Bible Verse of The Day – 11-7-20

Exodus 14:10 (NKJV) 10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord.

Most times, fear will cause us to cry out to the Lord.

We all have this in common. We get scared, and then we cry out. It’s a normal reaction. And situations of desperation will bring us to our knees.

Pharaoh let the children of Israel go, but when God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, (Exodus 14:4) he chased them down.

The Israelite’s were scared and upset with Moses for taking them out of Egypt and leading them into the wilderness. They thought they would have been better off staying in bondage to the Egyptians.

But God showed them His miraculous hand when He parted the Red Sea to walk through and then closed it back up while the Egyptians were chasing them down. The entire Egyptian army was destroyed in the sea.

Exodus 14:27 (NKJV) 27 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

How scared are we today? Are we so scared we are wishing we could go back into bondage because we don’t like the looks of the wilderness or the new journey God has put in front of us?

2 Kings 17:39 (NKJV) 39 But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”

Someone reading this is getting ready to be set free. Don’t fear the enemy and give up.

Stop and pray this through.

God will not take us out of a place if He does not have a plan and a place to lead us into.

He is our Deliverer!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-20

Judges 13:1 (NKJV) 1 Again the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.

I have spent a fair amount of time in the Old Testament over the last few months.

During this time, I have made an observation that is truly saddening. In fact, this morning while I was shaving, I was listening to the book of 1st Chronicles, and I heard the phrase “and he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord” yet again.

I literally shook my head in bewilderment at the people of Israel, wondering how they could have been so callous in their attitudes toward God. How could they continue, over and over again, to defy God and turn their backs on Him?

My question was somewhat rhetorical, I guess, because I already knew the answer.

Their hearts were never really for God. They just wanted whatever He would give them.

Time and time again we read how God would bless His people. They would serve Him for a short period of time, and then they would turn to other gods.

Eventually, God would become agitated with them, and His wrath would be poured out on them in one way or another.

This was usually in the form of various sicknesses or diseases. Sometimes it was in the form of being captured by foreign leaders and taken into captivity for a number of years.

God clearly punished them for their lack of loyalty. But the punishment was also for their behavior; their abhorrent actions that were a stench in the nostrils of God.

One other thing I noticed is that it wasn’t just the nation as a whole that was guilty. Individuals carried this attribute too, doing evil in the sight of the Lord. And they paid the price also.

But in all of this, something else stands out clearly. And it is this; when the people’s hearts turned, and they sincerely repented, God’s mercy was always right there to make a way for them to come back to Him and live under His blessings.

There is so much we can all learn from this when it comes to how our actions affect the path of our lives.

And here’s the “moral of the story”. Love God. Put Him first in everything. And walk in His favor.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-5-20

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The word of God is so very important to us. We hold onto it for our lives, because it gives us life and keeps us going down the right path.

One of the biggest questions we get from people all around the world is, “how do we hear from God?”.

And the 2nd biggest is, “how do we know what steps to take or when to make a move?”.

These are two very big questions for all of us. And although we would love to give each and every one of you a step-by-step plan as to how to know, the safest and clearest thing to say is, “get it in the word.”

The understanding of God’s timing, and His answers for you are hidden in the scriptures.

We have to seek Him to find them.

We will always hear from God when we are in His Word.

Now, here is the important thing we all need to remember and to know for our own situations. We need to get all of the Word for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

This doesn’t mean we have to read the whole Bible at once to get our answer for the situation we are in now.

But it means we need to be able to read and study without skipping the sections that we don’t think pertain to us in this day and age we live in. You know; those things that don’t seem relevant because of the difference in cultures between then and now.

It’s also important that we remember that it says “all scripture”, not just part of the scriptures.

This is where some get confused and go off on the wrong road. They only take part of the scripture, and because of this, they don’t ever get the fullness and the balance they need.

We would never order an ice cream cone and settle for just the cone. We want it all!

If we got the cone with no ice cream, we would know right away that we were missing something! We’d be like, “Come on… where’s the best part of it?”.

Some of us are settling for just the cone.

We need all the scripture working in us to be able to reach our destination, fix our errors and walk in righteousness. We need it to bring balance in every area of our life.

Read the whole Word of God. Be thoroughly equipped for every good work! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-4-20

Psalm 119:40 (NKJV) 40 Behold, I long for Your precepts; Revive me in Your righteousness.

King David was ahead of his time. He was one of very few people who understood that God’s laws could not make us holy, nor could they give us a close relationship with Him.

Instead, he understood that if he grew his relationship with God, he would also have a stronger desire to walk in God’s precepts and please God along the way.

This is something that we all need to understand.

Following a set of rules doesn’t make us righteous. Doing what someone tells us doesn’t make us holy or sanctified.

Even today, living under God’s grace, there are still way too many people who think that following a prescribed set of steps or rules will draw us closer to God. This is 100% false.

God Himself tells us that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

He also tells us that if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NKJV) 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Nowhere do we ever see God telling us that if we keep a set of rules that it will cause us to walk more closely with Him.

We urge you to draw near to Him. Seek Him with all your heart.

When we do this, then, because we are closer to Him, we will begin to walk out His precepts in our lives as He transforms our hearts and renews our minds.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-3-20

Psalm 119:103 (NKJV) 103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

When God answers us, we know it.

It is so satisfying, so complete, so unbelievably fulfilling.

At one time in our lives, we were starving for an answer for a situation we were in. We cried day and night, for we knew not what to do.

We wanted to do the right thing, but we hadn’t a clue as to what it was.

Am I talking to someone today? You’re there right now.

We saw things happening around us, and we knew that change was on the horizon. We just didn’t know what that change was quite yet.

And I will add…it’s an uncomfortable place to be when we haven’t the know-how, the know-what or the timing of it all. We feel like we are just in the air waiting for something to fall on our ears or in our heart. Something with substance to it.

When we get it, and when the word of the Lord hits and we see the answer, oh how sweet the sound of it!

Let me say it is like honey to our mouths. It is sweeter than sweet. Why? Because it’s the WORD that we needed, and everything in us says, “YES and Amen!!”

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-2-20

2 Samuel 22:31 (NKJV) 31 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

We live in crazy times. “Normal” life seems to be a distant memory for most, if not all of us.

Every day seems to bring new challenges, navigating uncharted territory.

And there is an unending onslaught of events almost every day that makes me shake my head, as I observe so many depraved people around the globe who want to control how we all live as though they are God Himself, while they live their Godless lives.

There’s no doubt that we are moving quickly into end times. There are signs of the times all around us.

And if we’re not careful, we can quickly fall into panic mode, letting everything that we’re seeing happen tear our faith and trust in God to shreds.

It’s times like these that require us to trust God more than ever, letting Him shield us from the chaos that we see all around us, and not depend on our own understanding to pull us through it. Because we all know how that works out.

So, trust Him. Let Him lead. And whatever you do, don’t lean on your emotions or your own understanding.
