Bible Verse of The Day – 1-25-26 – Being True to Our First Love

Please click to watch the videoGreetings in the wonderful name of Jesus!

Proverbs chapter 7 teaches us about the seductive tactics of a harlot: a promiscuous woman who seeks to ensnare a young, unsuspecting man.

But there are many lessons beyond what is directly stated in these verses. And we can learn much from those less obvious, implied symbolisms.

In our new video today, we address these verses in a well-rounded way that helps us to see the ways this can be applied to our lives.

We hope the video, Being True to Our First Love, speaks to your heart as you watch and listen 🙏

Please click here to watch the video now.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

We love you all!

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-11-25

James 1:15 (LSB) 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully matured, it brings forth death.

By now we have firmly established the fact that if we perpetually wrestle with the same sins, and we cannot seem to break free of them, it is because our own desires (lusts) cause us to be repeatedly lured in and defeated.

James 1:15, above, clearly states that when this happens, the desires within us give birth to sin. And when that sin is fully matured (continually practiced or engaged in), it leads to death.

This is very plainly spoken. There is no wiggle room here.

As mentioned in the previous days of this series, there is one way to defeat this pattern of sin; complete surrender to God.

Now that we fully understand the root of our sin problem (our own lusts and desires), we can take the steps necessary to defeat it.

Now, let’s be clear that this is not a 12-step program. It is not self-help. It is not psychological therapy.

It is Holy Spirit-powered cleansing of ourselves that will deliver us and set us free from bondage to these kinds of sins.

It is ONLY by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can be set free.

Nothing else will work. And even the Holy Spirit cannot help us if we fail or refuse to submit, surrender, and allow God to purge us of the evil that lurks in us.

Please listen. This is a matter of LIFE or DEATH.

If you are plagued by this problem in your life, your eternal soul is at stake. Your relationships are at stake. Everything about your life is at stake.

Submit yourself wholly to God and let Him set you free.

No, it won’t just effortlessly happen. Yes, it will require work on your part, consisting of determination, perseverance, and the willingness to obey God and walk away from opportunities to sin.

And it will require you to resist the devil. For in doing so, he will flee from you.

But remember that in all this, God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. And in that blessing will come deliverance.

James 1:12 (NLT) 12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

Father, I ask you to bless these words and let them penetrate the hearts of those in need of hearing this message of truth and freedom. And I ask that you bring conviction where it is needed, hope and encouragement where they are needed. And bring freedom to burdened souls in the name of Jesus.

Amen 🙏

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-10-25

Romans 12:1 (LSB) 1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—living, holy, and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

It is only when we wholly surrender to God, allowing Him to cleanse us and change our heart, that we can fend off the wiles of the enemy and refuse to sin instead of falling to it repeatedly.

You see, it is our own ungodly desires that cause us to fall.

There is no one we can blame. We must bear responsibility for our failures.

Yes, some are weaker than others in these things. But there is no sin too big for the blood of Christ to deliver us from.

The things that we leave unsurrendered within us will haunt us and cause us to fall repeatedly until we wholly surrender to God in every aspect of our lives.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Complete surrender to God is the key. We cannot submit partially to God and expect Him to cleanse us completely.

He does not forego our own will. He works with what we give Him.

If we want our whole self to be cleansed and free from the burden of the perpetual sin, we must surrender our whole self to Him and give Him permission to rid us of the sinful desires in our heart.

We cannot love sin and expect to defeat it. And it is in surrendering our hearts to Him that we begin to hate the sin that besieges us and learn to love Him instead. That love for Him leads us to repentance and wanting ourselves clean before Him in every aspect of our lives.

Remember, Christ paid the highest possible price for us. He gave His life. There is nothing more that He could have done.

We owe it to Him to honor His sacrifice for us by presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service and act of worship.

Let’s wrap this up tomorrow where we will tie this all together in conclusion.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-9-25

James 1:14 (LSB) 14 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully matured, it brings forth death.

After what we discussed yesterday, let’s get down to the meat of this topic and discuss what the source of our sin failure really is. This will make it easier to understand how to defeat that sin pattern in our lives that repeatedly continues to knock us down.

Now, this is where it can get a bit tricky, because what I’m about to share may offend some people.

