Tag: Bible verses about learning to be content

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-27-23

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

Having a content heart is the best feeling ever!

A content heart comes when we trust God at His word. In order to trust God at His word, we have to know what He is saying regarding our situation.

How do we know what God is saying about our situation?

We have to listen and pay attention to His word, His signs and His promptings that He will give us. No matter what circumstance we face, He will guide us in each of them.

Some people get tired of waiting on God; they get impatient and start to do their own thing. Others don’t have the faith to take the steps that are necessary.

But the heart that knows He is in our midst, that heart will wait! That heart will obey! And will receive the goodness of God! Hallelujah!

He will lead us into victory every time, children of God. The Mighty One will save.

We must know that sometimes it may not be the way we thought it would be or the kind of victory we wanted. But it will be good for us nonetheless.

This trust is what brings us contentment and peace no matter where we are in our walk with God.

We need to follow Him all the way. He will quiet us with His love and rejoice over us with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Be content today.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-21-22

Philippians 4:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As I was busy doing some things around the house today, the Holy Spirit dropped some things into my spirit to share with all of you. He initially spoke about contentment, and then He began to expand on that, giving me some new insights. So, let’s take a look.

Over the years, Pastor Ellie and I have learned a lot about learning to be content in whatever situation or season God has led us into. This was a hard lesson to learn at the onset, especially when we walked through seasons of financial drought and famine.

Nobody enjoys those types of seasons.

But it was during those very trying seasons where He slowly transformed our minds, through His word and the leading of His Spirit, helping us to better understand what He means by contentment.

As hard as it was in some aspects, it was very easy in other ways. It’s tough to explain fully, but suffice it to say that God showed us ourselves so we could see where we thought we were content, but we were really seeking after things that He didn’t want for us.

A lengthy season of famine is a good teacher!

And the things we learn from those seasons will stay with us for the rest of our lives even though they may be painful to look back at.

Again, nobody enjoys tough seasons, but they are valuable assets to our walk with God if we allow Him to teach us. His wisdom is infinite!

It’s usually down the road a bit, when we look back, that we begin to get understanding as to why God orchestrated things the way He did. And if we don’t get that understanding right away, we will see it later at some point if we allow Him to show us.

For the final point today, take a look at how Paul ended this group of verses; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

At first, this little statement may seem rather disconnected from the words preceding it. But if we look closely, it’s actually a huge nugget of wisdom that he’s sharing.

It is Paul’s faith in Christ that allows him to be content in all situations!

Once our faith in Christ is firmly rooted, our contentment lies in Him, not in our situations or our material possessions.

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-20-20

Psalm 27:13 (NKJV) 13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Don’t take life for granted; our family, our friends and our surroundings.

Make sure we make every day count with them! And enjoy the beauty that lies within that day. Every day there is something we can be thankful for.

If we tend to have a negative outlook on everything it’s going to be hard to find the goodness of the Lord. But keep trying and they will be there.

We may not have everything we want today. But If we are God’s child, we have what we need.

Maybe we are about to lose our home, or our job. Maybe our health isn’t the greatest and we are on medication, and the medication is causing side effects, making us feel less than ideal.

There are a lot of things we can say about today. Maybe someone just lost a loved one. Maybe someone is not able to have children. Maybe someone can’t work because of health issues.

With every bad or negative thing going on with us, we can think of something good and positive that is going right!

How about we start today, looking at the good things. And start sharing them, instead of always looking at what’s wrong.

Let us take today and have a conversation about the things that are going right; the good things that are happening right now.

I’m sure there are good things for us all to share about. Right now, maybe it’s only just one good thing. But that’s OK. It’s better than no good things.

Look high and look low. Look in between. Search for the good thing and shout them from the rooftop. God’s goodness is in the land of the living!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-23-19

1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

We teach frequently on contentment; learning to be content, no matter what our current situation looks like.

