Bible Verse of The Day – 4-22-25

Matthew 8:2-3 (NKJV) 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus did something very interesting in the healing of the Leper.

The verse above says, He touched the leper.

Individuals that were afflicted with Leprosy were required to isolate themselves from the community signifying their unclean condition. They were not allowed to be close to others.

The priest would be the one to examine them and pronounce them Leprous or “unclean”.

Leviticus 13:3 (NKJV) 3 The priest shall examine the sore on the skin of the body; and if the hair on the sore has turned white, and the sore appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a leprous sore. Then the priest shall examine him and pronounce him unclean.

Jesus putting out His hand and touching him is critically important. This showed His authority over both disease and The Law.

He balanced out His authority over the law with His commitment to the law by telling the leper to go and take himself to the priest after Jesus healed him.

Matthew 8:4 (NKJV) 4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Jesus Christ not only demonstrated His authority over disease, but also the fact that He wants to heal our sicknesses or diseases.

It doesn’t matter what might have caused our sickness, or what kind of sickness we have. Have faith in Him today to bring healing.

He has the authority to heal every kind of sickness, and He is willing to heal those who have been stricken with such illnesses if we will just let Him touch us.

Dear Father in Heaven,

We come to You today and trust that you are able and willing to heal us from our sickness. We repent of our sins and ask You, Lord, to touch us, just like you touched the leper and removed this disease from him. We are grateful for all You do for us and we give You thanks for always being here. You never leave us nor forsake us.

In Jesus Christ of Nazareth’s name we pray. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-21-25

1 Corinthians 8:3 (NKJV) 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

As the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 8 begins, Paul is addressing the issue of eating things (foods) that have been offered to idols.

The Christians in Corinth came from a culture that was steeped in various forms of idolatry. And many of their practices included making offerings (sacrifices) to those idols.

The overall message from Paul on this topic (see 1 Corinthians 3:8-10) is that idols are nothing. They are simply false “gods” that are meaningless and lacking power.

So, if a person (a believer) understands that these idols are false (counterfeit) and powerless, then they should feel no guilt about eating such foods because they understand the sovereignty of God and the fact that they have been set free from such things by the blood of Christ.

They are no longer subject to the powers of darkness. Hence, the fact that a food item was offered to a false god means nothing to them.

In his discourse, however, Paul teaches these believers that some, especially those who are still young and immature in their walk with Christ, may be prone to stumbling (or guilt) if they witness another believer eating food that was offered to an idol.

Knowing this, he encourages the mature believers to consider staying away from these foods so as not to cause their less mature spiritual siblings in the faith to stumble or suffer from unnecessary guilt.

What is truly intriguing in this discourse is what Paul stated in verse 3, above.

He makes a very plain statement that if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.

The message that paul is conveying here is that if a person loves God, then God is aware of that love for Him, and He knows that person, thereby eliminating any possibility of condemnation on His part.

He knows their heart!

While studying this, a few different translations were compared to get a bigger picture and a more thorough understanding for the sake of accuracy.

Although the New Living Translation (NLT) is not a translation that I recommend for pinpoint accuracy in its translation, for this verse it brought the most clarity, stating very plainly the truth of what Paul was saying.

1 Corinthians 8:3 (NLT) 3 But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.

You see, when we love God, He knows it. We are known by Him.

This echoes the words of Jesus, when He said that He knows His sheep.

John 10:27 (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

This should bring great comfort and security to us as His children.

He knows us. We are recognized by the Father. Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-25

Psalm 18:1 (NKJV) 1 I will love You, O Lord, my strength.

I may not be perfect. I may not have all the answers. I may do foolish things at times. I try my best to be a good person. And sometimes my best is not good enough.

But the one thing that I know is that I love the Lord. And by loving Him, it keeps me accountable for my actions. Because no one wants to ever hurt the one they love.

Don’t give up on God today. Maybe you love Him with all your heart, but you have made mistakes that you think caused Him to disown you.

Know that God not only cares more than we could ever understand, but He will forgive us and give us another chance to get it right if we sincerely repent for what we have done.

If we love Him, we will want to get it right. And if we love Him, we will receive correction and then get back up and fix the thing that is causing us to mess up.

We may love the Lord, but sometimes it can take us time to get things right. That doesn’t mean we should stop trying.

