Bible Verse of The Day – 7-20-19

1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 (NKJV) 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.

Learning to live a clean life is all part of being God’s child.

We are probably going to have to let some old habits go, and pick up some new ones. We may have to let go of certain friends, as well, and those things that affect us in a bad way.

For instance, maybe we have enjoyed hanging out with certain people up until now. Changing our stance in life will cause us to change our surroundings. We may no longer feel comfortable being around certain situations, or certain types of entertainment and activities. We may find ourselves troubled or getting irritated when we are.

This is not a bad or negative thing. It is normal. It is the voice of holiness speaking to uncleanness saying, “you are not welcome here any longer.” And we can’t reject the voice of holiness.

When we become God’s child it will feel like we are more conscious of our behavior and actions. We will be convicted strongly at times. The worst thing we can do is to ignore it. It will only cause us to be miserable.

If we let holiness live and speak to us, and we follow that leading, we will remain in the peace of God.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-19

Luke 12:54-56 (NKJV) 54 Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. 55 And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

Jesus was pretty direct with His reprimand of the people in these verses. He wanted them to understand the importance of discerning the times in which they were living. He deemed it important enough to scold them for not having understanding in this area.

And so it is with us, over 2,000 years later. We live in a time where technology is part of our everyday lives. We can use that to do so many things, including predicting the weather days in advance.

But, even with today’s technology, many people can’t see the times in which we are living and accurately discern the spiritual seasons.

Why?

Because understanding the spiritual seasons doesn’t require technology. It doesn’t even require intellectual adeptness. It requires a sharp and alert spirit. It requires spiritual discernment.

Spiritual discernment doesn’t come easily. It takes sincere, honest effort on our part to draw near to God and make the effort to hear Him when He speaks. We need to have eyes to see and ears to hear what His spirit is saying.

We live in perilous times. The spiritual atmosphere is very much alive and active. Warfare is taking place every minute of every day that we can only see and understand when we have sharp discernment.

Whether we see and understand it or not is up to us. We can choose to remain blind to the things that are happening, or we can ask God to give us sight, so we can accurately see and discern the times and the seasons in which we live.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-19

Psalm 23:1 (NKJV) 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

We shall not want.

The Lord is our light, our strength, our refuge and our Rock. He’s merciful, kind, compassionate, and forgiving.

Every good and perfect gift is from Him. He does not change.

He is our Provider. He is patient. He is our Healer, our Shield and the lifter of our heads.

Psalm 3:3 (NKJV) 3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

He is everything we need and more. He sustains us and helps us to see what is important in this life that we live.

This is a journey for all of us, and we must take it seriously. He has a plan and purpose for us while we are here. And as we seek Him, He will lead us through it.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-19

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV) 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

God has taught me a lot about mercy over the last several years.

He has shown me the importance of it in my own life, as I have reflected on where God has brought me from, and what He has brought me through.

As I look back over the years, I can clearly see where God has shown me mercy and intervened on my behalf in certain situations and circumstances.

Many, if not most, of what God has rescued me from was due to poor decisions and choices on my part. And it’s safe to say that this would be true for most of us if we were all to look back at our lives.

Very rarely did He have to show mercy because of something anyone else had done to me.

I am so very thankful for that mercy. Without it, I really don’t know where I would be today. But I do know it wouldn’t be where I am right now.

It is His great mercy and His grace that I was rescued from my sins and made alive in Christ. And it is by His continued mercy that He holds me up and guides me each day.

Thank you, God, for your mercy toward each of us. Let us see the value of that mercy and get understanding that will help us comprehend it more each day.

Amen

Bible verse of The Day – 7-16-19

Colossians 4:6 (NKJV) 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Letting our words be seasoned with grace and salt comes only one way; by prayer, and by staying in the word of God on a regular basis.

God has a way of teaching us, with love, through His scriptures. And He corrects our attitudes, bringing us wisdom and discernment as to what may really need to be said at specific times.

Sometimes we may not want to say what God reveals to us. However, if we say it with grace, even though it may sting, it will be a “good sting” that will ultimately bring freedom to the hearer.

Will people get angry with us if God uses us to point out to them their sin, their misunderstanding or their wrong direction? Yes, even if our words are seasoned, because the truth they carry may not be what they wanted to hear at that moment. They can and will deliberately treat us badly because of it. But, remember, we are not people-pleasers. What we do and say with God is only to bring healing, recovery and His truth to that particular situation.

Is someone mad at you today? Do you feel like you spoke with grace, and you brought the truth to a situation, and now you are taking the heat for it?

Matthew 18:15 (NKJV) 15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

Stand strong in what you feel was right, and let God work out the details and bring forth good fruit.

Don’t take it personally or hold it against them. Just keep moving forward. It will all come around in its time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-19

Job 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Job had just received terrible news that he had lost everything in a very short span of time. He had gone from having a family and being wealthy with material goods, to losing it all.

Imagine how he must have felt. Despair would most likely be an understatement. He probably felt hopeless, dejected and despondent.

Job did what people did back then when a catastrophe struck. He tore his clothing and shaved his head.

But notice what he did next. He worshiped God.

This is one of the most interesting aspects of these verses. Despite his great sorrow and his terrible loss, he worshiped God in the midst of it all.

How many of us would worship God if disaster such as this struck us?

