Bible Verse of The Day – 10-20-25

1 Corinthians 15:10 (LSB) 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain…

As I was shaving one recent morning, I had a thought pass through my mind very quickly about how much God has changed me through His transformative power.

I was also listening to my Bible app on my phone at that time; again, something I do every morning.

And within just a minute or two after pondering how much God has changed me as a person, the Bible app read a scripture out loud that matched the exact thought I’d had, almost word for word. It was the scripture above, but in the NLT translation, below.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NLT) 10 But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out His special favor on me—and not without results.

This was a confirmation that what went through my mind was not just a mere human thought, but God dropping it into my spirit so I can share it with others.

You see, part of the process of us maturing as a believer is realizing and understanding God’s transformative power.

It is by this power that He takes us as we were and makes us who He desires us to be.

He does His part flawlessly.

Our part is to humble ourselves and submit to His will, allowing Him to mold us and shape us into a vessel through which He can flow, pouring Himself out onto those we encounter in our lives.

It is only His grace, and the Holy Spirit working in us, that can accomplish something so miraculous.

It cannot be done by human will. For our hearts are far too dirty to allow us to accomplish this by our own strength.

So, we encourage you today to submit and surrender wholly to God. Let Him work His will in you and transform you by His grace and by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-25

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We show our faith by the peace we have no matter what state we are in or what trials in life we go through.

If we are going through something today, let’s stop and take a look at how we are carrying ourselves.

How are we holding up?

Are we going around spewing our sorrow and frustration to everyone? Or are we holding it together, carrying on and trusting God for His answer and His timing?

If we are that person that can’t think or talk about anything else other than our problems, and it’s all that is on our minds all day and all night, more than likely our faith is not in God, but in ourselves trying to figure and work it out.

We can’t just walk in faith when things are going well for us. It’s when things are in shambles that our faith is tested.

We must remember that we are not alone. Let the peace of God guard your heart as you walk through the valley of death.

When trials come, let His peace guide your steps.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-25

Acts 16:30-31 (NKJV) 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.

In Wednesday’s devotional, we referred to the word believe, and what is inferred by that word in verses such as the one above, and in other verses like John 3:16.

We mentioned that “believe” in these contexts means more than just believing that something is true.

We stated that the type of belief referred to in these verses is much deeper, implying a deep trust.

Today, we’d like to do a little deep dive into this word, believe, so we can all understand it better.

To truly understand “believe” in the context of these verses, let’s look at the Greek word that is used, and see what we can glean from it that will help us grow in our understanding.

In English, “believe” often suggests a cognitive agreement or simple acceptance that something is true.

πιστεύω (pisteuō) is the Greek word used for “believe” in these verses. πιστεύω carries a much deeper meaning than just believing something is true.

πιστεύω suggests a deep-seated trust, reliance on, and adherence to the person being believed.

It is relational (significantly meaningful) vs. transactional (casual, social in nature, or based on reciprocal give & take).

When we get this understanding, it changes us. And it changes our walk with God because we now see clearly what it means to believe from a Biblical perspective.

This causes our relationship with Him to become deeper and more intimate.

So, let’s remember that it is not enough to simply believe that something is true. But that our belief must be one that is rooted in a deep trust that spawns a deeper intimacy with Him. 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-25

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

A few years ago, I felt like the rug was pulled out from under my feet. My security, and what I saw as my safety net was gone. My stability was shaken!

So many big changes happened very quickly.

Afterwards, I had no idea why I felt the way I felt. I was so focused on my calling, but I still felt unstable; unsure and caught up in a whirlwind. I was stripped of everything that I  knew, and I was feeling empty.

My faith stayed strong, but I felt different somehow.

Something was being shifted. I lost that feeling I had before and couldn’t understand what had happened to it.

Where did it go?

The stability, the joy, the solid ground; where is that feeling?

I kept thinking, why, God, do You feel you are so far away? Why do I feel alone at this time? I have an emptiness I have never felt before.

I realized that I was in mourning for the things that were removed from my life. My grip had been tight. I was comforted by them. My happiness was in them. And with this change came a deep cleansing.

When we get stripped like this, that is when the test becomes real. Don’t’ look at it as a bad thing. It won’t kill us, although we may feel at times like it will.

It’s going to show us the depth in which those things held us. And if we will let God replace them with His stability, joy and solidity, we will find true peace and comfort!

Trust God when it’s time for things in our lives to be removed. Trust Him on this journey. He knows what is best for us and He cares for us dearly.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-15-25

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

This verse contains a simple statement that is much more powerful than most of us understand.

We often hear people speak of accepting Jesus as our savior. We are frequently encouraged to do that by those who want to see us saved from eternity in hell.

But there is much more to this than being saved from hell. There is a deeper side to this than many fail to share.

For us to understand the depth of this verse, we must also look at other verses.

Acts 16:30-31 (NKJV) 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

In this verse, Paul and Silas told the man that he must “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” to be saved.

This verse is often taken at its simplest meaning, leaving behind what is actually being implied.

To “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” does not simply mean to believe that He exists. Even demons believe and tremble (James 2:19).

It implies a deep faith; a trust that causes us not just to acknowledge that He is, but to follow Him with our lives, entrusting every aspect of them to Him.

We place our hope for this life and eternity fully in Him!

Christianity was never meant to be casual. It is akin to a marriage relationship, lifelong and ever growing.

It’s easy to say that we have “accepted Him as our savior.” It’s yet another thing to walk it out and commit our life to Him in all things.

And the litmus test for our “faith in Christ” will come when we stand before God on the last day.

