Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-9-11

(Mark 10:45 NKJV)  “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Jesus came and walked this earth for one purpose; to pay the price for our sins and take our place on the cross.

While He was here He did so many incredible things. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, cast out demons, and the list could go on and on. These are all very awesome things that He did to set an example for us, but His ultimate purpose was to give Himself for us.

Have you ever really thought about this? Has it really ever hit home with you and caused you to have a revelation of what Jesus really did for us?

Think about it. Jesus left heaven and came to this earth as a man. He came here as a baby, living out the complete human experience and walking every single step of human life, so He could see and feel everything that we see and feel. We can never say that He doesn’t understand what we go through!

Ultimately, Jesus gave His life for us. He died the cruelest death at the hands of the Romans… a civilization that had perfected cruel deaths on mechanisms such as the cross. The Bible says He was beaten beyond recognition. I don’t believe that any of us can ever fully understand the extent of the physical punishment He took at the hands of the Roman soldiers, in our place.

If you have never embraced the death of Jesus and accepted the sacrifice that he made for you on the cross, consider it right now. Understand that everything He suffered, He suffered for you and for me.

Embrace Him today. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins and ask Him into your life. Forgiveness of your sins is the most incredible gift you will ever receive during your entire life.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-8-11

(Mal 3:10-11 KJV) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Let’s ask ourselves a question today. Are we struggling financially? Are there projects we want to do but we never seem to have the finances to do them? Can we ever get ahead?

God is giving us a choice to honor Him with our tithes (a tenth of our income).  He says, bring into the storehouse.

What is a storehouse? Merriam Webster dictionary defines a storehouse as a building for storing goods (as provisions): An abundant supply or source.

As we bring our tithe to God and the place He has for us to store it in, He provides for us out of His storehouse. He takes from His storehouse and cares for our needs. But we must obey Him in this.

We want, want, want from God but we don’t necessarily want to give to God and honor Him with our tithes. Remembering that everything is HIS. The way to get things is to start by giving.

As we honor Him today with our tithe, He will turn our situations around!!

Be blessed!!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-7-11

(Exo 20:12 NKJV)  “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

This is a verse that is so commonly used when teaching children. It is a good thing to instill in our children’s hearts and minds.

How about us adults? Do we honor our father and mother?

Over time things can happen. Disagreements can take place. Points of view can change. People can take different directions in life. It happens to all of us.

But how do we look at our parents? Do we honor them? Do we show them respect?

We don’t have to idolize our parents or hang on every word they speak, but God has commanded us to honor them.

Maybe we have taken a different path than our parents did, but that doesn’t mean that we should disrespect or dishonor them. Maybe they have done things to offend us. Maybe they have disrespected us.

Maybe we have offended them and they have expressed this to us. Maybe we have disrespected them and they have told us that this is so. Either way, we need to honor them. God has told us to.

Do we honor our parents? If not, we need to ask God where to start. He will be faithful to show us and teach us if we keep our hearts and minds open to Him.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-6-11

(James 5:16 NKJV)  …The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Two weeks ago we sent out an email, asking everyone to pray for our nephew, John. He had been in a terrible car accident and was in critical condition.

During these past two weeks, John has been through very much. He has been kept in a medically-induced coma in an effort to reduce the swelling in his brain. He had severe head trauma as a result of the accident.

We wanted to give you an update. We have had many people write or call and ask us how John is doing. We wanted to reply to everyone, but we also wanted to have something to report, so we chose to wait until today to send an update by email.

As of today, Saturday, John is finally regaining consciousness. He has opened his eyes several times during the past 24 hours and is no longer on a respirator.

He knows who he is and he recognizes his Mom. So his brain functions appear to be coming back slowly.

We want to thank all of you so much for praying for John, for sending us emails of encouragement and for being genuinely concerned about him and about us.

We need to continue to pray for healing over his entire body. We need God to do a miracle and restore his motor functions 100% so he will not have to spend weeks or months in physical therapy learning how to do basic things all over again.

We are believing for a miracle. Will you continue to join us?

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-5-11

(John 3:3 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

We clearly see the key here is to be “born again” if we hope to see the kingdom of God.  The word born represents newness. That means something new is going to take place.

Nicodemus was trying to understand what Jesus was telling Him by being born again. (John 3:4 KJV) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

How many of us have thought the same way as Nicodemus, trying to figure it all out? It’s so neat that He asked Jesus this so that we can all understand the process that takes place here. Jesus told him in (John 3:6 KJV) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

We must ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, repenting of our sinful nature and the way we used to do things in the flesh, and He will give us a newness! His Spirit will come into us and we are BORN AGAIN, born of His Spirit. It’s a new day!! God is with us, living in us!!

Today, if you have not asked Jesus into your life, to be your savior, don’t wait. Time is precious and we do not know what tomorrow will bring. Live today and be free in Christ!!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-4-11

(Mark 12:31 NKJV)  “And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

This is a hard commandment. Loving our neighbor can be a difficult thing to do sometimes.

We may think that it’s not hard, but if we truly understand the meaning of it we will know how difficult it can be to really love our neighbor.

Our neighbor isn’t always the person living right next door to us. Sometimes it’s a person we see frequently in a local place. Sometimes it might be referring to someone we work with. And then other times it might be someone who is literally our neighbor, living right next to us.

In order to love them, we need to learn to see them through God’s eyes. We need to have God’s compassion for them. We need to see them as lost and without hope, just as we were before God saved us.

If we can learn to see them this way it will make it much easier to have compassion for them and to love them.

