Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-14

2 John 1:3 (NKJV) 3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

To all of you today, we pray this scripture over your lives.

We pray that God’s mercy and peace will be with you and will reign over you, in the name of Jesus.

The world is a tumultuous place, but with God peace can still be found, no matter what’s happening around us.

So, starting today, let God’s peace take precedence over the chaos and confusion that’s trying to overtake you.

And may you find rest in Him.

We pray for God’s mightiest blessings over your lives.

We love all of you very much.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-11-14

Hebrews 2:9 (NKJV) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

Jesus tasted death for everyone.

Everyone would include you, and me. It would include the sinner and the saved, the lost and the found.

It would include the pastor and the drug addict, the prostitute and the choir director.

It would include the church janitor and the pimp, the drug lord and the worship leader.

There isn’t a single person who has ever lived, or who will ever live, who isn’t included in this.

He tasted death so that He could defeat death. He tasted death so that we might have life, forever.

Sometimes we all need to be reminded of these things, for our own sake, and for the sake of others around us or those we might come into contact with each day.

So remember, today, as you go through your daily routine, that He tasted death for every last one of us. And every last one of us owes Him our life.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-10-14

(Psalm 71:8 NKJV)  Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.

Praising God all day takes focus… focusing on Him; watching, paying attention and listening to the things He is doing in our lives.

Some people praise God just in worship service at church. Some people praise God when they get around other Christians and some praise God after they just had a victory in a situation. But David says, let it be all the day.

We praise God in the storm. We praise God when we are out of the storm. We praise God walking down the street. We praise God in the grocery store and we praise God at work.

We praise Him all the Day… wherever we go and wherever we are!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-9-14

Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV) 7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

Have you ever been unjustly judged? Have you ever been judged by the way you look, something you said or maybe even something you did when you happened to make a poor choice about something?

Sometimes we can do something that causes us to “wear that label” on us for a long time. It can take years to shake that stigma off. And sometimes it never completely goes away.

And it never, ever feels good, does it? Sometimes it feels like it might kill us or destroy us emotionally. Sometimes it might even make us feel like we want to give up and throw in the towel, so to speak.

Well, how about when we do that to someone else? Have we ever judged someone based on what we see on the surface or maybe something we heard from someone else? Have we ever written someone off because we thought they weren’t worth anything?

So how do we think it makes them feel? No better than we feel when it happens to us, right?

OK. So what are we going to do about it? We need to stop judging. We need to start seeing people through the eyes of God, with love and compassion, just as we want people to see us.

We need to remind ourselves of how we feel when people judge us without knowing us or what we’ve walked through in our lives. And then we need to view others with that in mind.

Remember, Jesus died for that person that we’re judging, as much as He died for you and for me. God’s compassion, mercy and forgiveness extend to them just as much as they extend to you and me.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-8-14

(John 8:36 NKJV)  “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

I had a dream last night.

People were being held captive on a boat. The boat and all the people on it were found.

When the boat pulled up to port and they were all walking off it, oh they were so happy! But, I noticed that they were walking funny. They were taking little baby steps.

So I said to the man next to me, “why do they walk like that”? He replied to me, “Because they were in shackles for so long they don’t know how to walk any different.”

You see, the longer we stay in chains the harder it is to break free!

How many of us today has God set free, but yet we still walk as if we have our shackles on? Are we worrying or fearful about what people may think or say about us?

How many of us today can say “God, you have set me free, let’s walk together with a big stride and cover the ground you have for me?”.

We have been set free! There are no more shackles on us. We don’t have to remain as we were. Change needs to come and we need to stop walking like we are still in captivity. Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-7-14

(Luke 18:22 NKJV)  So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

What if Jesus was talking to us today, asking us to sell all that we have, all our material things and give it to the poor? Would we be willing?

Material things are nice, but if we give them too much importance, it can become a problem in our lives known as materialism.

Some people may think that obtaining certain material things makes a statement that they are successful. It may give them a certain level of self esteem, but in reality it does not hold any weight.

People work so hard each day to get to this place in life, only to find out afterwards it was not worth it, and on the way they lost and missed out on the important things in life that meant so much more.

We are fooling ourselves if this is what we believe to be success. Jesus says it is not success, but lack. He said sell it and give it to the poor. Our treasure will be in heaven, and to come and follow Him. That is success right there!

Materialism will steal our joy, and suck the life right out of us.

There is so much beauty in this earth to enjoy that is free. Let God teach us the important things in life as we say no to materialism and yes to His way of living.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-5-14

John 4:23-24 (NKJV) 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

God wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

This is so important, yet so overlooked these days in the modern church. Worship today seems to have been reduced to a man-made conjuring up of what people hope is God’s presence.

But let me state that if God’s presence was truly as heavy in these modern worship services as it is portrayed to be, most people in that service would fall down under the weight of His glory, not just wave their arms or raise their hands.

