Bible Verse of The Day – 11-8-19

Romans 12:1 (NKJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Reasonable: Fair, sensible, practical, decent, realistic.

Sometimes it’s easy to overlook what God really wants for us and from us. We get caught up in our lives, trying to keep a handle on everything that’s going on.

In the midst of that, we forget that God asks us to make ourselves a living sacrifice to Him.

God never asks us to do something that He doesn’t equip us for. Oh, it might not always be easy, but He has equipped us nonetheless.

Sacrificing ourselves is one of the hardest things He asks us to do. There is no doubt about it. But He says it’s our reasonable service.

Other translations take it one step further, using a word other than “service”. Let’s check them out: Truly the way to worship Him, Rational, logical act of worship, True and proper worship.

So, it’s easy to see that what He asks of us is about more than us just submitting to Him. It’s about us giving our bodies to worship Him, each and every day.

In doing this, we are setting ourselves apart for God, giving Him permission to use us as He sees fit.

Now that’s quite a bit different than what the world tells us, isn’t it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-19

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NKJV) 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Our flesh, like the grass, withers away. And the glory of men falls away. The only thing that endures forever is the word of the Lord! Amen.

We don’t need to put so much emphasis on becoming something or someone great! If it happens, then so be it. But let’s not knock ourselves out trying to make it happen.

All God asks from us is to be ourselves, who He made us, through Christ’s redeeming blood.

If we are going to put emphasis on anything, put it into working hard at following the Lord’s commandments. That is what matters most to Him.

We need to learn how to allow His Spirit to move in us each day. He is our Helper. He gives us power, strength and the love we need to walk out His commandments accordingly.

We can do nothing without Him. We need to be connected if we hope to bear fruit.

John 15:5 (NKJV) 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Let’s get close to our heavenly Daddy.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-19

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

One of the most incredible things about the word of God is the life and the power it displays.

The word of God is alive. It is never static. It has what we need for every situation in our lives, no matter what we might come up against.

This is why it’s so critical that we spend time in the word!

What we see in one light today may very well speak to us tomorrow in a very different way. That’s the beauty of it. It is very much alive.

As we mature in our walk with God, we will learn to see more and more in His word that speaks to us on a very personal level, touching us in ways that we can apply directly to our lives; ways that change us in a lasting, profound manner.

We just have to be willing to let God’s spirit speak to us and reveal the things to us that God wants us to have understanding in.

As we say so often, this is why it’s so critically important that we make sure to spend time in God’s word. It is our lifeline, our source of wisdom and understanding.

Start small. A little here, and a little there. And then let God slowly immerse you in it.

It will eventually become what you look forward to each day, feeding you and sustaining you through thick and thin.

And as you do this, your world will be opened up more and more to God’s ways and the path He has set your feet on.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-19

1 Chronicles 16:34 (NKJV) 34 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Let’s find the good things today that we can give God thanks and glory for.

Maybe we have just been released from a rehab.

Maybe we are on our first day of giving up smoking, alcohol, over-eating, coffee, fits of anger, etc.

Maybe we are having a pain-free day.

Maybe we were able to pay our bills and buy groceries.

Maybe today is the day we are going to forgive someone that has hurt us.

All of these things, and many more that I have not listed here, can be so HARD at times to do. The flesh is a stickler for sure and is tempted to do the opposite of what is the right and good thing.

I thank God today that we are trying! If we fail, I still thank Him for the effort that was put forth. And that we have another chance, because tomorrow is a NEW day.

Don’t give up. Keep trying!

We love you very much and we are praying that we all get to where we need to be. Amen.

Colossians 1:3 (NKJV) 3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you…

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-19

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Have you ever noticed how when we want something, we want it now? We want it right away.

We don’t want to wait. We don’t want to take time to work toward whatever it might be we want. We just know that we want it, and we want it right now.

Some of us are so impatient that we want it yesterday!

God has His ways of doing things. And our flesh has its way of doing things. The problem comes because our flesh doesn’t understand or like the way God does things, especially when it involves waiting.

But one of the most valuable lessons we can learn as children of God is to wait on Him. Plain and simple. We wait.

Have you ever seen a child who wants something, but they have been told by their parents that they have to wait for it?

We’ve probably all been in a store somewhere and heard a child having a tantrum because they have been told that they can’t have that thing that they spotted and want their parents to give them right now.

Now that’s not usually a pretty picture.

We may be adults, but we sometimes behave the very same way with God when He doesn’t respond to our requests when we think He should. And this can get us into all kinds of trouble if we don‘t get a handle on it quickly.

We may have a tantrum. Or maybe we go ahead and pursue whatever it is that we have asked God for, without waiting on Him or His timing. And then we wish we had waited.

God does not force His desires on anyone, including His own children. That’s not His way of doing things. He simply wants us to learn to wait on Him.

The verse above lists many benefits to waiting on Him; renewed strength, soaring like eagles, running without growing weary and walking without fainting.

Some of these are symbolic. It isn’t possible for any of us to fly like an eagle in the natural. It is, however, possible for us to rise above our circumstances if we allow God to lift us above them.

And as for renewing our strength, running without growing weary and walking without fainting, these all refer to the fact that if we patiently wait on God, trusting that He knows what is best, we will not grow tired, become exasperated or give up hope.

Our trust in Him will cause us to prevail, no matter what we face. Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-2-19

Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV) 23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

Knowing what to say at times not only helps the situation, but it brings us great joy. Words are powerful. Spoken in the right tone and in the right timing, they bring great relief not only to us, but to whoever we are speaking them to.

They are blessed by our words if we are speaking them with the right intention and from a good, clean heart. These kinds of words take root and bring change.

Let the Holy Spirit guide our tongue. Pull back when we don’t know what to say. Hold our tongue if we are angry and irritated. Wait until we know for sure.

God is faithful to help us in times when words need to be spoken to turn things around.

Proverbs 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-1-19

1 John 4:19 (NKJV) 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Different people love God for different reasons.

Some love Him because He has rescued them from something terrible, like maybe drug or alcohol addictions.

Some love Him because they live a beautiful life and are blessed with wonderful family and friends.

Some may love Him because He healed their body from a terrible sickness or disease.

Others may love Him because they have been blessed with great material wealth, and they see God as the provider of that wealth.

Still other people may love Him because He saved them from their sin, offering them eternal life through Jesus Christ.

While these are all good and acceptable reason to love God, in the end it all boils down to loving Him for one reason alone; because He loved us first.

You see, without Him loving us first, none of these other things matter. And without Him loving us first, none of these other things would be possible.

So, today, let’s make sure we understand and acknowledge God’s love for us, and see the true value of that love. For without that love, not a single one of us would have a single thing that’s worth anything.

We love Him because He first loved us! Amen!
