Bible Verse of The Day – 9-4-20

John 21:6 (NKJV) 6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

The disciples had fished all night, and they had caught nothing.

It’s not that they didn’t know what to do. They were fishermen by trade. They knew how to catch fish!

But for whatever reason, this particular night they had not been successful. It happens sometimes, even for those with lots of experience.

They were tired and ready to call it quits when Jesus called out to them from the shore and told them to try throwing their nets out on a specific side of the boat.

So, they listened and did what the Master told them to do. And they immediately caught more fish than their nets should have been able to hold. Not only did they catch fish, but they caught large fish. 153 of them!

Sometimes we might get stuck doing the same things we have always done in the same way that we have always done them, over and over again. We never think about doing it differently.

This can apply to just about anything. Maybe it’s the way we spend our time with God. Maybe it’s how we pray or how we worship Him. Maybe it’s our daily walk.

Maybe it’s something entirely different than any of these things and it has nothing to do directly with our walk with God, but with listening for His guidance and instructions.

If we’re not listening to the leading of the holy Spirit, we may be just spinning our wheels.

Are we in a “dead end”, so to speak, in our walk with God?

Do we feel like we’re just going through the motions? Sometimes that’s because we are going through the motions.

We need to let God show us how to change things. We need to let Him show us what to do and how to do it, even in things related to our work, our daily tasks, etc.

This may not sound very spiritual in nature. It may seem more like a self-help message than the Gospel.

But to those that might think that, I say this; look at what happened to the Disciples when they listened to Jesus and threw their net out on the right side of the boat.

Not only did they catch more fish than they expected, but it’s safe to say it changed their hearts and, ultimately, their lives.

Cast your net out on the right side of the boat!

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-27-20

Acts 9:11 (NKJV) 11 So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.

Take a close look at, “the Lord said to him.”

You see, when the Lord says it to us, that is what counts. That is what we need to pay attention to.

We will hear many things and many ways of doing things in this life, but when the Lord says to us to do something a certain way, that is when we need to take note and obey. Notice that He gives specifics. That is how He is. He doesn’t leave us empty, wondering, not knowing.

Now, Ananias was a disciple at Damascus, and the Lord came to Him in a vision. Ananias replied to the Lord, “Here I am”! He was ready to listen.

When the Lord told him what he was to do, Ananias began to explain to the Lord some things regarding Saul of Tarsus that he was concerned about.

Acts 9:13 (NKJV) 13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.

How many of us do this? The Lord places something on our hearts to do, and we begin to question Him and what He is asking of us.

I know I’m talking to myself today as well. This is a problem among almost all of us. We think we have to explain in detail what could happen to us if we take the steps the Lord is asking us to take.

The Lord did reassure Ananias that everything would be alright.

Acts 9:15 (NKJV) 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

Our job is not to question or doubt, or even need an explanation. But to move and to move accordingly. To accept the task, trusting Him. Putting our concerns aside and following His leading.

He will give us specifics when we need them. He will be more than faithful to show us what we need to do when He needs to.

Don’t hesitate. Just do what He shows us. And then when the time is right, He will show us the next move.

Don’t forget Who we are dealing with! Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Alpha & Omega, Jehovah Jireh, El Shaddai, Almighty God is He!

Follow. Don’t feel the need to question or educate Him! He knows. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-19

Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) 10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

Have you ever prayed and asked God to allow you to do bigger and greater things? Have you felt small and insignificant doing the things you do?

This is pretty typical for most people. We all wrestle with this kind of thing. We want to do bigger and better things!

But there are a few things we need to keep in mind, so let’s take a look at them.

1 – First, why do we want to do bigger and better things? Is it solely because we want to make a bigger impact? Or is there maybe a little pride or ego involved?

Sometimes we see what someone else is doing and we become envious. It’s not necessarily a problem with us wanting what they have. But maybe we think that doing something bigger and better than what we’re doing now will give us some recognition.

2 – Second, what defines bigger and better? Whose scale do we use to define bigger and better? Is it ours? Or is it maybe the worlds?

We need to be careful that we don’t get our vision skewed by the things we see. We also need to remember that what we see with our natural eyes may not be the entire picture. Things might look pretty good at first sight, but there are always unseen things behind the scenes that can take away some of the supposed glamour of any situation.

3 – Third, who will “bigger and better” benefit? Will the bigger and better thing we seek after benefit us, or will it benefit someone else. Better yet, will it benefit the kingdom of God?

Before we get caught up in “moving up”, we need to remember that bigger isn’t always better.

The verse above says that God rejoices to see the work begin and to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand! This means that He rejoices just as much in small things, things in their beginning stages, as much as those things in their later stages.

The presence of a plumb line, which is used to make sure something stands straight upright, says just that; something is being built, but is not yet finished.

Take heart! Do the task that God has placed before you. Don’t worry about being big or small. Be concerned, instead, with making sure it’s done to the best of our ability, allowing God to use us and guide us.

When we let Him lead we can never go wrong.

Bible Verse of The Day – 4-25-17

Romans 8:37 (NKJV) 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

How many times do we feel we are not good enough or we are not worth anything at all? How many times do we feel that we could never do what others do? That we are never going to be anything important in life.

Well, today God wants you to know that you have already done wonderful things in your life. That you have already taken steps that maybe no one knows but Him. And those steps that you took you took when you were scared.

You had no idea what you were doing but felt with everything in you that you needed to do it, and you trusted Him with the rest.

God sees you through perfect, loving eyes and you are wonderful to Him! You are more than a conqueror through Him!

God bless you and keep going!

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-14-15

Luke 5:5 (NKJV) 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

Simon explained to Jesus what he had already done, and how he got nothing in his attempt.

But notice that even in Simon’s understanding of what happened, he still followed Jesus’ word and did what Jesus told Him to do. This is key.

We may not always understand why or what Jesus may be asking of us at times. But as long as we let Him lead, we will continue to see Him move, even in our lack of understanding.

Don’t give up on what Jesus is telling us to do today. His words are solid and transforming. You may need a healing today. Your business may need a breakthrough. Your marriage may need restoring. Your spouse may need salvation. Your children may need healing, or you may need deliverance from addictions.

If Simon said, “I already did what You are asking me to do last night, it’s a waste of my time”, and he did not heed the voice of Jesus and act upon it, he would have missed out on a huge blessing.

Luke 5:6 (NKJV) 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.

We are believing that as you take that step of faith, and you listen and do what Jesus is speaking to your heart today, your blessing will come.

Do what Simon did, pushing aside his own understanding of what he had already experienced and listening to what Jesus was saying.