God’s presence isn’t something that we should take lightly or try to force to happen. God’s spirit will come when we are ready for Him and when our hearts are prepared for Him.

Don’t take this wrong. I am not throwing stones at how churches worship. Most people in most churches have their hearts in the right place and they want to please God and worship Him in spirit and in truth.

But the church has gotten stuck in a rut and doesn’t know how to find its way out.

So today, we encourage you to stop what you’re doing in your worship time with God. Ask God if you’re really worshiping Him in a way that pleases Him. Check yourself in this area. And if you’re not sure about what you do, ask Him to show you what to do. And He will.

Worship Him in spirit and truth and enjoy His presence.

Bible Verse of The Day

(John 14:15 NKJV)  “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

Jesus is very simple and to the point, isn’t He? That’s what I love about Him. He doesn’t complicate these things.

Why would He? So we can’t understand what He is trying to tell us? No…He tells it like it is.

There is nothing complicated about this verse. Jesus is saying to follow Him in all that He tells us to do. We shouldn’t just say it, or preach it. Anyone can do that.

We need to take the things He teaches us in His word, the Holy Bible, and walk it out… be a follower of Christ. This will show Him that we really do love Him and we are not just saying it because that’s how they do it in church.

Let’s be careful that we don’t get stuck in a rut, just mimicking what other Christians say or what we’ve been taught to say. Let’s make sure what we say and do is REAL, straight from our own hearts.

(3 John 1:4 NKJV)  I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Walking in truth is knowing who it is that we love, and we can tell this by watching our actions. Our actions and thoughts will show us the truth about who and what we really love.

Keep His commandments today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-3-14

Psalm 50:15 (NKJV) Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

God wants to be at the center of everything in our lives. In fact, He wants us to make Him the center of everything in our lives.

God knows that we will all encounter trouble at various times in our lives. During those times He wants us to call upon Him. He wants to deliver us! Why? So we will glorify Him!

You see, if we make God the center of our lives, we will be less likely to land in quite so much trouble as we do, but we are human. We make mistakes. We make poor choices sometimes. And other times, stuff just happens that we had no choice about.

But God says to call upon Him in our day of trouble and He will deliver us! That’s a promise.

We may not know how or when He will deliver us. And many times, the deliverance comes in ways that we would never have imagined, but He does deliver us!

So we need to stop sweating the “how and when”, and let Him do what needs to be done in us and in our situations, and watch in awe as He works it all out for our good.

Bible verse of The Day – 4-2-14

John 1:1 (NKJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

This might be a confusing verse to some, especially for those who are new to the family of God.

You might look at this and say “what’s all this stuff about the Word?”.

Let me take a minute to explain.

“The Word” is one of the names given to Jesus Christ in scripture. Jesus had many different “names” throughout the Bible, running from the Old testament (in prophecies), all the way through the end of the New Testament.

We hear Him called the Son of man, the Son of God, the Lamb of God, the Lamb who was slain, the Bright and Morning Star, and a host of others.

Jesus was also referred to as The Word, or the Word of God.

Revelation 19:13 (NKJV) He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

What’s so awesome about the verse above, in John 1:1, is that this verse shows us that Jesus was there in the beginning, right along with God the Father, at the creation of all that we see!

Jesus was a participant in the creation, not just an observer!

So if anyone ever tries to tell you that Jesus was simply created by God or that He was less than “God with us”, just remember that He was there in the beginning and all things were made through Him!

John 1:3 (NKJV) All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Rest today, knowing that our Savior was there in the beginning.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-1-14

(Matthew 11:28 NKJV)  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Rest is a good thing!

We all need to walk in this rest. We’re not just talking about laying down and taking a nap, although that is good too! But, resting from our thoughts, our planning, our trying to resolve it all by putting the pieces together.

Rest comes when we stay calm and say, “OK, God, I see this mountain in front of me and I’m just going to take one step at a time and let You guide me”.

Rest comes when we trust God. When we stay calm in a time when we would normally flip out.

Thinking hard or stressing over something will wear us out and drain us emotionally. What good are we then?

Just the other day we got so much rain that it caused a shifting underground and we had mud come into our sump pump, in our basement. It clogged the pump, leaving us with a flood in our basement and mud everywhere.

Now the first thing that wanted to take place in our minds was to flip out, and then be fearful about what to do. And the next thing, anxiety likes to add its little spin.

But, that is not resting or trusting in God. That is letting our emotions take over.

Surprisingly, we both stayed very calm and focused on what we needed to do to resolve the problem. By the end of the day, we were physically exhausted, but emotionally we were strong and very focused.

We managed to get all the water out and the pump working again. We slept really well that night.

We rested in God as we moved forward and resolved the problem.

Rest in Him today. He will help us resolve whatever we are going through!!
