Category: Walking in The Spirit

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-6-25

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

We must choose to walk in the Spirit. Not in the flesh.

Equate this to getting married. We make a commitment to live for God, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

This takes place when we surrender our flesh to Him. Over time, the Holy Spirit will help change our hearts, guide our steps, and chasten us when needed.

He will lead us in this walk when we become His children!

Romans 8:14 (NKJV) 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

We learn how to walk according to His word, and live the life that He has for us.

As we walk in the Spirit we will develop sharp discernment. We will hunger and thirst for righteousness, and Jesus says, we shall be filled!

Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Be filled today as we walk in the Spirit.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-31-25

1 Kings 17:12 (LSB) 12 But she said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.”

During a time of severe drought and famine, God directed Elijah to go to Zarephath, to the house of a widow. God told Elijah that the woman would sustain him.

Elijah did as God instructed. Upon arriving and finding the woman, Elijah asked her for a drink of water. As she turned and walked to get a water jar, Elijah called out and also asked her for a piece of bread.

At this, she said (in the verse above), that she was about to use the last of her flour and oil, that she and her son may eat their last meal and die.

When Elijah heard this, he proclaimed to her that she should go first and make a small piece of bread for him. And if she did so, she would also be able to return to her flour bowl and oil jar and there would be enough to make a meal for her and her son.

And he spoke a word to her from God assuring her that if she obeyed, God would sustain them for the duration of the drought, until rain came again.

1 Kings 17:14 (LSB) 14 For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the face of the earth.’”

At this, she obeyed Elijah.

This widow exhibited a kind of faith that is uncommon.

She was willing to surrender her very last meal to a prophet of God, trusting his promise that God would provide for them throughout the famine if she obeyed in faith.

We can all learn much from this about the ways that God moves; frequently contrary to anything we might have imagined.

It is very unlikely that this woman expected someone to come and ask for her last bits of flour and oil as a means of rescuing her and her son from the famine.

But that’s where we can learn so much from this event.

You see, as humans, our expectations of God are limited by what we can understand.

Even when we pray, we ask God to move on our behalf only in ways that we can comprehend intellectually.

It’s highly unlikely that any of us would ever consider asking God to send someone to eat our last morsels of food so He could miraculously provide for us.

And who would ever ask God to send someone to ask them for their last five dollars so they could see Him move on their behalf and supply their financial needs?

It’s just not the way we think in our natural minds.

We limit God by asking only in ways that are a result of our human thinking.

This is why it is so critical for us to learn to live and walk by the Spirit of God, and His promptings, not by our flesh and our understanding.

Let us learn a valuable lesson from the widow at Zarephath.

And let us ask of God in ways that are led by the Holy Spirit, not by our intellect and earthly knowledge.

And be prepared to watch God move in ways too mighty to describe with mere human words.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-25

Matthew 16:21 (LSB) 21 From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.

As the day drew nearer for Jesus to be crucified and sacrificed for the sins of humanity, He tried to drive this home with His disciples.

He wanted them to understand His purpose as a whole—not just while He was with them.

It was a weighty topic for them to understand. This was clear by Peter’s reaction, as he pulled Jesus aside and rebuked Him for saying these things.

Matthew 16:22 (LSB) 22 And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.”

It’s important for us to remember that in yesterday’s devotional, we heard Peter proclaim that Jesus was the Son of God, as revealed to him by God.

But in this instance, Peter was rebuking the long-awaited Messiah and setting himself up to be rebuked. Let’s look.

Matthew 16:23 (NKJV) 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

And just like that, Peter had gone from speaking words inspired and revealed by God, to speaking words that were equated to Satan himself.

And what about John the Baptist?

He had previously proclaimed that Jesus was the lamb of God.

Matthew 11:2-3 (NKJV) 2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

How could two people who had been given divine revelation about Jesus change so quickly? How could they question who Jesus was, and what His purpose was?

By “getting in the flesh” and forgetting what God had revealed to them.

It can happen in a split second, taking us from Spirit to flesh. And we suddenly start to question what we knew to be absolute.

This is the reason that we must walk by the Spirit; to listen intently for the voice of God, and live by that voice.

The Spirit of God will show us truth. The flesh will fail us every time.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-25

Matthew 16:15 (LSB) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?

