Bible Verse of The Day – 3-4-25

2 Thessalonians 1:3 (NKJV) 3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other…

When our faith grows in God, our hearts change.

Not only do we get stronger in our walk with Him, by trusting Him and obeying Him, but we learn to be more compassionate toward one another.

Our compassion and concern for the wellbeing of others will become stronger in us.

As we love God with all our heart, that compassion will help us to follow through with the second greatest commandment; loving others!

It can be very hard to love others if we don’t even know how to love God first.

He helps us to grow in this and gives us the wisdom to know how. Loving Him first opens the door for such love and compassion to flow through us.

Matthew 22:37:39 (NKJV) 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Love God first, and then we can love others the way He has called us to love.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-25

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

God’s word is true.

We must understand this principle as something that is foundational to our walk with God. If we get this right, many other pieces of the “puzzle” will fall into place more readily.

Knowing that His word is true, we must take what it teaches us at face value.

Yes, there is symbolism in the word of God. But we should always look at it literally first and weigh it that way until we can better understand the symbolism that may be present.

The word says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We know that this is true because God’s word says it is so.

Considering this, we must be sure we understand what joy is, versus what we may simply perceive as happiness.

Joy and happiness.

Joy is rooted in our faith in God. Although we may perceive joy to be a simple emotion, if we were to look at it more closely, we would see that joy comes with contentment.

In its simplest (Biblical) definition, joy is satisfaction with our situation despite what may be happening around us.

We can be experiencing the biggest trial of our life, yet we can be joyful knowing that everything about our lives is held in the hand of God.

Paul understood this and shared it with the Philippian believers, teaching that contentment is critical in this walk of faith.

Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Happiness, on the other hand, is rooted in emotions and earthly satisfaction.

We tend to look for happiness in earthly things; accomplishments, material possessions, societal status, etc.

It is only when we truly understand that Joy found in Christ is the real deal that we stop seeking happiness and walk in joy that circumstances can never steal from us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-1-25

Psalm 146:5 (NKJV) 5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God…

I often say, I don’t know how people get by without the Lord.

He surely has given me joy and happiness in this life that can sometimes be so hard and difficult. Even as believers, we will face unbearable things. But we find our Hope in Him.

He has been there so much for me. On those days that no one knows what I’m feeling or going through, only God knows. He knows how to comfort me; His touch is precious!

He knows just what to do based on what I need in that moment. Sometimes it’s as simple as a sweet word that brings encouragement, or maybe a phone call or a visit from someone.

Just the other day, our grandchildren, who are 16 and 17 years old, stopped in to check on us.

Recently, they’d had to put down their precious little dog that they’d had for 13 years. Even though they were going through their own things, they were stopping by to check on us.

We had such a wonderful time visiting with them, and it touched us deeply.

At times it might be someone I’ve never met that will say something I needed to hear. And they have no idea that what they just said helped me greatly.

Often, I will get a card in the mail that will bless my heart and give me a leap in my step and get me going again.

Watch for His help. Receive it and let it touch you and bring hope to you today.

He is my help; He will make us joyful! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-28-25

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Most people are familiar with the song, Amazing Grace.

The premise behind this song is spiritually deep, and Biblically sound; that God’s grace can save anyone, regardless of their transgressions.

And this is absolutely true. There is no one who is beyond God’s help.

I have come to view God’s grace as unfathomable; more than the human mind can comprehend.

Now, unfathomable might be a bit more difficult to sing in a song than amazing. But for the purpose of this devotional, it clearly puts His grace into perspective in a way that portrays its power more fully.

I recall seeing someone post on social media that God’s grace is no big deal. They were adamant that grace is not something we should get excited about. Their reasoning was that grace is only favor shown to someone.

But it seems that they failed to understand that God’s grace is something that is life-changing when we allow it to be applied to us personally.

God’s grace is unmerited (undeserved) favor that gives us kindness (preferential treatment) when what we deserve is something to the contrary.

Because of this grace, we must understand that our salvation is never earned. It is a gift.

We cannot do anything to earn it. We cannot possibly boast about it because we did nothing to deserve it.

And because we do not deserve it, we must understand that it is not something that we can keep by our works.

Yes, we should grow, mature, and leave our sinful ways behind. This is a given. God’s word teaches this plainly.

But this is not to prevent God from plucking His salvation from us due to inefficiencies on our end.

Our growth confirms our salvation just as fruit on a tree proves that tree’s growth.

And continuing in sin after receiving His grace and salvation is a slap to the face of God.

So, we must be sure that we do not abuse this grace and turn it into a license to sin, which is contrary to the truth of God’s word.

Romans 6:1-2 (LSB) 1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-25

Psalm 103:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…

These are two very good benefits! We all need them! Being saved and healed starts with forgiveness!

With all the things we do, or the things we think at times, we wonder how God could possibly forgive us. But He will forgive if we cry out to Him for forgiveness and are sincerely remorseful.

Get serious with God today. Talk to Him and share your heart.

Share those things with Him that nobody knows about you but keep you awake at night.

Ask Him what it is that you need to do to make things right. His forgiveness is for all of us no matter what we have done, thought, or said.

In addition to forgiveness, He also offers healing of our diseases.

We need His healing.

We can be diseased in our physical body. We can be diseased in our thoughts. And we can be diseased in our hearts.

No matter what disease we suffer from, we need our Physician to bring healing to every ounce of our being.