But what I am about to say is 100% backed by scripture, so let’s take it at face value so we can learn everything we can from it.

The big question that we all need to ask is, where does our failure against temptation come from?

What is the source of our propensity to fail when confronted with temptation?

It is our own self.

So, now that this truth is on the table, let’s talk about it.

Yesterday’s devotional was based on James 1:13, which tells us plainly that temptation never comes from God.

If that’s the case, then where does our temptation come from?

The devil, our enemy, is referred to as “the tempter”. He is the one who tempts us.

But why do we succumb to temptation and fall into sin?

Because of the lusts and desires that are within us.

Yes, we are our own worst enemy.

We are not the source of temptation, but we are the source of our failure to successfully combat those temptations.

Join us again tomorrow as we lay out what is required to win this battle once and for all.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-8-25

James 1:13 (LSB) 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

Humanity has a sin problem.

The perpetual wrestling match between man and sin has been happening since the beginning of time.

Temptation comes to everyone. Not one of us is exempt.

But each of us handles it differently.

Some seem to fall easily, never reaching a point in their lives where they can stand in the face of temptation and defeat it. They fall repeatedly.

But others defeat it more frequently. And to outsiders watching from a distance, it may seem that these people have it all together because they seemingly never fall.

Why is that?

To be brutally honest, those who cave in to temptation less frequently have learned how to walk away from sin.

Does this mean they are better people?

No. It means they have come to understand what it is that causes them to sin. And they have surrendered that part of themselves to God. They have allowed Him to teach them how to turn and walk away.

They have given Him their loyalty, their allegiance, their whole heart. And they have allowed Him to mold them, shape them, and train them in the ways of righteous living.

And though this may appear from the outside to be easy, it is not, especially in the beginning.

It is a lifelong endeavor that requires dedication, purposeful surrender, and wholehearted loyalty to God.

Anything less than full, unconditional surrender will result in failure.

This is something that we all need to learn and understand more fully.

So, let’s talk more tomorrow.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-25

Matthew 4:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Understand when Satan, the tempter, comes to tempt us, we have what we need to overcome the temptation.

What is it? The Word of God!

There is power to overcome any kind of temptation by God’s promises. By His truth. By His word!

Sometimes we may not remember the exact chapter and verse, but knowing what God says is what’s most important.

The Holy Spirit will help us in this, but we must be willing to trust God and stand against temptation when it is staring us in the face.

Jesus didn’t try to overcome this on His own. He used the Word of God to rebuke the devil, and He was victorious!

God’s word is powerful. It is true, it’s alive, and it wins every battle the enemy throws at us.

Know the words of God. We must stand on them, and hold them dear to our hearts! Use them whenever the enemy tries to tempt us. And he will flee.

Matthew 4:11 (NKJV) 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-3-25

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

People today have become very desensitized to sin and the ways of the world.

Many children of God have even fallen in line with the crowds and are actively participating in ungodly things with little or no conviction on their part.

This message may be just a gentle reminder to some. But to others it may be an eye opener.

If we are Christians, followers of Christ, we need to remember that our bodies are no longer ours. He bought us with His precious blood that was shed on the cross. His Spirit lives in us.

If we allow Him to, He will help us and give us the strength to overcome the lusts of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 (NKJV) I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Knowing that He dwells in us, we must understand that if we don’t overcome these sins in our lives, and we continue to participate in them, we are involving Him in, and exposing Him to, what we are participating in.

We need to understand that the choices we make will either glorify Him or grieve the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Let us ponder the things we do each day.

We must examine our routines, our habits, and our entertainment, knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in us. We literally take Him with us wherever we go.

Are there changes we can make, even in the smallest areas?

We are responsible for keeping our temples clean. Let us continue to walk in His Spirit daily that we will glorify Him in our bodies!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-28-24

1 Peter 2:24-25 (NKJV) 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

When Jesus Christ died on that cross, He broke the bondage that sin tried to keep us in. He set us free.

The sin that tried to hold us captive has no power over us.

We were completely set free from all that tries to keep us in prison. He says we were healed!

So, if we are healed, we must have been sick; sick from these addictions, weaknesses, etc. These things that have or previously had a grip on us would bring death with them, and would have destroyed our souls if not for the blood of Christ that brings freedom.

