Bible Verse of The Day – 1-20-26

Acts 1:4-5 (NKJV) 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

“John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

It is very important to note that Jesus commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father.

It was critical for them to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Why?

Because their mission required what the Holy Spirit had for them; Power!

Power to be witnesses for Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

This mission could only be fulfilled by supernatural power from on High.

The day of Pentecost came when they were all in one accord, in one place; an upper room.

He came and filled each one of them. And they began to speak with other tongues.

Acts 2:4 (NKJV) 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Some may ask, was this just for the disciples in those days? Can anyone be baptized in the Holy Spirit, or was it limited for just that one time?

Tomorrow we will dive deeper into this topic and see what the word of God shows us.
