Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-17

Numbers 22:27 (NKJV) 27 And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam’s anger was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff.

Sometimes God will use some pretty unconventional ways of getting our attention and speaking to us.

And at times He will use people, that we may not necessarily like or prefer, to get a message across to us or to teach us something.

It’s not uncommon for us to discount certain people or ignore God’s messages to us when they come via these less-than-preferred messengers. But that’s a costly mistake that can hurt us badly if we don’t make corrections and listen to what they have to say.

Balaam was on His way to a place that God had told Him not to go unless He specifically ordered him to do so. God’s anger was aroused toward Balaam and He placed a large angel in his path to block him from proceeding.

When the donkey he was riding saw the angel and refused to go further, Balaam stuck the donkey three different times, until God actually opened the mouth of the donkey to rebuke him.

We can be pretty sure that a donkey was the last thing that Balaam expected to hear talking to him and rebuking him.

But if God chooses to speak through a donkey, He will do so. And it’s not up to us to decide whether we will listen or not, just because we don’t like the messenger.

Yes, it’s important that we very carefully weigh the words that are spoken to us. But if someone comes to us with true words of God, it will benefit us greatly if we put aside our preferences as to the delivery method and pay attention to what is being said to us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-6-17

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

The Lord speaks to His children, each and every one of us, from time to time. Many people ask what His voice sounds like. We get asked quite frequently, “how do I hear God’s voice?”.

Learning to hear His voice takes time. It also requires a willingness on our part to stop what we are doing and hear what He is saying. It takes us listening to what we hear and then doing what He may be asking us to do. It’s a faith walk.

Sometimes we may find ourselves making a mistake, thinking we were doing the right thing. Later we realize it was not Him, but merely our own desire or idea.

It’s OK if we have missed it at times. We just need to repent and get back on the right track. God does not expect us to be perfect at this.

To learn His voice takes drawing close to Him and, over time, we will get better at it.

We are always learning as we go and it doesn’t just happen overnight. It takes listening and discerning, which the Holy Spirit will help us with as we go.

Don’t be afraid to ask God to speak to you and to help you with your decisions. He is always willing and ready.

Just listen. He may bring the answer to us in a way we would never have expected. So we need to be open minded and use His word as our guide and our measuring stick. His voice will always line up with His word, the Holy Bible.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-4-17

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Knowledge and understanding come when we step out and do what God is saying to do.

Some may say “how do we know what God is telling us to do?”.

Knowing what God is telling us to do is important and it takes seeking Him through prayer, through His word and listening.

Sometimes we know just by something He may drop into our spirit. Or maybe through a dream. Sometimes the answer is right in His word.

Other times He may use someone to share something they went through that was similar, and we find our answer through their story.

Are you in need of answers today? If you wait and listen, your answer will come as you lean on God for His understanding.

God is faithful. He cares about you and how your situation turns out. He wants the best for us. Remember, He loves us more than we could ever imagine.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-17

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

How do we hear God? How do we know what He’s saying to us? How do we distinguish His voice when He speaks to us?

As we’ve mentioned before, this is one of the most frequently asked questions we get.

Sometimes hearing God is as simple as getting alone with Him, shutting out the rest of the world, and listening. Listening for that still small voice.

Our world is so busy. We have so very many things vying for our time and attention. And with all of that noise and all of those distractions, it can make it very hard to hear anything else, including God’s voice.

So sometimes we need to take steps to shut down the noise and cut off the distractions and separate ourselves from the pull of the world… and sit quietly with God.

Shut off the smartphone. Turn off the tablet. Power down the computer. Turn off the TV. And maybe even turn off the worship music. Yes, even the worship music can be a distraction at times.

And then we just need to get on our face before God.

Then, and only then will we hear Him speak. Only when we have created an environment that’s conducive to listening will we be able to hear Him. And as we spend time alone in the quiet, we need to be sure we’re not spending the entire time talking.

God wants to hear from us. But if we spend the entire time talking, we will never hear Him when He does speak.

Disconnect. Separate. Listen. Hear.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-17

Matthew 14:29 (NKJV) 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

This is amazing! Peter stepped out of the boat, and walked on the water. That’s how miracles happen, when Jesus asks us to do something and we do it.

Walking on water is definitely not something Peter would have tried on his own. He heard what Jesus was saying to him, “COME.” And Peter stepped out in obedience and faith. And there he was, right in the middle of a miracle.

How do we hear what God is saying to us today? We pray, we read, we listen and then we take the steps that we hear, in faith.

Some steps will be hard to take, there is no doubt. But if they are ordered by God, don’t fear. Just walk.

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-4-17

Proverbs 8:32 (NKJV) 32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.

How do we hear God’s voice? This is a question that we get asked a lot.

God is God and He speaks to us in many different ways. We don’t know exactly how He will speak to you. But, we can say that He will communicate with you in a way that works for you. He is faithful!

Developing a relationship with Him is the main thing that helps us understand God when He speaks to us or prompts us. If we don’t know Him, it will be hard for us to discern if it is truly Him speaking or not.

The first things to do is learn about Him. The only way to do this is through reading His word. We learn His personality, His likes and dislikes, etc. Everything about Him is in there.

