Bible Verse of The Day – 7-19-25

Proverbs 1:7 (NKJV) 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

What kind of fear is being referred to here?

This fear does not mean to be terrified of Him, but to have a deep reverence, respect, and awe for Him; knowing His power, His holiness, and His authority.

We can only get this by learning of Him and knowing Him deeply by having a close walk and relationship with Him.

Who wants knowledge? Not everyone.

Some people would rather do things their way, even if they have messed up their lives repeatedly. Even though they have hurt many people around them, they still want it done their way.

But most believers do want His knowledge. They want to know everything about Him, surrendering to Him right from the beginning of saying yes to Him!

Teach us everything about YOU, Lord. We want to know YOU more!

As we learn more about Him each day, we will grow into this verse. It takes time but as we seek God for answers, understanding, and then we see His victory in our situations, we will learn of His faithfulness and His deep love toward us.

The closer we get to Him, the more we will have such a reverent fear toward Him.

He wants all of us to be walking out this verse, that we will have His knowledge that brings wisdom and instruction daily to His children.

Grow closer, and see Who God is!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-25

Matthew 16:21 (LSB) 21 From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.

As the day drew nearer for Jesus to be crucified and sacrificed for the sins of humanity, He tried to drive this home with His disciples.

He wanted them to understand His purpose as a whole—not just while He was with them.

It was a weighty topic for them to understand. This was clear by Peter’s reaction, as he pulled Jesus aside and rebuked Him for saying these things.

Matthew 16:22 (LSB) 22 And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.”

It’s important for us to remember that in yesterday’s devotional, we heard Peter proclaim that Jesus was the Son of God, as revealed to him by God.

But in this instance, Peter was rebuking the long-awaited Messiah and setting himself up to be rebuked. Let’s look.

Matthew 16:23 (NKJV) 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

And just like that, Peter had gone from speaking words inspired and revealed by God, to speaking words that were equated to Satan himself.

And what about John the Baptist?

He had previously proclaimed that Jesus was the lamb of God.

Matthew 11:2-3 (NKJV) 2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

How could two people who had been given divine revelation about Jesus change so quickly? How could they question who Jesus was, and what His purpose was?

By “getting in the flesh” and forgetting what God had revealed to them.

It can happen in a split second, taking us from Spirit to flesh. And we suddenly start to question what we knew to be absolute.

This is the reason that we must walk by the Spirit; to listen intently for the voice of God, and live by that voice.

The Spirit of God will show us truth. The flesh will fail us every time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-25

Matthew 16:15 (LSB) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

As Jesus walked with the disciples, He asked them some questions that would reveal their understanding of who He was.

He started by asking them who people were saying He was.

They answered and told Him what they had been hearing others say.

He then asked them who they said He was.

At this question, Peter piped up immediately!

Matthew 16:16 (LSB) 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Peter exclaimed that Jesus was the Christ (Messiah), and the Son of God.

Jesus confirmed this by telling Peter that what he spoke was not revealed to him by human flesh, but by God Himself.

Now, let us also look at a similar example, but with John the Baptist.

As John saw Jesus, he proclaimed to everyone who He was.

John 1:29 (LSB) 29 On the next day, he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Peter and John both recognized Jesus for who He was; the Messiah, God’s son, who had come to redeem mankind.

If we were to leave this here, we would think that all was well. Peter and John had it all together and would never have any doubts about who Jesus was, or why He had come.

Oh, if it was only this simple. There is no happily ever-after with this one.

Tomorrow we will take a closer look at what happened, not only with Peter, but with something a bit more subtle that took place with John sometime after he had proclaimed to the world that Jesus was the Lamb of God.

We hope you will join us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-25

Psalm 102:25-27 (LSB) 25 Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 26 Even they will perish, but You will remain; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. 27 But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.

Our lives are temporary.

The earth is temporary.

The heavens are temporary.

Everything we pursue and chase after while we are here is temporary.

What is not temporary?

God.

God is eternal. He always has been, He is now, and He will be forevermore.

Understanding this changes our perspective. It rearranges our priorities.

It shows us where our energy and efforts should be directed. And it is not on the things of this world.

So many times, we lose sight of the fact that our life is but a moment; a mere flicker that is momentary.

Does all of this seem morbid?

It isn’t. It is factual. And it should grab our attention. It should jar us awake us if we are serious about our walk with God; our eternity.

Where our time, attention, and money are spent shows us where our heart is. It reveals our heart, and shows us our priorities.

Let us love God more. Let us learn of Him and seek Him daily, drawing closer to Him with each day that passes.

This is not cliche’. It is truth that we must understand and embrace.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-25

Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Good works; when we are struggling!

Good works; when we are tired!

Good works; when things aren’t going so well, on the job, at home, in our relationship!

It’s in those moments that “good works” stand out the most.

Are we ready for the challenge?

Are we ready to show good works no matter what we may be facing? Can we be steady, even in times of difficulty?

We will give it our all and then some, because God is our strength! He is our Rock!

He is right here with us to produce such a “LIGHT” that men will see and give Him Glory!

Are you in a place today that causes you to say, “I don’t have it in me, I’m dealing with my own situation and the light in me seems dim?”

Today is your day to step out in faith and let God move through you with supernatural strength. You will be that city on a hill so all those around you can see Him.

Matthew 5:14 (NKJV) 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Push through it all today and shine bright!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-14-25

Numbers 14:4 (LSB) 4 So they said to one another, “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt.”

