Bible Verse of The Day – 2-6-13

(Acts 19:19-20 NKJV)  Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. {20} So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

What is the body of Christ dabbling in today?

Magic? Fortune Telling? Astrology? Psychics? And so many other things that are “spiritual”, but not of the Spirit of God?

I want to make an appeal today to purify yourself in your relationship with God. We don’t need God and something else. We just need God.

Jesus did not die on the cross so we could have faith in Him and the local fortune teller. He didn’t suffer at the hands of the Roman soldiers so we could call Him our Savior and then base our lives on what the tarot cards say we should do or shouldn’t do.

I call on you right now to abandon these demonic practices and cling to Jesus and Him alone. If you have dabbled in any of these things or if you practice them regularly, stand up today and renounce them all in the name of Jesus.

Turn from them and ask Him to forgive you, and then forsake those practices for the rest of your days.

Trust in Him and Him alone. Let the Word of God prevail in your life.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 1-21-12

(Acts 16:16-18 NKJV)  Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. {17} This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” {18} And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.

I wanted to bring these verses to everyone’s attention to make a point.

Many times when people go to a fortune teller, they come away astounded and impressed that this person could tell them things about their past. They do this in two ways.

1 – They make guesses based on events that are common to most people.

2 – They are aligned with familiar spirits, which feed them information about your life.

Familiar spirits speak things that are true, but their source is demonic and evil. After speaking these things about your past, they have your full attention and they will typically tell you things about your future and these things will usually be dire and negative.

So many times this will result in great oppression in a person’s life because they have now allowed themselves to be under the influence of a demonic spirit without knowing that this is what’s taking place.

In the scripture above, Paul became annoyed with this young woman, even though the words she spoke were true. He saw through what was going on and cast the demon out of her.

Just because words that are spoken are true, doesn’t mean they come from the Source of Truth. Be very careful and cautious as to whom you allow to speak into your life. The consequences can be very serious.

Seek His peace and trust fully in Him.

Your Daily Bible Verse – 1-20-12

(Lev 19:31 NKJV)  ‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Fortune tellers, palm readers, tarot card readers; they all have one thing in common, and it’s not their so-called ability to tell the future or tell you about your past. They all operate under spiritual influence that isn’t from God.

As followers of Christ, we should never allow ourselves to fall into the trap of these people… not even “for fun”. The things they speak are straight from hell and the spirits they operate under can cause a world of problems when believers submit themselves to their words and their influence.

Their advice typically leads to oppression and confusion. They may appear to be spiritual, and they probably are spiritual, but the spirit they operate under isn’t God’s spirit. Being spiritual doesn’t necessarily mean being godly.

If you have consulted one of these people in the past, I encourage you right now to repent and ask God to forgive you. Then, you need to renounce the words that they spoke over you, in the name of Jesus.

This is not intended to come across harshly, so if it does seem that way, please understand that it is out of concern that these words are spoken! We care for each and every one of you and we want the very best for you. So sometimes we will speak things that need to be heard, even though they might not be popular.

Flee from evil and hold tight to your freedom in Christ.

You are loved.
