Bible Verse of The Day – 5-9-25

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Life has a way of passing by like a blur.

We blink and years have gotten away from us.

James 4:14 tells us that life is but a vapor that appears for a little time. And then it is gone.

So, we must understand the importance of this as we live each day.

Knowing how short life is, we should make our choices wisely when it comes to the things we do, the things we hold onto, and the things we let go of.

So many things vie for our time and attention. It feels like there’s a relentless flood of demands grasping at each minute of the day, trying to claim and steal them away from us.

All of this can have a huge impact on our walk with God and can detract from it if we allow it to.

So, what do we do? How do we ward off the constant pull these things have on us?

Most importantly, we make God our highest priority.

We put our walk with Him above all else, making sure to give Him preference in everything; every choice we make, every action we take, and every word we speak.

We put down our phones. We turn off the TV. We walk away from the computer.

And we pick up the word of God and immerse ourselves in it.

We learn to listen for and obey His voice and His leading in our lives.

We do the things that reflect God and His kingdom. We love others. We give of our time, and we give of our finances.

And, as the verse above says, we focus and meditate on the things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and virtuous; the righteous things of God.

Doing this leaves little or no room for things that are dark, divisive, unholy, irreverent, immoral, or corrupt; the very things that will try to steal us away from God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-8-25

John 14:27 (NKJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jesus, also known in Isaiah 9:6 as the Prince of Peace, gives to us His peace…Wow!

How do we get His peace?

When we call upon the name of Jesus Christ for salvation, He will live in us, help us, be there for us, guide our steps and show us the way to walk in His peace every day.

What does His peace do to help us?

His peace puts us in a state of rest; our thoughts and mind will be calm. His peace will keep us from strife. And it leads us into tranquility.

What has you anxious or worried today?

Are you struggling with restlessness? Do you wake up at night scared, afraid to face tomorrow?

Call upon His name, and may the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace to carry you through.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NKJV) 16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-7-25

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

His mercies are new every morning.

This phrase is familiar to most of us. We probably hear it often.

Maybe we hear it frequently enough that it has become somewhat cliche, causing the depth of this truth to slip by us.

The fact of the matter, though, is that it is true. His mercies are ever new.

Perhaps we may not have given this much thought. We just take it for granted.

Or maybe we have only recognized the grace of God when it comes to our redemption, and not regarding our daily lives.

We know that we are saved by God’s grace and His mercy.

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;

But God’s grace doesn’t end there. His mercy does not stop once we begin walking with Him.

On the contrary, His mercies are an active part of our lives until the day we pass from this life into eternity.

If His mercies only applied regarding our redemption, and they stopped once we are “saved”, this would mean that from that day, forward, our sins and shortcomings would be piling up for the rest of our lives with no way to take care of them.

Our growing list of transgressions would leave us perpetually wounded, hobbling, and without hope of any help whatsoever.

But along comes God and His mercy as we cry out for His help, and He rights our capsized ship, making it seaworthy again.

What’s even more important to understand is that He does this for us repeatedly. He is a God of unlimited chances.

Does this mean that we should live our lives, flippantly abusing His mercy and grace?

Absolutely not!

But as we come to Him with a sincere, remorseful heart, crying out for His help, He will bathe us in His mercies and set us on the right path once again, freeing us from the weight of our failures.

And this is the beauty of serving a merciful, compassionate, loving God who desires only that we serve Him wholeheartedly and with genuine reverence.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-6-25

Psalm 40:1-3 (NKJV) 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me,  And heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3 He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.

I love how David said that he waited PATIENTLY.

Waiting patiently is not the same as just waiting.

The word patient means to be able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.

Waiting patiently is a whole new level of waiting.

It is waiting without putting up a fuss.

It is waiting and keeping quiet, not complaining while waiting for the answer.

It is waiting without telling everyone what you are going through and how long you’ve been dealing with it.

To sum it up, waiting patiently is trusting God’s timing, God’s answer, and God’s steps.

What happens when we wait like this? God hears us!

That’s right! We may be very quiet or still, but He hears our cry through our heart. This is amazing!

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Know that He is God and He will bring us out of our situation as we follow the steps He gives us.

Let us shout from deep in our spirit a new song of deliverance! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-5-25

Matthew 7:24 (NKJV) 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

Since we moved to North Carolina a little over 3 years ago, we have had the opportunity to watch many new homes being built in our community and other communities around us.

The warmer climate in the south has afforded us many opportunities to spend time outdoors, walking and riding our bicycles. And many of those treks have helped us discover new neighborhoods being developed.

We have watched as plots of land have gone through the various stages of planning, excavating, and other forms of preparation for new homes.

