feel about your situation, we are saying to you, keep on standing, take one day at a time and keep looking to God. You are doing a good job!

Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV) 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-9-16

Job 19:25 (NKJV) 25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;

Job went through some serious stuff! His entire life was turned upside down in less than 24 hours.

During that short period of time, he lost his children and all of his earthly possessions. The only thing he had left was his wife and a few friends. And even his wife and friends were no help to him as he went through his trials.

But despite the severe trials that Job faced and went through, he never lost his faith in God.

We always hear about the patience of Job, which is somewhat true. But even more than patience, Job had strong faith. Had he not had strong faith, he would have turned his back on God and walked away.

But even after everything he went through, Job could boldly say “I know that my Redeemer lives”.

Let Job be an example for all of us to follow in our own lives.
