Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-20

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

The phrase “More than conquerors” is another way of saying “super-victorious”!

Christ has conquered death. And because of this great victory on His part, we are more than conquerors through Him, as we put our trust and faith in Him.

Our belief in Him gives us the victory! Amen.

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NJKV) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

If we believe Jesus is the Christ, we are born of God. And the victory we have is through His love for us and our love for Him.

Love is a big part of this relationship. It will cause us to want to do what is good, right and just. It will lead us into obeying His word.

1 John 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.

We’ve got the victory living on the inside of us and we are super victorious; more than conquerors!

Now that’s something to shout and dance about! Let us give Him our praise today, as He has given us victory through salvation.

Psalm 149:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-7-20

Genesis 3:8 (NKJV) 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

As I was studying, and I read this verse recently, it got me to thinking about humanity, and how we all tend to react the same way to certain things.

I can relate to what Adam and Eve did. Let me share a little story with you.

When I was 5 or 6 years old, I remember giving myself a haircut while I was at school. As I sat at my desk and snipped away at my hair with my scissors, I thought about how surprised my mom and dad would be when they saw it. I was, after all, doing them a huge favor so they wouldn’t have to bring me to the barber to get it cut.

Well, to make a long story short, after I cut my hair, I began to realize that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea. So, when I got home, I got off the bus and went and hid under the dining room table.

Part of me was still excited to show my mom my new look. But another part of me was a bit afraid.

Well, the afraid part of me turned out to be right. My mom wasn’t pleased at all. And I was disappointed, both in her response and in myself for being foolish.

Do we do the same thing with God when we make poor choices as adults? Do we hide from Him, like I hid from my mom, and like Adam and Eve hid from God?

It’s important to know that when we make a mess of things, we don’t have to hide. In fact, hiding is the worst thing we can do. The best thing we can do is to confess it and take care of it right away, as soon as we possibly can.

God is merciful. He wants us to come to Him and confess.

And if we really think about it, He knows already anyway. So, hiding from Him and trying to run away from what we’ve done only makes things worse.

Let’s not be like me when I was a kid, hiding from my mom under the table. And let’s not be like Adam and Eve, hiding from God in the garden.

Go to Him. Confess. Repent. Learn from it. And move on.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-6-20

Genesis 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

When God was done, He took rest. We’d better know the importance of this kind of rest!

Last week we decided to take a “God rest”. We did a “stay-cation”.

But, as each day came and went, we slowly began to fill it up with helping people out when needed.

We realized a “stay-cay” really wasn’t working for us.

In order to rest the way God wants us to, we’ve realized that we have to uproot ourselves and just get away from it all.

God knows, we have seen pastors who didn’t take the time to break away, and they got burned out.

We pray God gives us the wisdom to take proper rest when needed. His work is far too important to us. And at times, in order to do what He wants us to do, we must have a sufficient amount of quietness, with no plans.

It’s very important for all of us to take rest when we need it.

So today, if this is speaking to you, make it a priority to get proper rest, where you can shut down and not even think.

Everybody is different in what makes them pull back and really get rest. So, find what works for you and be content in it.

If God has told us that we need to rest, then we need to be sure to listen and do what he says.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-5-20

Philippians 3:14 (NKJV) 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Life can be odd at times.

Sometimes we have goals and desires that we work to attain. We want to advance in our careers or on our jobs.

Or maybe we want to learn a new skill.

Maybe we want a relationship with someone so we can get married and raise a family.

All of these are good. They all have merit. And God will often bless us by allowing them to happen in our lives.

We often receive emails and prayer requests from people who are looking for direction, or are hoping for some kind of support in their quest to reach a goal.

We reply to them all, and very often with the same kind of message or answer. So, we thought we would share that in a devotional, to help give some direction to everyone who reads our emails and social media posts.

As we mentioned above, working toward goals can be very good. We should all have some direction in our lives. Without goals and direction, we will wander aimlessly.

In the midst of this, however, we need to stay focused on the One who matters most. He is our ultimate goal and the prize that we seek.

If we get caught up in the things of this world, our walk with Him will suffer and become weaker than it should be.

That’s the last thing we want happening.

So, be sure to keep Him at the forefront of all we do and all we endeavor to do.

When our heart is aligned with His, He will give us what we desire.

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-4-20

Proverbs 10:21 (NKJV) 21 The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.

Do we ever wonder why some of the things we say aren’t taken seriously by those who hear them? Or maybe they hear them and get angry with us and cut us off.

The truth can sometimes hurt or sting, and bring conviction. But we must speak what God puts in our hearts. Of course, doing so in His timing and with the right tone can make a huge difference.

God’s word spoken from our hearts will feed many. The question is whether they will swallow it or spit it out. That is not for us to worry about, though. We just need to keep on feeding.God will do the rest.

Sometimes we will feel God moving in the things we are saying. But looking at the person we are speaking to, they appear to be oblivious to what we are saying or referring to.

We can’t let this distract us. We need to pray that, in time, as they ponder on those words, they will take root.

The seed was sown and planted. That’s what’s important. Now may it be watered. Keep saying what God puts on our tongues. It’s not for us to worry about the outcome of it.

He knows what He is doing, and if we continue to obey His promptings, the words that come out of our mouths will feed many, and many will take it to heart.

Don’t give up just because some seem to have refused what we have shared. Press on.

Keep on speaking it in love.

It’s so very important we keep on with a heart of expectancy and share the things God has taught us personally through His word.

Acts 4:20 (NKJV) 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

Go, brother and sister. Be ready. The things you have to share are necessary, in God’s timing.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-20

Exodus 3:14 (NKJV) 14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

If there is one thing that I have learned about God, it is this; He is who He is, and what we think about it doesn’t really matter.

Whether or not we like some of the things He does doesn’t sway or change Him. He has His ways, and, most importantly, He has His reasons for doing what He does the way He does it.

We would probably all like to see Him do some things differently. But if we truly understand who He is, we will stop questioning what He does, why He does it and how He does it. And we will also stop questioning His timing.

We know in part. We have limited understanding of who He is and why He does certain things. But His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9 (NKJV) 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

So, it’s safe to say that we won’t always understand Him completely.

But that’s OK. He doesn’t expect us to understand everything. He just wants us to trust Him and follow Him as He leads us.

And when we can start doing that, letting Him be God, while we work on the trusting and obeying Him, we will all be much better off. And our walk with Him will flourish.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-1-20

Exodus 19:8 (NKJV) 8 Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.

We cannot trust in ourself to obey God or to be able to do what He asks us to do by our own strength and wisdom. We need to learn to depend on our Helper…the Holy Spirit.

In the verse above, the people of Israel promised to do what God had asked them to do.

Not long after that, when Moses took longer than they expected to come down from Mt. Sinai, they immediately abandoned their promise to God and did what they thought would be best, only to bring corruption on themselves.

Exodus 32:7-8 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ ”

How quickly they turned from what God had commanded them. That is human flesh at its best.

We cannot do what God asks us to do on our own. We need to let Him lead us by His Holy Spirit.

How many believers today struggle with trying to obey God’s word on their own?

This brings so many failures, and is very discouraging at times. It can cause us to want to give up completely when it comes to trying to follow and obey Him.

God gave us His Holy Spirit. Let Him be the Helper He was meant to be.

He will guide us through our daily walk, giving wisdom, discernment and the strength to actually do what is required.

We are not strong enough on our own to fight our fleshly desires and push back the thoughts in our minds. But with the Holy Spirit, we can get it done.

John 14:26 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

We need our Helper.
