Bible Verse of The Day – 10-8-24

2 Kings 19:5-6 (NKJV) 5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. 6 And Isaiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.

Even though we are living under God’s grace, and the New Covenant, it is still good to spend time reading, studying, and learning in the Old Testament.

There is much that can be gleaned from these ancient writings when it comes to understanding who God is and how we got to where we are today when looking at the big picture.

As we witness current events, it is all tied to things of old. As Solomon stated, “there is nothing new under the sun.”

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NKJV) 9 That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun.

There is no evil that God has not already seen or that is unique in the earth. The devil still uses the same tactics to deceive and enslave humanity.

And God is acutely aware of it all. Nothing escapes His eye.

Righteous people often watch evil being carried out and wonder why God does not immediately judge those by whom it is perpetrated.

And here is what the Old Testament teaches us about this.

In some situations, God will allow certain actions to be carried out by people who have given themselves over to evil. Let me explain.

As the Israelites frequently disobeyed God, He punished them in different ways for their blatant disobedience.

He would often use natural disasters such as plagues, fires, famines, etc.

But sometimes He would use evil kings and armies to inflict punishment upon those who called themselves His people yet worshiped false gods and idols made by man.

We will discuss this in more depth tomorrow.

We hope you will join us.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-24

Matthew 12:28 (NKJV) 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.

As children of God, it is critically important that we understand how the transformation in our lives takes place.

God’s word shows and teaches us everything we need to know about life and shows us the path that God wants us to walk.

But if we are to be “successful” in walking that path, we need to know that it can only be accomplished by the power of, and our obedience to, the Holy Spirit.

You see, the flesh cannot overcome the flesh.

When our flesh rises up and wants to convince us to stray, or to ignore the conviction we are feeling, the Holy Spirit is the One who gives us the power to overcome the flesh.

As Jesus stated in Matthew 12:26, a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Satan does not cast out Satan.

It is only the Holy Spirit who leads, guides, chastens, and corrects.

So, what does this mean to us as followers of Christ?

It means that we cannot expect, nor does God expect us, to be able to overcome our sins and the things that keep us bound, by our own power.

Hence, what Paul stated to the Philippians.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

It is not by might nor power that we accomplish what God has set before us, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

And once we understand that, it will forever change us.

Let us wholly surrender to the leading and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-24

Jude 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

It is important to pray in the Holy Spirit. Through Him, we will receive self-edification and the building up of our faith. Which we all need daily.

How do we pray in the Holy Spirit?

Praying in tongues, or the gift of tongues, comes from God. It is not a language we can make up on our own. It is praying from our spirit, led by the Holy Spirit, not our intellect.

1 Corinthians 12:28 (NKJV) 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Praying in tongues without interpretation is not for us to speak to men, however. It is for us to speak to God. In the spirit we will speak mysteries.

1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV) 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Praying in tongues without interpretation of what we speak is for our private worship and prayer time. Praying in tongues with interpretation/prophecy is for the edifying of the church.

Paul was speaking to the Corinthians and said he wished they all spoke in tongues, but even more that they would prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:5 (NKJV) 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

Praying in tongues is for all of us, and we encourage you to express yourself through your spiritual language in your private devotion time. It will help you tremendously!

Mark 16:17 (NKJV) 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

Pray in the Holy Spirit today. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-4-24

Luke 5:16 (NKJV) 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Jesus clearly demonstrated the importance of taking time away from the noise and busyness of everyday life to pray and commune with the Father.

He even spoke a model prayer for people to hear and learn from, so they would not pray amiss, ritualistically, lacking guidance.

With that in mind, let us pray together today.

Father, we lift your name on high. You are above all else, and You are worthy of our praise and honor. Let our lives glorify You in all that we say and do.

We ask You today to forgive us for our shortcomings. Teach us to walk in Your ways, always putting you first in the choices we make.

We pray today for our enemies, for those who persecute us or wish us harm. We ask you to forgive them and touch their hearts with Your Spirit, drawing them to You, that they may embrace You and seek You with their whole hearts.

And we pray also for our government officials. May Your hand be upon them, and may they govern by Your truth and Your standards of righteousness, not by coercion, fear, or corrupt tactics.

Lord, we ask You to supply our needs, that we might have what is necessary to live; food, clothing, and shelter. And teach us to be content in our situations, looking solely to You for those things we need.

And we pray today for those who are alone; the widows, the orphans, the poor, the sick. We ask You to place Your hand on their lives and lift them up, letting them feel Your touch, that they might also draw near to You, trusting You with their needs and their lives.

We thank You, mighty God, for the blessings in our own lives. We thank You for Your provision. We thank You for Your mercy and Your grace over our lives.

We thank You for the blood of Christ, which makes us whole. And we thank You for the salvation You give freely to anyone who will accept it.

Let our lives be a blessing to You, God, shining Your light for all to see, and leading them to You.

We ask these things today in the mighty, precious name of Jesus Christ.

Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-24

Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV) 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

Let him labor.

Why? So that he may have something to give!

If we are ready to give, He will direct us as to where to give.

We must ask ourselves why we are laboring so hard. Why do we work so hard with our hands?

Is it because we want to have something to give, or is it because we want a fat bank account, a bigger house, lots of material possessions, or a retirement nest egg?

Having an occupation, and being paid for our labor is not simply to make a living, but to make it possible to be an instrument of God’s service through our giving.

Let us understand that, according to this verse, as a believer, our goal for earning money is so we have something to give back. Something we can help others with when they are in need .

