Bible Verse of The Day – 11-26-24

1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

If we want good government, we must pray for all leaders in authority. Not just for the ones that we like or prefer, but all leaders.

They stand in a position, making decisions that can make us or break us at times. They can bring hardship and captivity or freedom and happiness!

How many times do we complain about what’s going on in the leadership of our country, our town, our schools, our workplace, our church, yet we have no time for prayer?

This is something we all need to take to heart. Prayer, intercession, and giving thanks; this is what will help us to live a peaceable life.

We all want to see change come. But it will only happen if we are steadfast in our prayers. God will move mountains if we pray with faith the size of a mustard seed!

Matthew 17:20 (NKJV) 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

We need to be consistent in praying for those who have authority and responsibility over the church as well as throughout society.

We need to make it our focus to pray for our pastor, our teachers, our governors, our town council members, our president, vice president, etc. The same can be said for any others that stand in a position to bring change.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-25-24

Ephesians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…

As a husband, I want to know that I am pleasing God with the way I behave toward my wife, and the way I treat her.

It is important that, as men, we learn to be Christlike in our attitudes and our behavior toward our wives.

God created us as men. We are to be masculine. We are to be their protector. We are to be strong as we lead the home.

But we are not to be overbearing, controlling, or manipulative to make everything happen the way we want it to happen.

Jesus gave Himself for us, His bride. He literally laid down His life, surrendering to the will of the Father, that you and I might have life in Him.

This is our example when it comes to how we treat our wives.

We lead with strength. But that strength can often be demonstrated in meekness; being willing to give preference where preference is due. And being willing to admit when we are wrong when we know that we are.

Admitting we are wrong does not make us weak. Every person, whether man or woman, is wrong from time to time. Admitting our faults shows strength. Denying it shows weakness.

And, men, let us not fall into the trap of being domineering over our wives.

This, also, is a sure sign of weakness on our part as we mask our insecurities behind booming voices and military-like commands. And it will only cause resentment over time.

Let us love them genuinely, treating them with the respect they deserve.

Let us lead as Christ leads His body, with decisiveness, but meekness.

Let us lead in a way that assures them we would lay down our lives for them, even though that situation may never arise.

Husbands, love your wives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-24

Acts 8:14 (NKJV) 14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them…

As we can see in this verse, the Samaritans received the word of God; they had put their faith in Christ.

Praise be to God!

When the apostles heard that they had already received the word of God, what did they do? They sent Peter and John to them.

Peter and John prayed that the Samaritan believers would also receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:15 (NKJV) 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

This is very important. It should help us understand how much we need the Holy Spirit.

The Samaritans were already believers, and both men and women had been water baptized. But the apostles felt the need to send Peter and John to help them receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:12 (NKJV) 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

They took 3 separate steps; they believed the word of God, they were water baptized, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Our question to you today is, did you receive the Holy Spirit?

Are you walking in His power and might?

Or are you trying to follow Christ solely with you own intellect and understanding, trying to fight battles, and temptation on your own?

It was very important that Peter and John got to them to help them receive the Holy Spirit.

Let us not neglect this step. Jesus said it is to our advantage that He left, so our Helper could come.

John 16:7 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

It is a step that we all must take if we want the help we need to get through this journey. Jesus sent Him for us! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-22-24

Colossians 1:9 (NKJV) 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

As Paul was writing to the Colossian believers, he commended them for their faith, and the fruit that it was producing in their midst.

Paul ran down a list of things that he had heard about them as they grew in their walk with God. They were maturing in Christ!

This is where verse 9, above, comes in, as Paul stated that this was the reason he prayed fervently for them; that they may be filled with knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

So, if Paul thought it important to pray for these things regarding the Colossians, how much more we should realize that these are the things we also should be concerned with in our own walks with God.

Being filled with the knowledge of the will of God will strengthen our faith, push back fear and doubt, and give us the peace He desires for us to have as we walk through various trials and difficulties in our lives.

And as we gain spiritual understanding, we question God’s ways less frequently.

We are no longer blown about by the wind, tossed like ships on a stormy sea. But our faith acts as an anchor that holds us fast even in the tempests that threaten to capsize us and steal us away from our faith.

May we continually learn and grow in the knowledge of Him in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-21-24

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We all need God’s wisdom.

We need His wisdom in making decisions.

We need His wisdom in raising our children.

We need His wisdom in our marriage.

We need His wisdom in our daily routines.

We need His wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent.

His wisdom should be what guides us in all we do.

How do we get His wisdom?

We simply ask Him.

That’s right. If you are struggling for an answer today, if you are wondering what you need to do right now, you ask Him. He will give you the answer you need.

You may know right away, or you may have to walk it out. But as you take the steps one at a time, His wisdom will be there.

Ask Him for wisdom. You don’t have to do this alone.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-20-24

John 8:43-44 (LSB) 43 Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

As Jesus addressed the religious leaders, He spoke truth that infuriated them.