But praise God, He made a way through Jesus Christ, His Son!

Those addictions, lust, perversion, hate, jealousy, adultery, etc. have been broken and we can live a life of righteousness in Christ.

We may ask, “how can we? I’m so tempted at times”.

We know that as we cry out in His name, the name of Jesus Christ, and we resist the devil, he will flee.

James 4:7 (NKJV) 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

We can’t love our sin and resist the devil at the same time. It won’t work. We must hate our sin and love Jesus. He will help us overcome the obstacle that pulls on our flesh.

We are all like sheep, heading astray. Every one of us. But through our Savior, the Overseer of our souls, we can be set free!

What hope we have in Him as His children! Amen

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-5-24

Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Do you know we can put ourselves in bondage all over again if we don’t take the right steps in keeping ourselves free?

Now, we are not talking about us losing our salvation here. We are talking about sin that keeps us from growing in our relationship with Christ. Sin that puts distance between us and God.

Once God has set us free, we must put forth effort to keep that freedom.

Every day we get up we must make sure nothing puts us back into that same sin or bondage again.

We have to fight to keep our flesh from wanting to go back. Why? Because flesh loves routine, loves comfort, and it loves familiarity.

Sin is something that comes natural to us. We were all born sinners.

We have to remember before we were saved we were once used to conducting ourselves by the lust of our flesh. Now we must fight off the desires of our flesh and mind.

Ephesians 2:3 (NKJV) 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

It can be very hard to do at times.

However, when temptation comes (and it will come), remember that with the help of the Holy Spirit, and our desire not to fall into the same trap again, we can defeat the enemy and escape the temptation. God’s word tells us this!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

So, let us not fall back into the same bondage. Let us be completely free through the way of escape that God provides in that moment of great temptation!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-3-23

Hebrews 2:18 (NKJV) 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Jesus was tempted in all areas. And He remained sinless.

Was it easy for Him?

No. It was exceedingly painful at times. But because He was tempted, He knows what temptation involves and what it feels like. And He can sympathize with us.

You see, if you don’t go through things yourself, you can’t really help others. If you don’t understand what they are dealing with, you can’t walk them through it.

Jesus understands.

Some of us today are being tempted repeatedly, to the point where we are about ready to just give in so it will stop.

But, remember that we have dwelling in us Him who helps us not to give in.

He is our rock, our strength. He is the giver of wisdom, and He will help us to discern and make right decisions.

His strength is made perfect in our weakness, we just need to walk in it.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I say to whoever is struggling this moment with temptation, “you are not fighting it alone”.

You have Someone who will aid you and help you to overcome it. Cry out for His help. Don’t be ashamed.

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-31-23

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

One of the things that I have learned over the years is that we (human beings) tend to overcomplicate things.

We do this in many facets of life.

This applies to our walk with God as well.

We look past what God tells us in His word and try to do things based on our intellect and our emotions. And when we reach our wit’s end, we throw our hands up and walk away, surrendering to whatever it is that we were trying to overcome.

We tend to approach sin in our lives the same way.

When we keep caving in to temptation, we begin to believe that we are just destined to fail, and we settle for that.

We mistakenly believe that sin comes by way of external forces; temptation offered to us through others.

And while it is true that others may try to tempt us and lure us in to sin, check out what these two verses say:

James 1:14-15 (NKJV) 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

It is because of the desires within us that we fall repeatedly.

So, how do we finally overcome temptation and destroy the sin pattern in our lives?

Look at what the Psalmist said in the verse above; Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

This takes the whole temptation and sin thing, wraps it in a tidy little package that totally destroys our thinking when it comes to our struggles with sin, and then gives us the solution:

Hide His word in our hearts and overcome the sin in our lives, once and for all. Yes, it is that simple.

Anything that we think makes it more complicated is based on our emotions and our failure to allow God to show us the truth.

You see, God’s word implanted in us defeats the enemy in our lives. His word in us is a constant reminder of His truth and His holiness.

And if we hide His word in our hearts, He is sure to bring it to mind when we are tempted, diverting our attention from the temptation, and placing it squarely on Him.

That is the best sin prevention we could ever ask for.
