Luke 23:42 (NKJV) 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
Remember me.
These two words, spoken at just the right time, in the right hour, with the right heart. Let us consider them.
You may be laying on your death bed today, knowing your life is almost over.
You know in your heart you did not live right, but you also did not make any effort to change it. You loved your life and the things you did. And even now if you could get out of that bed, you would still have the desire to live that same way.
That’s the heart of the flesh, and it’s normal to love the desires of the flesh when you live by it.
The man in this verse asking the Lord to remember him was also a man after the things of the flesh. He was a criminal. And for his crimes he was being crucified.
But what is fascinating is that this man recognized who Jesus was; the Christ. He had a revelation right there on his cross, and he spoke out to defend Him while dying on that cross.
Luke 23:41 (NKJV) 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
As he acknowledges Him, he cried out to Jesus, remember me.
What did Jesus do? Did He say, it’s too late for you? You waited too long? Your life was a mess?
Luke 23:43 (NKJV) 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
It’s not too late for you today to repent and cry out to Jesus for forgiveness. It may be the last thing you do, but it will be the most important thing you will do.
Romans 10:9 (NKJV) 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
He will remember you too, and you will be in paradise with Him!
Amen.