He is the greatest Physician of all! He came for those who are sick. He wants to heal our disease! And He will if we allow Him to.

Mark 2:17 (NKJV) 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Let us repent. Put our faith in Him and trust Him with our healing.

He will guide us and the steps we need to take in receiving forgiveness and healing. He will cleanse us of all diseases.

Bless His Holy name! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-26-25

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Everything about our walk with God is based on faith.

There is nothing about it that is based on intellect, intelligence, or human knowledge.

I might even go as far as stating that it is not even based on understanding. And that would be true apart from the fact that we must understand our need for redemption.

As we begin walking out our relationship with Yahweh, our Creator and Redeemer, we take each little step by faith.

Sometimes this can be a scary proposition as we navigate this thing we call faith.

It can be fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

Why?

Because we want so badly to pursue God with our whole heart, but our human understanding continually tries to interfere, reminding us repeatedly that some things about this walk with God make no sense to our minds.

And in the bigger scheme of things, this is truly where the rubber meets the road.

This is where we begin to divide what we understand with our minds from what seems unfathomable; intellect versus faith.

This is where spiritual immaturity slowly gives way to maturity, and we begin to spread our wings, so to speak, no longer simply sitting in the nest with our jaws open, waiting for someone to drop our food into our mouths.

You see, as we blossom, and we mature, we develop into Spirit-led beings instead of living and walking by carnal understanding.

And it is this that separates us from those who know nothing of God and His ways; those who consider the things of God to be foolishness.

And perhaps we were like them at some point.

But God desires for us to move beyond our past, laying aside the things of the world that once ensnared us, looking instead to Him for our understanding, our nourishment, and our sustenance.

And it is in Him that we find our purpose, knowing that as we grow, we live unto Him, and the ways of the world become a distant memory.

So, let us learn to live and walk by faith, that our lives would no longer be tossed about like a ship in the waves of the sea, but anchored by our faith in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-25-25

Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

It is usually easy to spot the weaknesses of others just by watching them, or hearing them speak at times.

Doing this, it doesn’t usually take long to see where others may be weak.

But what about our own weaknesses? Do we see them?

Is there a weakness in us that causes us to do the wrong thing every time?

Do we see it? Or have we just accepted it as part of who we are?

We try to justify it by saying, “that’s just the way I do things. ” And we keep right on walking in that weakness.

But God wants to give us power in those areas. And where we have no might, He wants to increase our strength, that we may be able to overcome that weakness with His help.

Today, if we are struggling with weakness in some areas of our life, we must acknowledge it for what it is; weakness.

We cannot just sit back and let it ruin us. We can’t let it take us down that path of feeling like we will never get free from it, or that we will never be strong in that area.

He gives power to the weak. He increases our strength. Can we do it on our own? No! We need His help.

Dear God in Heaven,

I’m feeling weak in many areas. I feel at times like I want to conquer it, but when I try I fall back again and again. Today I want Your help. I need your strength and might to help me overcome the areas where I’m weak. Please, give me strength to do the right things in the areas where I’m weak. Your word says that Your strength is made perfect in weakness. May Your power rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I pray in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-24-25

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

As I have gotten older, I have spent a fair amount of time pondering the things of God; the mysteries and the sometimes-obscure things.

I am not saying this to boast. I mention it only as a lead-in for this devotional, to give credence to what I am about to say.

There is much that I do not know.

But what I do know is that the God we serve is mighty. He is sovereign in all things. There is nothing too big for Him.

There is nothing He cannot conquer or overcome.

Now, you may think that this is referring to adversaries.

But that is not the case.

I am referring to the things in our lives that we wrestle with; we struggle for years to overcome.

Addictions, habits, shortcomings; sins that plague us.

But I firmly believe it does not have to be this way.

How can I say that?

Because God is mighty. He is bigger than anything we face or wrestle with. Period.

There are no ifs, ands, or buts about this. HE IS BIGGER.

And because He is bigger, He is the answer, the solution; the One who can break the chains that bind us.

So, why do we continually wrestle with the same sins repeatedly?

How do we finally find freedom from the things that seem bent on destroying us?

The answer lies in one word; submission.

He wants us to submit to Him; to fully surrender.

It is in our surrendering to Him and submitting ourselves fully to His will that we find our freedom and our peace.

Saying we surrender is not enough. Doing it is a necessity. And it is the only way.

It is only when we finally allow Him to have us completely that we find what we need to defeat the sin that has brought us to the edge of a cliff.

I know beyond any doubt whatsoever that God is able to do this. He proved it repeatedly throughout His word. There is no weakness in Him.

The weakness is ours. The struggle is ours; the battle between our flesh, which loves sin, and our spirit that cries out for deliverance.

The verse at the top of this devotional says it all; submit to Him. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

God has laid it out for us so that we may see the simplicity of His truth.

Let us not ignore what He has told us. But rather, let us run to Him and fully surrender, once and for all, that we might finally be set free.

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-22-25

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

There is victory in stillness!

We may be the type to think that if we are not doing anything, then nothing is getting done. But with God, that’s not the case.

There is a time to be still. That’s right, still.

In that stillness, we are showing Him a very strong, “I trust YOU!”

Some of us struggle with being still. We think we must help God. We think we must put our two cents worth in there. We think He needs us.

God is God! If He is speaking to you today and saying, “be still”, pull yourself back and let Him lead your every step.

Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV) 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

He will do the best job ever. I promise! Amen.