As Jesus walked with the disciples, He asked them some questions that would reveal their understanding of who He was.

He started by asking them who people were saying He was.

They answered and told Him what they had been hearing others say.

He then asked them who they said He was.

At this question, Peter piped up immediately!

Matthew 16:16 (LSB) 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Peter exclaimed that Jesus was the Christ (Messiah), and the Son of God.

Jesus confirmed this by telling Peter that what he spoke was not revealed to him by human flesh, but by God Himself.

Now, let us also look at a similar example, but with John the Baptist.

As John saw Jesus, he proclaimed to everyone who He was.

John 1:29 (LSB) 29 On the next day, he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Peter and John both recognized Jesus for who He was; the Messiah, God’s son, who had come to redeem mankind.

If we were to leave this here, we would think that all was well. Peter and John had it all together and would never have any doubts about who Jesus was, or why He had come.

Oh, if it was only this simple. There is no happily ever-after with this one.

Tomorrow we will take a closer look at what happened, not only with Peter, but with something a bit more subtle that took place with John sometime after he had proclaimed to the world that Jesus was the Lamb of God.

We hope you will join us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-30-25

Matthew 16:23 (NKJV) 23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Jesus rarely rebuked anyone harshly, so when we see that He did, we should pay attention to what prompted Him to do so.

The fact that the rebuke above was directed at one of His disciples means we need to pay even closer attention.

If we were to look at the ministry of Jesus, we would see that most of His harshest rebukes were directed at the religious leaders of His day.

In the situation above, we find that Jesus had asked the disciples who people were saying He was.

In their replies, they told Him the many different things people had said.

But Jesus then asked them, “who do you say that I am?”.

Peter immediately replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”.

Jesus replied to Peter, proclaiming that this understanding was not revealed to him by flesh and blood, but by “My Father who is in heaven.”

Jesus commended Peter and told him that it was upon this truth that He would build His church.

It appeared that Peter had hit a homerun with this new level of insight!

Shortly after, however, Jesus began explaining to His disciples that He must suffer, be killed and then raised on the third day.

At hearing this, Peter took Jesus aside and sharply rebuked Him, stating “this shall not happen to you!”

And those words caused Jesus to turn to Peter and say, “get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me.”

As children of God, you and I should want to fully understand why this happened. Why did Jesus rebuke Peter and imply that these were the words of Satan?

It was because Peter was speaking from his human understanding, not by Holy Spirit-led understanding.

This shows us the importance of learning to walk by the Spirit of God instead of always leaning on our own understanding.

We too must learn to forego conventional thinking and learn to be led by God’s Spirit, even when our thoughts seem rational and logical.

Remember that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9).

And it is when we learn to think and live by His Spirit that we are pleasing Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-16-25 – Cranial Christians?

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of Jesus!

We pray that you are walking closely to God and growing more in Him each day 🙏

We have another new video for you today that we hope will speak to your hearts and help bring you into a new understanding.

In this new video, “Cranial Christians?”, we discuss the fact that we frequently fall into the trap of pushing the Spirit of God aside and relying on our thinking processes and our natural understanding, when we should be going to God for answers to our questions and solutions for our situations.

What does God’s word say about this?

We hope you enjoy this video, and it brings new understanding to your walk with God.

Please click here to watch the video now.

We love you all!

Enjoy your day.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-17-25

Galatians 6:8 (NKJV) 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

God’s word is extremely clear when it comes to the principles of sowing and reaping.

Most times, we think of finances when sowing and reaping are mentioned; if we give much, we will reap much.

And while there is a specific element of truth to that (which we will save as a discussion for another day), sowing and reaping also applies to other scenarios.

We can expect to reap what we sow in many other ways; joy, kindness, spoken words, and much more. We reap from all those things. What we sow, we get back in return, whether good or bad.

In the verse above, we are told very plainly that if we sow to the flesh, we will reap from the flesh.

What does that mean?

The flesh represents everything that is contrary to God; selfishness, lust, jealousy, envy, rage, temper tantrums, willful rebellion, and a list of many other behaviors.

Every one of them drives a wedge between us and God. Yes, we have an Intercessor mediating on our behalf; Jesus Christ Himself.