As we read the scriptures, communication with Him begins. We become one with Him as we open up and let His Words penetrate and change our heart.

It takes time, and even some trial and error on our end. But don’t give up. Keep going to Him and keep trying. We can even learn from our mistakes if we miss what God was saying to us.

Praying plays a big part in hearing God’s voice as well. We don’t have to spend hours doing this. Start by going to Him for small things that maybe we’re not sure about. Ask Him for His advice and what He wants us to do even in the small things. He loves to be included.

I’m amazed that even those small things that seem insignificant to us, He will take the time and help us through them.

And when we pray, we need to be sure we’re doing as much listening as we are talking. Many times we make the mistake of thinking that praying is only about us telling God what we want. We can fail to take the time to listen after we’re finished making our requests. And this is a big mistake.

It’s never too late to start learning God’s voice.

If you are involved in something today and you’re feeling like something’s not quite right, stop what you’re doing. Pull back and go to God. Ask Him to help you.

He will meet you there.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-2-16

Psalm 95:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:

How do we hear His voice?

We hear His voice when He becomes our God. We hear His voice when we decide to open up and listen. We hear His voice when we let Him have control over our situations, over our lives. We hear His voice when we pull back and let Him move.

It’s not hard to hear the voice of God. What is hard, and the thing we struggle the most with, is letting Him be God in our life.

If we can do this He will speak and show us all that He has for us and all that He wants to do with us and through us!

He will help us through the toughest of tough times. He will free us from the things in life that would want to take us out. He will love on us with His mercy and grace.

Oh come, let us Worship Him today. Bow down. Kneel before Him. He is our Lord and our Maker. Hear His voice. He is speaking.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-4-15

Psalm 91:1 (NKJV) 91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

There is a “secret place”. It’s a place where we can hear God speak to us.

This isn’t necessarily a physical place. It could be. But it can also be a quiet time where we have no distractions.

Even if we’re not in a secret or secluded room, when we get peace, quiet and stillness, it allows us to hear God with no interruptions and no distractions.

Everyone wants to hear from God. It’s essential to building a strong relationship with Him. But so many times we’re so busy talking that we never leave quiet time to hear what He has to say.

Elijah wanted to hear from God. And he did hear. How did it happen? Not in thunder, not in a strong wind, not in fire or even in tremors of the earth. He heard God in a still small voice.

God wants us to be still and listen for Him. He wants us to hear Him. He wants us to be listening for Him at all times.

His voice brings peace, clarity, understanding, wisdom and revelation to our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-15

Hebrews 3:15 (NKJV) 15 while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

There can be times when we know exactly what God wants us to do, but because it’s not what we want or we don’t like the timing He has for us, we can tend to ignore Him.

Ignoring what God is speaking to our hearts is just the same as rebellion. We are simply saying “we hear you God, but we really don’t want to go there or down that route. We don’t like Your plan.”

We have all been here at one time or another.

To get to the point of listening to God and hearing His voice takes being aware that He is with us at all times. He doesn’t have to leave our side to go help someone else, or leave someone else to come and help us.

So, if we are lost, He will help us find our place. He is Omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere at the same time. He is aware of EVERYTHING.

He has good plans for us.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

It’s never too late to begin to listen to God. He has hope and a future for us. Hear His voice today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-15

1 Kings 19:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

A still small voice. It’s how God chooses to speak.

He could easily speak through more fantastic and dramatic means, such as wind, earthquakes, fire, thunder & lightning and other loud ways.

But He chooses a still small voice. Why?

One of the reasons is because God doesn’t always want us to make choices based on what’s obvious. The obvious takes no faith to trust in. It’s just obvious, and lacking in the sense that it requires no spiritual maturity and no faith to see it, hear it or find it.

God doesn’t necessarily try to make things hard for us to see, hear or find, but He does do things in a way that require us to use discernment and spiritual understanding in order to make right decisions.

The things of God don’t always make sense to our minds. But they do make sense to our spirits, if our spirits are in tune with His.

So our goal should always be to get God’s wisdom and understanding, which will make it easier for us to discern spirits and hear God when He speaks.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-3-15

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Are you struggling to find answers to your dilemma right now?

Do you feel like your back’s against the wall, with no way to escape?

Are you wondering where God is during the storm that’s in your life right now?

And are you wondering where God is in the midst of all of this? Why does it seem like He’s silent and not speaking to you?

Call out to Him. Press in to Him. Become passionate about Him!

As we reach out to Him and make an effort to draw closer to Him, He will do the same.

James 4:8 (NKJV) 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…

It’s never as complicated as we make it. We tend to read more into this than what’s really there, and as a result, we end up further from God, instead of closer to Him.

God is mysterious. There is no doubt about that at all. But getting close to God isn’t mysterious at all. It just requires persistent effort on our part. And it requires patience, simply because growing a relationship takes time to happen.

So if you’re feeling like you’re alone and God isn’t close to you, press into Him. Spend time with Him. Call to Him. Listen for His voice. Draw Near to Him.

And if we’ll be faithful in doing these things, He will draw near to us and show us great and mighty things which we do not know.

And those things will be like the key that unlocks the chains that are binding us.