This is something that we have learned over the years. Many times, this only comes by way of various trials and hard times, where we learn to get by with just enough. For many of us, this can only be learned in very dire circumstances.

As humans, we all would like to be comfortable, not having to worry about whether we will be able to pay our bills on time each week. Each and every one of us is in a different place when it comes to this.

Seasons come and go in our lives, where we might go from the valley to the mountain top, and maybe back into the valley again, and so on. Sometimes it can be frustrating, to say the least.

But as we learn to put our trust in God, no matter what our circumstances are, we begin to learn to be content in a way that only He can teach us.

It’s not just about material things. Yes, there are things we need to live, to survive. But being content is about more than just material things.

We can be content with our job, while looking for something better.

We can be content with our financial situation, while seeking God and asking Him to give us wisdom to handle our finances more wisely.

We can be content with the home that we have, while working diligently toward something better.

Being content doesn’t mean simply sitting back and never working toward something better. It means that we thank God for what we have and where He has us, and we don’t take for granted a single thing that we have been blessed with.

And, finally, it means that we understand the fact that life is not about accumulating earthly possessions.

Yes, we can have nice things. But the value of our life and the meter by which we gauge our success isn’t about how many things we have or the value of those things.

For we surely came into this world with empty hands. And we will most certainly leave it the very same way.

Bible Verse of The Day – 2-17-19 – Fantasy and The Believer

Please click to watch the video now.Greetings in the name of our wonderful Savior!

Fantasy is a word that you won’t find in the Bible. But it’s something that can impact the lives of believers, and it’s something that we need to understand clearly from a Biblical perspective.

In today’s video, Fantasy and The Believer, we share what the Bible teaches about fantasy, even though the actual word fantasy isn’t in there.

We also share some stories about how we have seen this kind of thing impact the lives of other believers over the years.

We hope you’ll give this a watch, as it treads into some territory that many people don’t normally enter into, and we think it’s something that’s beneficial for the entire body of Christ.

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy your day and be sure to tell God how much you love Him.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-6-18

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 (NKJV) 12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

Pastor Ellie and I were talking this morning about what God has been doing in our own lives, and the direction He has taken us over the last several years.

We will readily admit that we never had any idea that God would use us for the things He is using us for. But He has molded and shaped our hearts as He leads us to reach out and share His love, mercy and hope with others.

The verses above are our prayer for you, that He will make you increase and abound in love to one another, and to all.

He has taught us how to be content, no matter our situation. We learned to rest in Him whether we were prospering or in dire need. Our faith and trust are completely in Him. He is our provider and sustainer.

And so we also desire for all of you, that your trust would lie wholly in Him each and every minute of every day, no matter what comes your way.

Once we understand this and begin to live it out, we will begin to see God in new and life-changing ways. And our hearts will change.

Contentedness is not something that comes naturally. It takes letting God teach us how to be content in Him. And that comes completely by faith, as we grow to love Him and trust Him more.

Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

We love you all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-24-15

Psalm 23:1 (NKJV) 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

We spend so much time focused on the mountains and the valleys in our lives.

We covet the mountaintop experiences and loathe the valleys. And in the process, we miss out on everything in between.

Our lives consist of so much more than highs and lows. In fact, the highs and lows happen infrequently, which is why they stand out so much in our minds.

But God is faithful in every aspect of our lives, through everything that we walk through. So it’s important that we learn to be thankful for each and every day we have, not just for those days that we see as highlights!

Philippians 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content…

Learning to be content helps bring stability into our lives, because when we’re content, we won’t be constantly looking for the next big high or mountaintop.

Being content also helps us to be thankful for what we have and where we’re at. When we learn to be content, we also learn to be grateful for what we have, regardless of how plentiful or how lean it might be.

And all of this comes with growing as a believer, spending time in God’s word and learning who He wants us to be.

So whether we’re on the mountaintop, in the valley, or somewhere in between, let’s be content and thankful.
