Bible Verse of The Day – 12-19-25

Joshua 24:23 (LSB) 23 “So now, put away the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to Yahweh, the God of Israel.”

As I was preparing for my day one recent morning, I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to stop what I was doing and write down what He was about to tell me.

So, being the tech geek that I am, I immediately grabbed my phone and began to speak the words that I heard, dictating it as a text message to myself.

I then asked God what the purpose of this word was. And He impressed strongly upon my spirit that I was to share it with everyone.

So, below is what He said, word for word. And then I will expound for clarification.

The words in bold are what He spoke to me.

Do not worship foreign gods.

Do not mix truth with what is false. There is one Way. There is one Truth. And there is one God. All else is false, and what is false will lead to destruction and death.

Do not mingle with that which is foreign and false. Do not marry that which is foreign. Give no honor to imposter gods who call your name.

Walk with Me only. I will sustain you. I will protect you. I will give you life eternal.

All others lead to death and eternal condemnation.”

As you can see, everything in this word revolved around foreign/false gods.

He accented this with words affirming that there is but one Way.

The mingling and inter-marrying are not literal in this case. They are symbolic.

We are not to mix truth with falsehoods; false teachings and false teachers. We must compare what we hear with His word, always, verifying its legitimacy.

We are to stay away from these things and these people. We cannot mingle with them physically or spiritually.

And He concluded it with a very strong warning.

False, foreign gods, and their illegitimate teachings lead to death and eternal destruction.

This is a word that we all need to hear and must apply to our lives.

It is a very strong warning and a caution for the body of Christ to exercise very sharp discernment regarding what we consume and what we accept as truth.

Thank you, Father, for your faithfulness in keeping us alert, and on the straight and narrow path that leads to life 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-26-18

Acts 13:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

God said that David was a man after His own heart. This is a big deal!

Many may look at David and think that he was a spiritual superhero, a near-perfect man, a man with few or no flaws. Nothing could be further from the truth.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He loved God immensely and would do whatever God asked him to do. But David was also very human, with many flaws and shortcomings.

As a man after God’s heart, he longed to please God and do the right thing. But David made some very poor choices in his lifetime.

He had an adulterous affair and then had the husband of his mistress killed in battle. And if we were to read more about David, we would see that his sins wreaked havoc with his family and with the kingdom of Israel for years to come, trickling down to other generations.

But one thing stays very clear when we look at David’s life. He never strayed from his God. And he never followed or worshiped foreign gods or worthless idols.

Are we like David? Are we a man or woman after God’s own heart? Are we loyal to God through thick and thin? Do we hold fast to Him no matter what comes our way?

Or do we wander and stray from Him, following whatever or whomever blows in with the winds?

Our hearts say a lot about us. What’s in our heart eventually comes out. This makes it very important to surrender our hearts to God and let Him take the wheel, guiding us in the direction He wants us to go.

And even if we make some poor choices along the way, if we stay steadfast in our love for God, He will call us a man or woman after His own heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-21-18

1 Samuel 7:3 (NKJV) 3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

Many have drifted away from God. Maybe it’s someone you know. Maybe it’s you.

Foreign gods can come in many forms. They don’t even have to have specific names, or even specific religious rituals to follow.

They just need to be able to take our attention off of the one true God long enough to cause us to put Him on the back burner for a while. Or maybe we move Him down our list of priorities, to somewhere lower than at the top.

There are many kinds of “Ashtoreths”, false goddesses, that we keep images of in our hearts and our homes; Money, fame, social status, self-vanity, sports stars, movie and musical celebrities, and so many more. They each hold a special little piece of our hearts.

Those pieces of our hearts are places where God is not allowed. Oh, He can look. But He can’t touch.

Many of us are facing our very own “Philistines” in our lives. We are standing in front of giants that taunt us and mock us, laughing out loud and daring us to step forward and just try to slay them, knowing that our false gods have weakened us and caused us to become spiritually impotent.

Our hearts can no longer afford to be divided between God and “Ashtoreth”. The division only makes us weak and feeble, unable to conquer a single foe, let alone a menacing giant.

It’s time for us to return to God with our whole heart. It’s time for us to put away the foreign gods and the “Ashtoreths”, and get serious with God. We need to serve and obey Him alone. When we do this, He will deliver us from the hand of the Philistines in due time.

Menacing giants or victory? Ashtoreth or God? It’s up to us; we choose.
