Tag: Bible verses about there being no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Bible Verse of The Day – 3-10-23

Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

If we were to read the last part of Chapter 7 of Romans, leading up to the verses above, we would see that Paul is discussing a war that rages within each of us; the battle between the flesh and the spirit as we wrestle daily with sin that tries so desperately to wear us down.

As we begin reading chapter 8, we know that Paul is referring back to chapter 7 by his use of the word, “therefore”.

His discussion leads him to state that if we are in Christ (if our faith is in Christ), there is, “therefore”, no condemnation for us.

Christ’s redemption through the shedding of His blood, by which we gain our salvation, sets us free from being condemned for our sins.

It’s important, though, that we understand verse 2 and how it applies to us as believers.

Paul discusses two different “laws”.

One is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The other is the law of sin and death.

Neither of these is a written law.

The law of sin and death refers to the flesh and its desire for sin and the things of this world. There are constant battles that take place in our flesh as we endeavor to leave our sinful ways behind and walk the righteous path that God has set before us.

Accomplishing this is only possible by following the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Again, this is not a written law.

It is the process of us allowing the Spirit of God to lead us and guide us. And as we obey His leading, He will mold us, shape us and transform our hearts through the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).

This process causes us to become, one step at a time, the man or woman that God is aiming to shape us into.

It all depends on our willingness to obey God.

But in our obedience, we will watch the precious transformation take place that removes the scales from our eyes and allows us to witness and experience life free from condemnation under God’s beautiful mercy and the blood of our perfect Savior.

Bible Verse of The Day – 9-9-22

Romans 8:1 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Happy Friday! Let’s wrap up the work week with one more short study on some verses from Romans.

On Monday and Wednesday we discussed the power of God’s grace, faith in Christ and how applying them to our lives will help us obey God and break free from habitual sin that leads to death.

Today, let’s talk about the results of obeying God, and what that means for us.

Verse 1 above states that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Let’s dig into that.

Condemnation: the finding of fault, guilt or an unfavorable judgment. Denunciation, disapproval.

Now, some translations don’t include the second half of verse 1, “who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”.

That phrase is basically a qualifier that helps us better understand what the first half of the verse means.

But let’s look and see what is meant by the first half of verse 1 so we can get a deeper understanding of what it really means, even without that second half.

Being “in Christ Jesus” insinuates or infers a relationship; something that is genuine and active, not just a casual, occasional or intermittent on-again-off-again faith that is not visible, active or being genuinely walked out in one’s life.

If we are “in Christ Jesus”, we have a functioning, healthy relationship with Christ. Our life will reflect it by the fact that we walk “according to the Spirit”, not according to the flesh.

We can take heart in the fact that Christ has paid the price for our sins. And because our faith in Him sets us free from our old, sinful ways, we are no longer condemned.

We have been found not guilty!

This is amazing when we consider who and what we used to be and who God has made us.

We were rescued from death and brought into eternal life through His blood and His sacrifice.

This in itself is miraculous and unexplainable by natural standards.

Only the blood of Christ can do this.

Thank you, Father, we give you glory and honor for your incredible grace over our lives. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-21-19

Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV) 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

There is no condemnation, damnation or criticism to us, Sons and Daughters in Christ. Isn’t that awesome to know?

We are free, as we walk according to the Spirit. This means that we sincerely try to do what God wants or expects from us.

Sometimes we might feel like we are dying because of the effort and discipline we have to put towards it. But its important to remember that our efforts are pleasing to our Lord, and well worth it.

Just imagine the Lord saying to us, “well done”!

Matthew 25:21 (NKJV) 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Be encouraged today. God sees your efforts. He sees you pressing in at times when it would be easier to give up. He is pleased with you for sticking it out and doing the right thing in spite of the circumstances around you.

Good things don’t come when we sit back and do nothing. It takes hard work and pressing through. It takes walking according to the Spirit, not the flesh. Amen.