Most of us would more than likely be in deep despair, with worshiping God far from our minds. But this is a good test for us, to measure where we’re at spiritually.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be sad or we shouldn’t mourn the loss of someone we love. But it’s a good reminder to check ourselves and our priorities, to see where we’re at.

Every situation is different. And each of us is in a different place spiritually. So, it’s not a terrible thing if we don’t drop what we’re doing and begin worshiping God when something bad happens.

But, as we ponder on this, it should give us some insight as to where our priorities are.

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ!

God has given us the privilege of communicating directly with Him at any given moment. We call it prayer.

Prayer is essential to our growth and strength as a believer. Without it, we will eventually wither and die.

So, in our newest video, Pray Without Ceasing, we talk about the importance of making sure we take the time to pray, even during our busiest seasons in life.

We feel like this is a very important message for today’s busy world, so we hope you will take a few minutes to watch it.

Please click here to watch it now.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-19

1 Peter 3:10 (NKJV) 10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.

Our words hold weight. So, watching what we say can be a full-time job.

Taking our time speaking, instead of just blurting things out can sometimes be critical. It will help us to get a handle on this and teach us that our first thoughts are not always the ones we should say out loud.

Taking our time before speaking will help us hold back that tongue, and keep us from getting in trouble and saying the things that are not right.

Our minds may try to justify it in that moment, telling us that we have every right to say what we want. But if we take the time to think it through, we will see our thinking can be off at times.

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

An uncontrolled tongue coming from a believer in Christ will immediately turn off any unbeliever and keep them from wanting to hear anything we have to say regarding Christianity.

Forget witnessing to them. We lost them right off the bat. Even though they may use bad language, gossip or speak harshly themselves, they will judge our actions because of the label we wear. And they will think that we are not different in any way, rendering our words useless.

A heart that has truly been changed will change our tongue, change our actions, and change our love for others.

People outside of Christ know what to look for in a Christian even if they never have stepped inside a church.

Remember, if we want to help change the world, we need to start with our own tongue, by keeping it tamed.

James 1:26 (NKJV) 26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-19

Jeremiah 23:24 (NKJV) 24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.

There is nothing we can hide from God. He sees everything and knows everything.

Often times we will read something like this and look at it from the perspective that He sees all of our faults, our sins, our shortcomings. And while this is 100% true, we also need to look at it another way that can seriously impact our lives and the way we see God.

God sees all, including our deepest fears, insecurities and doubts about ourselves.

It’s OK, though. Because He wants to help us with them!

God doesn’t want us limping through our lives, spending our time and energy hiding the things we wrestle with. It doesn’t matter if it’s a past sin that keeps taunting us, a temptation we struggle with or if it’s a fear of being alone. It doesn’t matter what it is.

He holds the key to set us free from those things.

Today is the time to finally lay these things down at His feet, ask for His forgiveness, His help and His mercy. And then leave it right there… at His feet, never to be picked back up again.

Go ahead. We encourage you to do it.

It’s not always easy, but it’s necessary if we truly want to be free.

And here’s the coolest part. When we do that, when we lay these things at His feet, He will not only give us His peace, He will take those things and help us to defeat them, leaving them behind us for good.

Go ahead. Today is your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-19

John 8:32 (NKJV) 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

There is probably something we all think we need today that we hope will help us in whatever situation we are in, and bring freedom to us. We think it would be the very thing to  make everything better.

If we were to take a survey and ask everyone to name one thing that will help you today, many will say money. Some may say a relationship or a spouse. Others may say having children. Some might want or need healing. And many may say work, a job or a career.

All these things are nice and will probably bring pleasure to our lives. Many will overlook the ONE most important thing that we need to have in order to maintain a life of complete freedom.

We can have all these things in life and still feel empty and enslaved. If we want to be able to enjoy life and all the blessings around us, we need the truth!

We are missing out on a huge part of life if we do not have the truth. What is the truth?

We need to know we are loved, we are forgiven, and we are saved and set free.

How? Through Jesus Christ. He is the Truth that will save us and bring us into freedom.

John 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If we accept the truth, Jesus Christ, we will live here on this earth in total victory every day. We may face things that are hard, or maybe even horrific, but knowing His truth will give us strength, peace, and understanding that will carry us through any trial we face.

Don’t worry about money, a career, a spouse, children, etc. Get the Truth in us and acknowledge Him and He will direct our steps, bringing everything together in the way that He knows is best.

Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV) 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-19

Psalm 145:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.

There is much written in the Word about glorifying God, bringing glory to God, etc. Our lives have but one real purpose; to bring glory and honor to His name throughout the earth.

We are even told that He is a jealous God.

Exodus 34:14 (NKJV) 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

Now, that might seem OK to us, since we are His children. But someone less familiar with God may look at that and think that God is selfish or self-centered because He wants all of the attention.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

It’s impossible for God to have anything like this (self-centeredness, selfishness, etc.) in Him, since He is holy, pure and just in all of His ways.

There is no darkness in Him.

1 John 1:5 (NKJV)5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

It’s important for us to understand that nothing impure, unholy or unjust comes from God. The opposite is very true, though.

He is the creator of all good things and wants only to show us His love, mercy and compassion.

James 1:17 (NKJV) 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

The closer we get to Him, and the more we know Him, the better we will understand this.
