Bible Verse of The Day – 4-19-23

Psalm 18:3 (NKJV) 3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Because David was a warrior, he continually faced threats from his enemies.

David’s enemies were natural; humans who wanted to take his life or claim his throne, robbing him of what God had blessed him with.

Many of us also face enemies. But they aren’t always human.

Spiritual enemies are huge in the sense that we can’t see them, but we feel their effects on our lives.

We can also wrestle with emotional enemies. These are also very daunting, since they attack our minds and can cause us to think, say and do things out of fear that we wouldn’t normally think, say or do.

Fear is a big enemy that we all must battle. In fact, it is probably the biggest enemy we will face throughout our lifetimes.

Fear can come in many forms and will come at us for many different reasons.

Unexpected changes in our lives can conjure up extremely fearful images in our minds that can reduce a normally strong adult to a person who can’t even get out of their own way.

How do we, as children of God, overcome fear in our lives?

Each of us is different, and each of our situations are different. But one thing that never changes is the sovereignty of our God.

He never changes (Malachi 3:6). He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises never fail. And He is faithful in all things.

It’s important that we hold fast to God in everything that we face; every challenge, every obstacle, every enemy.

It is in knowing Him that we also learn to trust Him. And as we face more obstacles in our lives, and we see Him work and move, our trust in Him grows.

None of us likes to face our enemies; the fears, the uncertainties, the challenges of life.

But it’s in doing so, and overcoming them in Christ, that we truly learn to trust God and lean on Him through it all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-30-20

2 Chronicles 32:7-8 (NKJV) 7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. 8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

We all have enemies.

Some of our enemies are natural, fleshly. Other enemies are spiritual.

Either way, the words spoken above by king Hezekiah are truly inspiring and encouraging for each and every one of us, as they were for the people of Judah when he originally spoke them.

Volatile times, times of trouble that make us unsure about what we’re seeing around us, can cause many of us to sway back and forth in our emotions. One minute we’re strong and bold, while the next minute we’re unsure of anything at all.

It’s important that we not let our emotions dictate how we feel. It’s important that we let the Spirit of God continue to lead us and guide our steps, keeping us tracking toward God and His strength, not away from Him, into fear.

When these words were spoken, the people of Judah were facing a natural enemy, the king of Assyria and all of his armies.

Today, we may be facing a health crisis, a financial crisis, a crisis in the country that we live in. There are so many different things we can face.

No matter what it is, though, God is ultimately in control. He is still on the throne. He is still omnipotent. And that is why we shouldn’t live in fear, or lose hope in dire times.

As were the people of Judah, let us be strengthened by the words of king Hezekiah, king of Judah!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-19

Nehemiah 4:6 (NKJV) 6 So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.

Nehemiah had seen the terrible state of Jerusalem. The city was in ruins, and its protective wall had also been destroyed.

Because of this, his heart was broken and he wanted to fix it.

Nehemiah was only one man, but God had given him a vision for what needed to be done, so he set about gathering the people to help him get it done.

Things weren’t easy for Nehemiah. He had plenty of opposition in a man named Sanballat.

Nehemiah 4:1 (NKJV) 4 But it so happened, when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, that he was furious and very indignant, and mocked the Jews.

The opposition became so strong that Nehemiah and his men actually worked with swords in one hand and the tools needed to rebuild the wall in the other hand.

But Nehemiah and his men stayed strong, pushed through the opposition and, with perseverance and determination, they rebuilt the entire wall.

You see, when God plants a vision in us, we will have what it takes to make it happen, even if it means pushing back our opposition and getting others to help with it.

Having God backing us doesn’t mean that it will all happen easily, with no opposition.

On the contrary, when God is doing something, the opposition will sometimes grow stronger. But God will always lead us and equip us, even surrounding us with those He wants to help us.

It’s up to us to hold fast to God, push back against our enemies and follow God as He leads us to victory.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-2-16

1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV) 45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

As David stood before Goliath, he spoke these words and defied the one who dared to defy his nation’s army and his God.

David had nothing to offer Saul as he volunteered to fight the giant except his conviction to honor God.

He had no military training. He wasn’t large in stature. And he had no idea how to use conventional weapons.

Goliath had stood before the Israeli army for forty days, taunting them and daring them to come out and fight him. And for forty days, Israel had been afraid to do so.

But David knew that God was with him. He knew that God’s honor was worth defending, and he was willing to be the one to do it.

Today, maybe you’re in a similar situation. Maybe you feel convicted to defend God’s honor. But you’ve faced a giant who is belittling you and taunting you.

Maybe it’s a co-worker. Maybe it’s a relative. Maybe it’s an acquaintance. Maybe it’s a friend. Maybe it’s your spouse.

It doesn’t matter who it is. You’ve bit your tongue. You’ve held back your words. You feel like you’ve had enough and can’t stand idly by and listen to it any longer.

So maybe it’s time to speak up. Maybe it’s time to take a stand. Maybe it’s time to defend God and silence the enemy.

It can be hard to take a stand. Sometimes there is a lot at stake. But there are times when we just need to stand up and speak.

It doesn’t mean we have to be loud or overbearing with our words. It doesn’t mean we need to quote scripture. It doesn’t mean we have to argue or debate with people.

Maybe we only need to speak a few quiet words. But the fact that we stand and say something can speak volumes to the enemy.

There are times when we need to be silent. But then there are times when we need to speak up.

Listen for God’s voice. What’s He telling you to do?

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-24-16

2 Chronicles 32:7 (NKJV) 7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.

Be strong and courageous!

We’re all facing something that’s daunting or intimidating. It could be a job interview, a financial crisis, a health problem, marital problems.

It doesn’t really matter what or who it is. The thought of it makes us flinch or shrink back a bit.

But we’re here today to tell you not to shrink back, and not to be afraid or dismayed. Why? Because we have the multitude of God on our side.

1 John 4:4 (NKJV) 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

As a member of the body of Christ, we never walk alone. We have the Spirit of God as our Guide, living within us.

We have each other, fellow believers, to pray for us, encourage us and support us when we’re down.

And best of all, we have a Heavenly Father who owns the universe and everything beyond.

So let’s be bold, be strong and be courageous, in the name of Jesus, and face our adversities with confidence and strength, knowing that the God of the universe is on our side.

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-13-15

Numbers 13:27 (NKJV) 27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

Moses sent some men to spy out the land that God had given to them.

They brought back some incredible fruit from that land. But they also saw something negative in the land, as well. They let the negative dictate whether or not they could go and possess the land, which God had given to them.

Numbers 13:28 (NKJV) 28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

Their report showed that they were afraid and intimidated. They let what they saw cause fear in their hearts.

One of the men, named Caleb, saw it with eyes of faith. He was ready and willing to do whatever it took to possess the land.

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

It doesn’t matter how big or bad things may look. Just as Caleb was willing to face it and take possession of what was given to them, so must we be willing to do this when God gives something to us. When it’s too big for us, we have to take faith steps.

Let us go and possess what God has already given to us today.