And then we get to witness the houses being built, from excavation, to concrete footings being poured, to the final touches being added just before the new owner moves in.

In all this observation, we have witnessed different methods of laying the foundation for a home.

And this has shown us things that are both, good and bad, at least in our opinions.

I am not a builder. That is not my area of expertise.

But I understand the principles of structure well enough to know that certain principles hold true from one building to the next.

And here is the truth; if a building is constructed on a cracked or faulty foundation, it is doomed from the start.

I have witnessed firsthand the problems associated with a home that has cracks in the foundation, or a foundation that was not properly prepared and created. The ensuing headaches associated with such defects are far reaching. And many are devastating for the home’s owner.

And this is why it is critical for us to be sure that our eternal hopes are not built on a cracked foundation. Or worse, a foundation made of sand.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY foundation upon which our walk with God should be built.

Anything less is doomed to failure at the risk of eternal separation from God, the One who breathed life into our lungs.

So, let us be sure that our “house” is not built upon sand, but on the Rock, Jesus Christ, the true Son of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-25

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

People today have become very desensitized to sin and the ways of the world.

Many children of God have even fallen in line with the crowds and are actively participating in ungodly things with little or no conviction on their part.

This message may be just a gentle reminder to some. But to others it may be an eye opener.

If we are Christians, followers of Christ, we need to remember that our bodies are no longer ours. He bought us with His precious blood that was shed on the cross. His Spirit lives in us.

If we allow Him to, He will help us and give us the strength to overcome the lusts of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Knowing that He dwells in us, we must understand that if we don’t overcome these sins in our lives, and we continue to participate in them, we are involving Him in, and exposing Him to, what we are participating in.

We need to understand that the choices we make will either glorify Him or grieve the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Let us ponder the things we do each day.

We must examine our routines, our habits, and our entertainment, knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in us. We literally take Him with us wherever we go.

Are there changes we can make, even in the smallest areas?

We are responsible for keeping our temples clean. Let us continue to walk in His Spirit daily that we will glorify Him in our bodies!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-2-25

Luke 12:48 (NKJV) 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

As Jesus spent time teaching His disciples, He shared many things about the futility of storing up earthly treasures while failing to store up heavenly treasures, stating that a fool “is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

It was during this time of teaching that He taught them that worrying is useless and accomplishes nothing.

He also gave many examples of servants who were given certain responsibilities by their masters. Some servants were faithful with those responsibilities while others were slack and irresponsible.

And during one part of this, Jesus spoke the words in the verse above.

He wanted the disciples to understand the weight of the understanding they were being given.

He taught them that those who had no understanding could not be expected to meet the standards of those who had received teaching and divine revelation.

However, those who had received much (teaching and understanding) were given a greater responsibility. And were held to higher standards because of this.

This applies to you and me as well.

As children of God, we have received a miraculous, divine gift; the gift of salvation, having our sins washed away by the blood of Christ.

We have been given divine understanding by the Spirit of God, and by His word.

We have been given much!

Therefore, because we have been given much, much is required of us.

We are expected to meet higher standards than those who have not received this gift.

God desires that we take this for what it is; something very precious (valuable), and very serious.

And that we bear the responsibility of it carefully.

How do we do this?

We learn to live and walk by faith, led by the Holy Spirit in all things, that our words and our actions would bring glory and honor to God.

And that when our days on earth end, we would hear Him say, “well done, good and faithful servant”.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-1-25

Genesis 2:23 (NKJV) 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

God put Adam into a deep sleep, and as Adam slept, God took one of His ribs and formed Eve.

Afterward, when Adam awoke, he knew she was now part of him because she was taken out of him.

This is symbolic of the way God intends marriage to be.

God can take two people who are opposite in many ways and bring them together as one.

When we surrender our marriage to Him, He bonds us together in unity by His hand. We learn to love, live and grow as one, with Him as the head of all that we do as a married couple.

To have such a beautiful oneness with each other, we must learn to love God first.

And as we look to Him for guidance throughout our marriage and follow His commandments together, we will grow closer to Him individually, and as a couple.

In turn, the unity in our marriage will grow stronger than ever.

Oneness is so very important in a marriage.

Being one in marriage doesn’t mean we lose our identity as a person.

It means we come together and add to or share who we are in the relationship, allowing God to weave us together so that we can complete or complement each other beautifully!

What weaknesses we may have we can overcome as a couple when we put Him first and work together to help each other grow in those areas.

Marriage is intended to be a lifelong, beautiful gift from God. Together we work toward becoming ONE with each other, with God at the head of it all!

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