If God can love us in spite of our sin, we can love our neighbors in spite of theirs.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-3-11

(Jer 24:7 NKJV)  ‘Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

God wants our whole heart. It’s not good enough for Him if we only give Him a small place.

There are things we like to do on our own and then there are those things we allow God to help us with. Sometimes our hearts are so tied up with other things that we forget God and He gets put on a shelf until we need Him again.

When we get to a point in our lives where we have seen God move over and over again, we won’t have a problem with giving Him our whole heart. It makes it easier for us to trust Him.

He longs for us to know Him more intimately because once we do, watch out!! The closer we are to Him, the more we will trust Him. We will speak to the mountain and It will MOVE!!

Do you have a mountain you need moved today? Let Him be your God and move it!!

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-2-11

(Gen 6:18 NKJV)  “But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark; you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

Covenant. This word appears in the Bible 313 times! A covenant is obviously something that God takes seriously.

We, as God’s children, need to also take this seriously. Nowadays we very rarely hear about covenants. Everything today is about contracts and legal agreements.

Generally speaking, our word isn’t worth much anymore, at least in the eyes of others. The verbal agreement is almost a thing of the past because nobody seems to honor what they say they will do.

It may be this way between men, but it’s not the case with God. God still honors covenants. He will honor a covenant between two or more people and He honors covenants between people and Himself.

Entering into a covenant with God isn’t hard and doesn’t require a ritual. It’s simply a matter of determining in your heart that you are going to do or not do something, and then laying it before God and vowing before Him to do or not to do that thing.

Years ago we entered into a covenant with God that we would tithe from our income, no matter how our financial situation was. Whether we were abounding or struggling, we determined in our hearts that we needed to do this. We laid it before God and consecrated it before Him.

Because we made that agreement with Him, and not just between the two of us, we have honored it. And He has honored it by blessing us in many different ways.

Take what you say and do seriously before God. If you say something or intend to do something, make sure you mean it. If you feel that it’s something serious, lay it before God. Make Him a part of it. If you honor your end of it, He will honor His end of it also.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 11-1-11

(Prov 22:2 NKJV)  The rich and the poor have this in common, The LORD is the maker of them all.

This says it all. This speaks to everyone who has ever lived and who will ever live.

We might also say that the righteous and the unrighteous have this same thing in common.

It doesn’t matter what walk of life we come from, we all have this one thing in common. God created us.

There isn’t a single one of us who is better than any of the rest. It doesn’t matter whether we were born into a poor family or the wealthiest family in the world.

God created us all equal. We all have good days and we all have bad days. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses.

Any time we start to feel like we’re better than someone, all we need to do is remind ourselves that we do many of the same things as those who have less than us.

If we start to feel like we’re lower than others, we need to remind ourselves that we do many of the same things as the wealthy people.

God shows no favor to class, citizenship, race, sex, caste, skin color, height, weight, age and whatever else we can think of. These are all of man and have no bearing with God.

God created you and He loves you. Never forget this.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 10-31-11

(Prov 22:6 NKJV) Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

I can remember being a teenager and I thought nothing could touch me. I thought that I wouldn’t get caught if I was doing something wrong, but even if I did, I would just sweet talk my way out of trouble. I had it all figured out.

My parents had me in church every Sunday. They’d taught me right from wrong. I can remember clearly at times my Mom saying, “you better not do that or else.” I guess I found myself being daring; quite daring at times. You know… testing the boundaries.

How did I ever make it through some of the things I did and not get hurt? I can only imagine that I had a praying Dad and Mom. Were they perfect? No… but they were there for me whenever I needed them.

Even going through the hard teenager days, I knew deep down I had parents that loved me and they were consistent in teaching me, and when I messed up they didn’t give up on me.

Our children must be guided and taught the right things to do in this life on a daily basis. Even if it sounds like a broken record at times, don’t stop teaching them God’s way and what He says in His Word.

Don’t be surprised if they make mistakes or even backslide at times. Just know that as you do your part in training them, God’s Word tells us they will not depart.

Don’t give up on your children. No matter how old they get, keep praying, keep teaching, keep setting the example for them, and they will come around eventually. And when they do, you will be amazed at all the things you said that you thought they didn’t hear, that they will be saying to their kids or others around them. God has a way of turning things around!!

Thank God today for those that prayed us into His Arms!! Amen

Your Daily Bible Verse – 10-29-11

(Prov 20:19 NIV)  A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

I have a saying that I like to use when it comes to people who gossip, and it goes like this: If someone will talk to you about someone else, they will surely talk to someone else about you.

Gossip is a sin. God’s word says so.

Have you ever known someone who seemed to thrive on talking about other people all the time? Some people are so bad that they never even admit to their own faults because they’re so busy talking about the supposed faults of others.

Many of us engage in gossip every single day and don’t give it a second thought. But let me tell you something; not only is gossip a sin, but it can also be very damaging to the person or people you’re gossiping about.

Gossip is not a small matter. It’s very major. If we are gossiping, we need to stop. If we are listening to someone else gossip, we need to change the subject or simply stop listening.

If we have gossiped it doesn’t mean that we’re eternally condemned and there is no hope for us, but we need to change our ways and ask God to break this terrible sin in our lives.

He will do it if we let Him. All we need to do is ask Him to forgive us and then make an honest effort to stop. If we’re sincere about stopping, we will stop.

Check yourself over this weekend and see how many times you catch yourself either spreading gossip or listening to gossip. And then do something about it.

Be blessed in all you do and seek God in everything.