The men in front of Him held themselves up as leaders; men who should be honored and looked up to by everyone.

But their self-righteous opinions of themselves, and their visions of grandeur were shattered by the words of Jesus.

He told them bluntly who they really were; children of the devil, the father of lies, and a murderer.

Jesus saw past their religious garb and their pious words. He knew their hearts, and He knew their intentions.

It was because of their nature that they could not hear what Jesus was saying.

You see, the family we were born into does not matter. Our heritage does not make us righteous. It does not buy redemption or favor with God.

So, these men who thought themselves to be heirs to the kingdom because of their self-proclaimed lineage to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were sadly mistaken.

God desires that we be meek, humble, and willing to receive instruction.

There is a great lesson for us to learn from this, making sure that we do not base our relationship with our Father and Redeemer on our heritage.

Nor should we base it on something from our formative years that we were too young to actively participate in, such as being baptized or “Christened” as a baby or toddler.

Our faith is built on actions and decisions that we make ourselves, choices that we make to follow the One who gave His life for us.

Anything less is simply religion based on rituals, traditions, or choices made for us by others when we were too young to know the difference.

Let us make a conscious, deliberate choice to place our faith in Christ, embracing His death and the cleansing blood that He shed for us.

And let us build and grow that faith in a way that we will know who we are in Christ without relying on something that was done for us in the distant past that we didn’t actively participate in.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-19-24

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

We want to start this devotional today by having you take a few minutes to ponder on the words, “I’ll be OKAY.”

Are we doubting decisions we have made, leading us to be confused as to why things are the way they are?

Are we looking back saying, “if only I had taken another path”?

Are we comparing ourselves to others, wondering why we haven’t been as successful as them?

Are we doubting how we raised our children?

Are we down on ourselves because most of our lives we made up our own mind without seeking God’s counsel?

What we need to know today is that if we are a Christian, and we have made wrong decisions, it is never too late to get on the right path.

That’s right. We may not be able to go back and undo what we have done, but God, in His Mercy, will forgive us and help us to move forward and turn things around in the future.

If today is a new beginning for us, let our past be our past, and now let us be ready to move forward with God’s guidance.

You will be Okay!

Through prayer, reading His word, and drawing close to Him, He will meet us right where we are. He will draw near to us as we draw near to Him.

He will guide us and lead us for the rest of our days.

Don’t worry about the past. Let’s move forward by putting our focus on Him. Amen.

Psalm 32:8 (NKJV) 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-18-24

1 Corinthians 15:30-31 (LSB) 30 Why are we also in danger every hour? 31 I affirm, brothers, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

I die daily.

As Paul was teaching the Corinthians, he wanted them to understand the reality of, and grasp the importance of, the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead; the raising of the saints from the grave at the return of Jesus Christ.

Second only to our redemption from sin, this is one of the biggest parts of our hope in Christ.

Paul emphasized this when he stated in 1 Corinthians 15:32, “If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”.

Without the resurrection, life has no purpose and no hope.

But let us also look at what Paul said in Corinthians 15:31, above.

He used the phrase, “I die daily” to describe his life in Christ.

What did he mean by this?

It has two meanings.

First, Paul’s life was constantly in danger because of his faith, as he stated in verse 30, above.

Because of this, he inferred that he put his life at risk (literally) every hour and could lose his life because of this.

But look at what Jesus said.

Luke 9:23 (NKJV) 23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Taking up our cross daily is symbolic of dying. Jesus also said we must deny ourselves. These two actions combined are the epitome of dying to self.

As Paul did, so must we also learn to die daily, laying ourselves aside and imitating Christ in His selflessness, giving preference to others.

In doing so, we allow God’s love and His light to shine in a world full of darkness.

Ephesians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-16-24

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NKJV) 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.

After being beaten and mocked, He finished it with being nailed to a cross.

After dying on the cross, they placed Him in a tomb. And on the 3rd day He rose!

With guards watching the tomb, the stone was rolled away, and Jesus left.

Later, Jesus met with the disciples and explained to them what had happened.

Can you imagine the look on their faces, knowing that Jesus had died on that cross, as He stood there right before their very own eyes? He was alive and speaking to them!

Luke 24:37-39 (NKJV) 37 They were frightened and terrified because they thought they were seeing a ghost. 38 But Jesus said, “Why are you so frightened? Why do you doubt? 39 Look at my hands and my feet and see who I am! Touch me and find out for yourselves. Ghosts don’t have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

God loves us dearly, and He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our sin and destruction.

We needed Jesus Christ’s precious blood to save each one of us. It was the only thing that was pure and holy; without spot or blemish.

When you feel that no one loves you, and you’re all alone, remember that the blood of Christ was shed for you. He knew you as He hung on that cross, even centuries before you were born.

He wants you to know today that He did it for you. To give you salvation and freedom from your sins; your heavy burdens and all the things that are trying to wear you down or take you out.

Cry out to Him today. Repent of your sins, and put your trust in Him, Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