But having this Mediator does not give us an excuse or the right to willfully walk in the ways of the flesh. We are told very plainly that doing so leads to corruption and death.

Romans 8:13 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

We beseech everyone today to walk in and by the Spirit. Sow deeds that reap life. Flee from the things that reap death.

And as we do this, not only will we be walking in a way that honors God, but we will also be walking out the things that bring God’s blessings into our lives.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-2-25

James 3:15-16 (NKJV) 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

So-called wisdom that leads to bitter envy and self-seeking, or selfish ambition, are not from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.

Self-seeking and bitter envy are characteristics of the unspiritual man. They are the lust of the flesh. They lust, they have wrong desires, and they mess with unclean things which open them up to demonic influences.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Those who have Christ, the one who allows his/her heart to be changed by the Holy Spirit, will walk in good conduct and his/her works will be done in the meekness of wisdom.

This is the difference between walking in the flesh, living without Christ, or living with Him and walking in the Spirit.

When we become a child of God, His Spirit will rest upon us and give us the wisdom, the understanding, and the strength we need to avoid and defeat the fleshly desires that rise at times.

Isaiah 11:2 (NKJV) 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

We walk in His wisdom, His understanding, His might and fear. These are the characteristics of a believer; a child of the Most High God. Thank you, Jesus.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-24

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

We live and exist in a body of flesh and bone.

When we are children of the world, we do so by following the ways and the desires of our flesh.

But when we become a child of God, things change.

We are now led by our spirit, which was created to commune with His spirit.

So, it is a natural progression for us to leave behind living by our flesh and turn to living by His Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was given to us as our Helper.

He teaches us new ways of thinking and acting.

He shows us where we need to change, but not just so we become better human beings, or nicer, kinder people.

He shows us how to do things in this new way; a way that we are not accustomed to as fleshly beings.

But as we learn of God and begin to follow the ways of the Son, Jesus Christ, we walk, talk, and think differently.

And this new way of thinking becomes evident by our new way of doing.

This is a mystery to our flesh. It is impossible for our human intellect to understand how a creature of worldly ways can be transformed into someone who now lives by the Spirit.

But God is able to do more than we can think or imagine.

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-24-23

Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Living by the Spirit is what God desires for us.

We know this based on what we have covered during the last four days.

Living by the flesh brings death. Living by the Spirit brings life!

It is important to understand that God takes this seriously. He will not be mocked.

This means that we can’t fool God by saying one thing and doing another.

We cannot pretend to live by the Spirit while living by the flesh.

Our actions speak more loudly than our words. And our actions show who we really are.

This is not about being legalistic.

It is born of a genuine desire to live righteously, as God tells us to.

It is about letting God show us who He wants us to be, and then conforming to His will, pushing our own will aside.

It’s very simple in principle.

And it all boils down to whether we choose to please ourselves or please Him.

The verse above lays it all out in a way that we can easily understand, and no one can deny.

He who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

So, let us grow and mature, and learn to walk and live by the Spirit of God, as Jesus shared in the verse below.

John 6:63 (NKJV) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-23-23

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV) 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

In the previous few days, we have learned a lot about “the flesh”.

We now understand that living by the flesh is dangerous, to say the very least.

God desires that we live by the Spirit.

If we live by the Spirit, we will also walk in the Spirit, as stated in the verse above.

Let’s look at what that means.

To walk in the Spirit means that we honor and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

We no longer make choices based on our own preferences, but by what we know pleases God.

We set aside what we want, replacing it with what God wants.

It’s all about obedience.

God has told us that obedience is better than sacrifice, meaning that to obey Him is better than simply going through the motions of “being a Christian”.

What happens when we learn to walk in the Spirit?

Our lives change.

We begin to walk in the will of God, obeying Him instead of fulfilling the lusts and desires of the flesh.

Our satisfaction comes from obeying Him and following His ways instead of our ways and the ways of the world.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

As we learn to walk in the Spirit, we will no longer wrestle with chasing after the things that push us away from God and bring death.

Our struggles with temptation will decrease. We will learn how to overcome the things that tempt us by letting God show us how to defeat them once and for all.

This typically doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time for us to fully grasp this and put it into action.

But as we determine in our hearts to do what we know is pleasing to God, it will become easier and easier.

And a day will come when we look back and barely recognize the person we used to be.