I have never been to Egypt. But recently I felt compelled to go back there; back to a place I have never been.

Let me explain.

A little over 3 ½ years ago, at God’s prompting, we moved from RI to NC.

We didn’t know exactly why we were to move. We just knew it was so.

And we obeyed, selling most of what we owned, packing up what little remained, and driving 750 miles to our new home in a place we did not know.

We had lived in RI for a long time. In fact, Pastor Ellie was born there in the town where we lived. It was her forever home.

For me, I had lived there since 1975; more than 45 years.

We had built our lives together right there in the smallest state, in a tiny town.

And then we left. We pulled out of our garage at 3:50 AM one morning and never looked back.

We knew it was a big move. But we didn’t comprehend how big. In fact, it would take a long time until we truly comprehended the magnitude of what we did.

In building our lives there, our roots had grown very deep.

We had created a way of life that involved people, places, and activities; things we were intimately familiar with and very comfortable doing.

It is safe to say we have many great memories there.

So, as we settled into our new place in NC, we went through a variety of emotions; joy, excitement, sorrow, loneliness, and a feeling of great loss.

Leaving behind those 40+ years’ worth of familiarity left a gaping hole in us in ways that we had not foreseen.

Even now, after more than 3 ½ years, I have struggled with this from time to time.

And recently, I almost went back to Egypt, to do some of the things I was so intimately familiar with.

The door was opened for me. But I chose not to go back.

I recognized it for what it was; a step backwards to try to hold onto what was gone.

I have shared this, not to draw attention to myself, or to solicit sympathy.

I shared it with the hope that it might help someone who is wrestling with the same thing; facing the same struggle.

Don’t go back to Egypt. It’s not worth it. Doing so only prolongs the struggle. And it puts the chains back on us that God broke for us when He told us to leave where we had grown so comfortable.

Leave Egypt where it is; in the past. And look only forward to what God is doing in the new land that He has brought you to.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-25 – Keep Your Lamp Full

Please click to watch the video.Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus!

We have an important question today.

Is our lamp full of oil?

Are we like the wise virgins, or the foolish virgins Jesus referred to in one of His teachings?

That is the question we ask and discuss in our newest video, Keep Your Lamp Full.

In this video, we discuss the symbolism of what Jesus said, and then we teach about the real-life everyday application of it in each of our lives.

We hope you enjoy the video!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-12-25

Mark 9:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

When we realize we don’t have to fight this battle on our own, what a relief it is!

We all want the help. We just find it hard to ask.

We have all kinds of excuses or reasons. But the most frequent one is we don’t want to bother anyone.

Or maybe we simply don’t want people to know that we are having a hard time. We don’t even want God to know.

And thus we miss the powerful answer He gives us in this scripture; praying and fasting.

We need to realize there are seasons of life that can be very hard to deal with on our own. They will crush us if we don’t ask Him for help.

Maybe someone today is there right now.

Prayer and fasting are powerful together. They are what gets us from A to Z. From lost to victory. From hurting to joyful! From failing to conquering! From anxious to peaceful!

They are not optional…but a must in certain situations.

Let us join together with you in prayer and fasting, that you may get past this crisis and see the hand of God move on your behalf!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-25

Luke 6:45 (LSB) 45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil. For his mouth speaks from the abundance of his heart.

Here we are, and it’s already Friday!

Let’s talk again today about the human heart ❤️

No, this is not about ventricles, chambers, or aortae. It is about the condition of our heart, where everything that we do emanates from.

What is described in the Bible as the heart is symbolic. It represents our soul, our will, and the mechanism by which we make decisions.

We choose right or wrong based on the condition of what the Bible refers to as our heart.

Despite it being symbolic, and not at all related to the physical muscle that pumps blood throughout our bodies, this concept is critical in our daily lives.

It is a truth that is far-reaching, with implications in every aspect of life.

We can do things to protect our physical heart; eat right, exercise, etc.

But when it comes to the mechanism by which we make choices, there is no amount of proper diet or physical exercise that can help it obey God and make right choices.

The only thing that can help us in that area is to love God and immerse ourselves in His word.

As mentioned previously, it is our love for God that causes us to obey Him and want to honor Him with our lives.

And that love and reverence for Him will not grow if we fail (or refuse) to spend time in His word.

Yes, we have free will. We can choose what to do or not do. We can read and study His word, or we can choose not to.

But our lives will reflect our choices even in this. And our relationship with God will grow or stay small and weak based on what we choose.

Let us choose to love God above all else, that we would honor Him with every action we take, letting His light and His love shine through us onto everyone and everything around us.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-25

John 14:14 (NKJV) 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

One evening when we were on the lake, the clouds were very dark, and the sky looked ominous.

We had just put the boat in the water. And I was a little nervous because here in the south the weather is different than the north. Thunder and lightning storms hit quickly, and the rain is very abundant!

I was praying, “please, God take these clouds away. We want to enjoy our evening.”

As I looked around, it seemed like nothing was changing at all. The clouds weren’t moving. It was like they just hung over the lake.

We got out our rods and began fishing, while keeping a close eye on the sky. And we stayed close to shore, just in case we had to pull off quickly.

As we proceeded to fish and enjoy the evening, the clouds began to change. Right in the middle was an opening, and a beautiful ray of light shown through it!

I thought, ah how beautiful God is!

Then the clouds began to thin and change direction. And we had the most amazing evening of fishing while enjoying such a gorgeous sunset!

Ask, and move on. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