This is a lifetime walk of continued adjustments and changes. We may fail Him, but we should never give up on the One we love.

Let us all stand together with each other, learning, changing, and growing closer to Him.

And never, ever let embarrassment keep us from receiving His correction to help us in areas where we need help.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-18-25

John 19:30 (NKJV) 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Yesterday we discussed the creation, and the ensuing fall, of man.

With a single action, mankind disobeyed God, and their relationship with God was shattered.

It would appear that man was destined to be eternally separated from God, forever banished from His presence.

The future surely looked bleak.

But God had a redemption plan already in place.

Many may wonder why God allowed this to happen. Why didn’t He create man to be sinless and perfect?

But God wanted man to comprehend His great love for humanity. He needed us to see our own hearts and then see His great love through the incredible actions He took to redeem us.

Approximately 4,000 years after Adam and Eve fell, a child was born; a child from an obscure city (Nazareth), born with no fanfare and little human recognition.

But this was no ordinary infant. This baby was the Son of God; God incarnate, born of a woman.

The name of this child was Jesus (or Yeshua).

Matthew 1:21 (LSB) 21 And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

It is important to note that the word, “He”, in the verse above literally means, He Himself.

Jesus needed no help. He needed no one else, as we referenced in another devotional recently. He alone was enough!

And so it was that Jesus came, God in the flesh (Immanuel, God with us), lived and walked among mankind, demonstrating God’s love for us in everything He did, even unto death on a brutal cross, shedding His holy blood to atone for our sins.

God was not yet finished with humanity.

And the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ was proof of this as Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after His burial, shedding the grave clothes and walking among men for another forty days before ascending to sit at the right hand of the Father for eternity.

His resurrection destroyed the grip that death had on humanity, giving us hope for life beyond the grave.

So, despite what had transpired in the garden centuries before, with man falling to temptation, God offers redemption to man through the blood of Christ. And to those who choose to embrace this offer, He gives the right to be called a child of God.

John 1:11-12 (NKJV) 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Amen!

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-17-25

Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Before humanity was created, the earth was empty and void.

There was nothing here.

There was no light, no land, no sea, no food, no trees, no herbs, no sea creatures nor animals, and no man!

There was no life whatsoever.

God created Adam, the first man, from the dust of the ground, With His hands He formed him.

After this, He breathed His own breath into Adam’s nostrils. Humanity began on this earth.

And that my friend is how life began!

Eve, on the other hand, was formed from Adam’s rib.

God caused Adam to go into a deep sleep. He then opened him up, took out a rib, and sealed up the wound.

When Adam woke from this deep sleep, he knew that Eve was bone of his bones, flesh of his flesh!

How simply beautiful. Adam called her woman because she was taken out of man.

The Hebrew word for man is Ish. And for woman, it is Ishshah!

God supplied everything for Adam and Eve.

He gave them everything to enjoy. But He told them they could not touch one specific tree in the garden.

As we all know, Adam and Eve fell. They disobeyed God.

Temptation got the best of them.

Let us not look down at Adam and Eve for disobeying God. Instead, let us learn from it.

It is a big lesson for us all. These things can happen quickly. And no one is exempt from it.

Consider these things:

Adam and Eve were not lacking or in need of anything when this took place.

They were advised by God. They knew right from wrong.

And most importantly, they were as close as anyone could get to God. Had they called on His name, He would surely have helped them to resist.

None of us ever wants to disobey God. But it does happen at times.

Thankfully, He made a way for us to be redeemed through the blood of Christ.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-16-25

Acts 4:12 (NKJV) 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Over the last few decades, we have seen the rising popularity of various schools of thought that have become immensely popular.

Some of these things do not appear particularly religious in nature if we look only on the surface, while others are a religion in and of themselves.

As time has gone by, we have watched as bits and pieces from these various schools of thought, ideologies, and religions have become interwoven into Christianity and the everyday lives of believers.

We may often hear people speak of karma; an ancient Indian Sanskrit teaching.

We may hear about chanting or types of meditation that are based on various eastern religions or mysticism.

We may even hear about the benefits of yoga, which, in reality, is spiritual at its core.

Many people tend to mix and intermingle these things with Christianity. It may not be done intentionally, but it is done, nonetheless.

This brings about confusion and a watering down of the truth. And if we are not careful, it can lead to two things.