When that moment comes, will He say, “well done my good and faithful servant”? Or will He say, “depart from me, I never knew you”?

The time to find out is not in that moment when we are face to face with Him. That time is now, while we have breath in our lungs and a beat in our hearts.

Let us not simply believe that He is. But let us follow Him wholeheartedly, with every fiber of our being, that we hear His voice, and He knows us.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-25

Genesis 1:27 (NKJV) 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

God created us man and woman.

It’s His creation. We don’t get to change who He made us. We don’t get to choose whether we are male or female; He already did that.

No matter how we try to believe we are someone else, He gave us a body to remind us of who we are.

We may try and change our body parts, remove them or add to them. We can try to change the way we walk, talk and carry ourselves. But no matter how hard we try, it will not work. We are who God made us to be.

The devil would love to keep us on a road that will end in destruction. This road will bring confusion, depression, anger, and frustration.

But he’s a liar and always will be.

He will try to get us to think it’s all good. But in our heart, we struggle with knowing it’s all wrong. We will never reach a point of being at peace with ourselves if we stay on this path.

Today will never come again. It’s our moment to get right with God. It’s our chance to stop this painful journey we’ve been on.

Prayer of deliverance…

Dear God in Heaven,

I come to You today with a heart full of pain. I hurt from the decisions I’ve made. I am so lost and confused; I need help. I need Your salvation and deliverance to wash me clean and help me to start over. My mind needs renewing, my heart needs cleansing.

I repent of those things I’ve been doing, (be specific). I’m sorry for going against You, and I’m ready to surrender my heart and the temple You have created. I accept who You have made me to be.

I’m at my weakest, with my hands lifted, and I ask You Lord, to send those who can help guide me down the right path.

I ask for Your hand; I will hold it tightly. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ I pray. Amen

Psalm 46:1 (NKJV) 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-13-25

1 Corinthians 12:27 (LSB) 27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.

As members of the body of Christ, we are each unique, tasked by God with specific duties or works to carry out in our lives.

You may be a hand. Another may be a foot. Still another may be an arm or leg.

And each of us will likely be used as various body parts for specific seasons or purposes that God asks us to carry out.

Many of us have heard, or been told, that we are the “hands and feet of Christ.”

While this phrase is nowhere to be found in the word of God, it is a truth that each of us should live out daily; bringing Jesus to those who need Him in any given moment.

We use the gifts and talents that God has placed within each of us to impart little pieces of God into those we encounter along life’s path.

Today I had an opportunity to do this in a way that I had not expected. And this is frequently the way it happens; unannounced and spontaneous.

This is why it’s so critical that we each remain prepared and willing to obey when God swings the door open for us to represent Him.

We may never know the impact that we have in our daily interactions with others; people we have never met and may never see again.

How we handle ourselves and behave in split second decisions can have lifelong effects on other human lives; effects may mean more than we could ever comprehend.

Let us not worry about which part of the body we are; a hand, a foot, an eye, an ear, or any other part.

Each is equally important. And we do not get to choose which part we are on any given day or in any given moment.

We simply need to be sure to answer the call when God brings it around.

And in doing so, we glorify God by being there when someone needs us most.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-25

Matthew 5:3 (NKJV) 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Upon studying this verse, I needed to understand what He meant, first by “poor in spirit”. This would allow me to know who receives the kingdom of heaven!

Another word for poor in this statement would be, humble.

According to proverbs 16:19 it is better to be of a humble spirit. It’s when we are humble that God can look upon us.

In Isaiah 66:2 who does God say He looks upon?

He says, on all those things I made, and of all the things that exist, it is on this one I will look; him who is poor (humble) and of a contrite spirit, the one who trembles at His word.

His Spirit will live and rest upon a man, woman, or child  who walks in such humility.

To be poor in spirit means that we have acknowledged a great need for Him, the importance of repentance, and Him saving us from our sinful selves.

We acknowledge, through a humble heart, that we must let Him change us and lead us the rest of our lives in our day to day activities and decisions.

Being poor in spirit is humility that comes through a God-changed heart.

We are blessed, for our home is with Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-25

John 20:6-7 (LSB) 6 And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but folded up in a place by itself.

We used these verses recently in another devotional. But today we’d like to use them again to teach from a different perspective; one that will further strengthen our faith!

The verses above state that they “saw the linen wrappings lying there”.

There was no body.

The tomb was empty and the linen cloth that had been used to wrap the body of Jesus was lying there, no longer covering or wrapping His body.

Additionally, the scripture says that the face cloth which had been on His head was “folded up in a place by itself”

Now, many of you reading this may think that we are going to discuss a supposed tradition regarding the folding of the napkin indicating that Jesus did this to signify His return.

But this theory that has been used many times in modern preaching has no basis or historical proof. It is more folklore or legend than fact.

However, there is still much significance in the fact that the cloth was folded!

First, the intentional folding of the cloth is proof that there was no grave robbery. There was no chaotic, hurried removal of His body by thieves in the night.

Instead, there was purposeful action on the part of Jesus. He took the time to fold the cloth instead of simply tossing it aside!

Now, what His intention was with the folded napkin remains a mystery. It is something we may never understand fully.

But that’s OK! Some things are not meant for us to know.

This is why we call it “walking by faith”. We trust God without having to know the tiniest little details of everything.

What we do know, though, is that the folded cloth in the tomb quietly and powerfully testified that Jesus rose in victory, not by theft or accident, but with divine authority and purpose.

He did not leave the grave still wrapped in cloths, as Lazarus did. Instead, He exited the grave as a sign of His authority and sovereignty, even over death.

And in that, we can find great comfort and a strengthening of our faith.
