Bible Verse of The Day – 6-8-18

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

In this life, no matter what age we are at, we will need to learn how to get along with others.

We will either be the one that gives in very easily, even though we know we are right, just to save an argument. Or we will be the one that is not going to budge. You know, that “I mean what I say and I’m sticking to it!!” kind of person.

There are going to be times when God will ask us to be the one to give in, even though we may be right in what we are saying or doing. This allows Him to help the one that is in the wrong to see themselves.

In order for them to do this, we may need to let them make a wrong choice and follow through with their actions.

Someone very wise once told me, “sometimes we need to let them go through the fire”. Ouch!

If we intervene, how will they ever see the results of their actions or errors?

There will be times when we need to stand firm and not give in, for sure. But just a little reminder, that’s not always the case.

Be alert to what God may be saying in that moment of disagreement. The way we carry ourselves may help the other person to see where they need to make a change.

Only God knows what it will take. Be quick to listen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-18

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV) 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Having a drive for something is OK, as long as it is what God wants for us. If it’s not what God wants for us it can be very dangerous. It can make a mess of things quickly and we will lose our peace.

For example, maybe we want a specific position, or maybe a material item.

Watch out for the phrase, “oh, wouldn’t that be nice”. That can be the beginning of an unnecessary drive, a waste of valuable time, for something that’s not meant for us.

We may catch ourselves starting to go down that road and digging deeper, trying to find out more about it. The next thing we know we are spending all our time and effort trying to make it happen, trying to possess it and make it ours.

Whenever we want or think we need something so badly, it will begin to drive us. It’s crucial that our drive be aimed toward the things that God wants for us. Nothing else.

One way to check ourselves at any point in time is to pull back and say, “hold on, wait a minute, I need to make sure this is right for me”.

If we can’t do that, and we just keep plowing our way through, trying everything we can to make it happen, then we are most likely being driven by our motives, our wants and our desires. God is not a part of it. It’s all us.

To keep this from happening, we have to keep an eye on our hearts during the process. How? By keeping ourselves accountable.

Make sure we are taking time with God, and we don’t just push Him off and ignore His promptings, His warnings, and His red flags. Be aware and alert throughout the whole process, making sure His peace is present and prevalent.

He has no problem helping us to know if we are getting ready to make a BIG mistake. We just have to pay attention to the signs, use wisdom and take action to stay on the right track.

If we are being driven today by something that is not going to be right for us, we need to stop, no matter how far in we are. Then we need to pull back and take some time to get God’s direction. He is faithful to help us see clearly and bring understanding, as long as we’re willing to listen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-8-15

Hebrews 3:15 (NKJV) 15 while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

There can be times when we know exactly what God wants us to do, but because it’s not what we want or we don’t like the timing He has for us, we can tend to ignore Him.

Ignoring what God is speaking to our hearts is just the same as rebellion. We are simply saying “we hear you God, but we really don’t want to go there or down that route. We don’t like Your plan.”

We have all been here at one time or another.

To get to the point of listening to God and hearing His voice takes being aware that He is with us at all times. He doesn’t have to leave our side to go help someone else, or leave someone else to come and help us.

So, if we are lost, He will help us find our place. He is Omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere at the same time. He is aware of EVERYTHING.

He has good plans for us.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

It’s never too late to begin to listen to God. He has hope and a future for us. Hear His voice today.