1. People thinking that this is OK to do.

2. Unbelievers and uninformed believers thinking that Jesus alone is not enough to redeem us and save us.

It is important that we understand this truth; Jesus needs the help of no one else. His blood is enough.

Jesus plus something else (or someone else) is not necessary for us to be washed clean of our sins. His blood is sufficient.

The grace and mercy of God do not need additional personas to assist in the salvation of mankind.

In fact, these other things only detract from the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Karma is a counterfeit, masquerading in place of God’s principles of reciprocity (we reap what we sow).

Meditation on God and His word is the original. It leads us and draws us closer to Him. Meditations of any other kind are counterfeits that only lead us away from God.

And Yoga is a thinly disguised gateway to eastern mysticism, which uses its humming, chanting and various exercises to open ourselves up to spirits other than the Holy Spirit.

So, let us be keenly aware of these things. We must understand the importance of keeping our walk with God as pure and unadulterated as possible.

And in doing so, we will see and hear God more clearly and discern more accurately those things that desire only to pull us away from God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-15-25

Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

What a privilege to be able to come to God! What an honor to be able to receive His rest.

We can trust our God, the Creator of the universe and mankind. He makes everything beautiful.

He gives us such life and all the beauty around us to enjoy every day. Without Him there wouldn’t even be air to breathe.

As God’s breath entered Adam’s nostrils, life as a human began. That was the beginning of His story on earth for our fleshly bodies.

That’s right, we all have a part in this beautiful victorious story!

Your life has a purpose.

Genesis 2:7-9 (NKJV) 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Life is a gift from our living God.

And when our breath ends, our flesh is no more. Let us be diligent about fulfilling our purpose here before this day comes.

But, wait! He doesn’t stop there, because in His story He gives us a Redeemer; His son, Jesus Christ.

It is through Him that we have eternal life. So, even though this part of the story ends for us as a fleshly human being, if we believe in His son we will have everlasting life!

John 3:16 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Praise and worship Him today. He has given us life here on earth, and everlasting life in Heaven! What a beautiful Lord we serve 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-14-25

Matthew 7:14 (LSB) 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

If we pay close attention to the words of Jesus, we can easily learn some very major truths about who God is and what He wants for us.

And we can also learn what He wants from us.

In this verse, we are told that a walk of faith will be difficult.

This verse alone should convince us that following Christ will not always be easy.

Will it have its rewards? Of course!

There can be no better “reward” than eternal life in the presence of God!

Knowing that a life of following Christ will have its difficulties, this should make it much easier for us to spot teachings or doctrines that make contradictory false claims, stating that life with Jesus will make us wildly popular.

More importantly, though, it should prepare us for times or seasons of loneliness and other kinds of things that may be difficult to endure.

Why?

Because a “constricted way” (narrow road) is a road with far fewer people traveling it than a road that is wide and easy.

Does this mean that we will experience a lifetime of loneliness?

Absolutely not. It simply means that a life of following Christ will be different than the life of someone living by the ways of the world.

It is important to note, though, that despite times of feeling lonely or cast off by others, our true joy and contentment can be found in knowing that we are following the path of righteousness; the path that leads to eternal life.

That fact alone is enough to offset any temporary discomfort we may feel as we walk the narrow way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-12-25

Isaiah 32:8 (NKJV) 8 But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.

To devise means to use knowledge and imagination to think of or to plan something.

The generous man thinks about how and what he will do for others. Or he devises ways he can give to help organizations that help others.

Being generous is something that stands out and draws attention. Most people that are very generous don’t want any recognition regarding the things they do for others. They just want to do it and go unnoticed.

They mostly just want to see that happy smile and the joy that often shows up on the one that is getting help or on the receiving end.

That is a reward in and of itself. It brings great satisfaction and joy to the generous one that money or recognition could never provide.

Maybe we are not the type of person to give randomly, or at all. Can we learn to become generous?

Absolutely!

There are many ways we can start.

First and foremost, we should be very generous with our sowing to God. That is giving of what we earn.

After giving to Him from our firstfruits, if we still have excess that we wish to give, ask Him to show us other areas or ways to share in being generous with others.

If we are serious in wanting to be generous, He will provide ways of being able to give.

Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) 25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

We can enjoy the blessings that we will reap as we are faithful in being generous and doing it with the right heart.
