Bible Verse of The Day – 3-27-14

Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Fear. Most times when we think of this word, it isn’t related to anything good.

But there is actually a healthy kind of fear that we all learn to have when it comes to certain things in life.

We can fear burning our hand in a flame. We can fear shutting our fingers in a door. We can fear cutting ourselves with a sharp object. These are all healthy fears because they keep us from hurting ourselves.

The fear of God, though, is the healthiest kind of fear. If we are a child of God, we need to fear Him in a reverent way.. a way that shows reverence for Him because of who He is. We don’t walk around being afraid of Him, but we know that He is all-powerful.

If someone doesn’t know God, they should fear the consequences of being judged by Him. I recall seeing a short clip of someone on TV the other day, a popular celebrity here in the USA, who was mocking God in a way that truly made me nauseous. I actually feared for this man’s life and his soul because of the things he was saying. I could only take hearing it for a few seconds before I just had to turn it off.

This man needs to fear God in a way that causes him to cry out to God and beg Him for mercy.

God says in His word that the fear of Him is the beginning of wisdom. We should all pray for this kind of wisdom and ask God to teach us to fear Him in a way that’s pleasing to Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-20-13

(Luke 7:14-16 NKJV)  Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” {15} So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. {16} Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”

“Then fear came upon all”.

How many of us fear God? I’m not talking about the kind of fear that you have when you’re scared of someone hurting you. I’m referring to a healthy fear… the kind of fear that you have out of respect for someone.

Jesus was the perfect example of God’s amazing, unconditional love. But yet He caused the fear of God to fall on people when they saw his miracles.

Sadly, too few people fear God today. The reverent fear that we should have has been replaced with sugar-coated messages that try hard not to offend people or hurt their feelings.

God is love. But He is also pure and holy and worthy of our reverent fear. Without reverence and fear, we are taking God for less than who He really is.

We need to love God with our whole hearts. And when we do that, we will be gin to understand that we also need to fear God in a healthy, reverent way.

Bible verse of The Day – 1-1-13

(Ecclesiastes 3:14 NKJV)  I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.

Things come and go in our lives. Jobs, family, friends, etc., there is always going to be change. But one thing we can rest assured in is God and His Mightiness! He is watching over us, keeping us, caring for us and helping us even when we don’t know it.

He is Omnipresent – present in all places at all times. God is everywhere and He knows everything that is taking place at all times. That is huge to know. We don’t need to fear our situation or the people that try to intimidate us. We need to fear God in His Awesome greatness. He is powerful and loving, all in ONE!

This kind of fear will bring us into a closer relationship with God. It gives us accountability, causing us to want to do things the way God wants it done, knowing that His love and direction for us is to bring us into a life of victory!!

Knowing how Awesome God is should not cause us to run away from Him, but to Him.

Run into His arms and have a Happy New Year!!
