Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-20

Genesis 41:1 (NKJV) 1 Then it came to pass, at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh had a dream; and behold, he stood by the river.

We have likely all been told, or have read about, the story of Joseph, and the time that he spent in prison.

As we read through this story, though, we might not grasp the length of time he was actually in there before finally being freed and being appointed to a leadership position by Pharaoh.

In the verse above, 2 years is the period mentioned in reference to the time between when he interpreted dreams for two fellow prisoners, and the time he was finally released.

When Joseph had interpreted those dreams, he had asked the two men he had interpreted them for to mention him to Pharaoh, with the hope of being released from prison due to being there on false charges. Sadly, that never happened.

It was only when Pharaoh had dreams that troubled him that his cup bearer remembered Joseph in prison and mentioned him to Pharaoh. And so, Pharaoh called for Joseph to interpret his dreams.

When Joseph successfully interpreted those dreams by God’s spirit, Pharaoh had Joseph released from prison and gave him a high position in the palace, helping him to run the country. Only Pharaoh was above Joseph in the entire land of Egypt.

All told, Joseph spent somewhere in the vicinity of 12-13 years in prison, waiting for justice, waiting for his answer from God. Then came his victory.

Are we waiting for victory in a specific situation?

Do we have a loved one who has strayed? Do we have a health situation that we’re trusting God for? Are we praying for the salvation of someone we know?

How long is it taking? How many years or months have we been waiting for God’s answer to come?

Maybe it’s been a few months. Maybe it’s been a few years. Maybe it’s been even longer than that.

We’re here to tell you today not to give up!

We never know when we will receive our answer. The important thing to remember is that the answer will come.

We don’t know when. We don’t know how. And we don’t even know what the answer will be. But we have to trust that God will answer, in His timing.

Stand. Remain steadfast. Keep trusting.

He is faithful, even if He takes longer than we’d like Him to.