Malachi 3:10 (NKJV) 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

The world would have us think that the money we make is to stash away and build a mountain for ourselves. But as a believer, God will take care of our every need as we obey Him in our giving.

This is huge. This is life changing when we finally get it. It’s an eye opener for sure!

Let us ask ourselves today, are we laboring for the right reasons? Do we have a purpose for the money we earn?

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. `

God knows what to do with it. Ask and He shall guide us accordingly!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-24

John 8:36 (NKJV) 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

God is the God of absolutes. He is the God of truth.

Jesus stated (in John 14:6) that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He came to offer freedom to humanity.

He brought (and paid for) this freedom by way of the words He spoke and by His sacrificial death on the cross. Both of these things offered freedom to anyone who was willing to embrace them in their fullness and apply them to their lives.

During His time on earth, Jesus spent a fair amount of time ministering directly to people He encountered; the sick, the lame, the demon-possessed, and even the dead.

And He healed them all. Completely.

He did not partially heal them. He did not partially deliver them. He did not partially raise them from the dead. What He did, He did in fullness.

He stated plainly in His own words that “if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

His word is truth. His words, free indeed, indicate complete freedom.

Over the last several months I have heard numerous references to addicted people reaching out to Jesus as a replacement for the drugs and alcohol that enslave them.

And while I understand the sincerity of this statement, it has shown me that many people still do not fully realize the complete deliverance and freedom that God offers through the blood of Christ.

His absolute freedom is not just my opinion. It is made plain in God’s word. But somehow the clarity and truth of this has been missed or laid aside by some.

Why? Because it can be difficult for the human intellect to grasp that a touch from God can break the chains of a years-long or decades-long addiction or health/medical problem.

But that lack of understanding or acceptance does not negate the truth.

God does not operate within the bounds of our thinking (Isaiah 55:9). He is not limited by our lack of understanding or lack of taking Him at His word.

He is still the same God who spoke the worlds into existence. He is still the same God who formed man from the dirt and breathed life into the nostrils of Adam.

And He is still the same God who chose to come to earth in human form, walk among us, demonstrate love, compassion, and mercy to us, and then willingly die in our place in the cruelest, most brutal way that man had devised at that time.

Let us see the truth that is written out for us (literally), and embrace it on a personal level, allowing Him to touch us by faith and bring the freedom and healing that He wants us to walk in.

It is real. And the words Jesus spoke are true; you shall be free indeed.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (LSB) 4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our peace fell upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-1-24

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Train up our children.

In order for parents to follow this scripture, God has to be moving in our hearts. We can’t teach our children, or anyone else, if we don’t let Him train us first.

We give up so much to see our children happy.

We often make huge sacrifices for them. But do we give up the things we need to give up so we can have a strong walk with God, and through it be an example?

The Holy Spirit is our Helper in leading our children down the right path. He will be the One to help us train up our children in the way he or she should go. And if we obey the things He leads us in, we will see the fruit of it all!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-30-24

1 Timothy 6:11 (NKJV) 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

As most of us have already heard many times, God’s word is a handbook for life.

It will teach us who God is, who He wants us to be, and how to live our lives.

It will teach us to love others, to forgive those who have wronged us, and to give God preference in everything we do.

It will also teach us about the things that we should avoid.

Sometimes our flesh wrestles with us about such things, trying desperately to hold onto our old selves and our old habits.

With that said, let us look at what Paul was sharing with Timothy in the verses immediately prior to this one!

While many in the world spend their time chasing wealth with a passion exhibited in few other pursuits, Paul proclaims that we gain much more than financial status when our godliness is accompanied by contentment.

1 Timothy 6:6 (LSB) 6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment.

So, our passion should be for what pleases God, not for what elevates us in the world’s eyes.

And as Paul proceeded (verses 7-8), he also reminded Timothy that we brought nothing into the world, and we will surely not take anything with us when we exit this world. Therefore, if we have food and clothing, let us be satisfied (content).

Finally, he warned Timothy (verses 9-10) that those whose desire is to be rich are increasingly likely to fall into temptation and harmful lusts which drown men and plunge them into ruin and destruction.

Let us learn to be content, trusting God and putting our hope and our efforts solely in our pursuit of, and our relationship with, the One who is worthy of our efforts and our passion.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-28-24

Deuteronomy 12:32 (NKJV) 32 “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

His Word has purpose. It is to help bring salvation and deliverance to us. And to teach us of His ways.

If we take it lightly, or add our own twist to it so that we can continue to do things that we want to be doing without being convicted, we jeopardize our lives.

Beware of people who stand in the pulpit and take God’s word and turn it around.

Beware of people who fluff up the words of God and sugar-coat them so they can build a big following.

Beware of people who don’t teach the whole truth, but only the things they want to teach to keep it easy on the listeners.

A lot of words are being spoken today that lead people away from God. We need to beware and keep our guard up; our ears attentive and our Bible close by.

We must let the Holy Spirit prompt us. And we need to be ready to listen quickly.

James 1:19 (NKJV) 19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…

We need to be alert. And if something we hear doesn’t sit right with us, there is probably a reason.

Check into it and compare it to God’s Word. His word is pure.

Our spirit will pick up on things that are off if we keep feeding it with God’s word.

When that happens, it’s up to us to make a move, and to stay clear of those who are adding to or taking away from His truth.

We are responsible for ourselves and what/who we let feed us.

Proverbs 30:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6 Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
