Tag: What the Bible says about being the salt of the earth

Bible Verse of The Day – 6-13-23

Matthew 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Fellow believers, do you want to know our call?

It’s very simple; to be the salt and light of the world.

Our call is to influence and penetrate a secular society for the good; to reach the lost.

We must stay close to God by feeding our spirit with His word daily. This helps us to keep our flavor and our spark, and keep our brightness strong.

There is no time for us to let down our guard. We must remember that this journey here on earth is only for a season. And it doesn’t last nearly as long as we think it will.

That is the amount of time we are here on this earth. Our rest comes when we go to our heavenly home. Until then, we work. We press in, and we push forward.

Let us get up each day with a song of praise in our heart and a determined will to do good, and to light up this earth with our “God-given influence of love” and leave an impression wherever we step foot!

God is our light. He lives within us. We can’t be afraid to speak up, to pray for others, to encourage one another and to glorify Him through our actions!

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-17-22

Matthew 5:13 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Our life will affect others in a positive or negative way.

If we are a Christian, but not living right, our actions will show it. People around us will think, “boy, they are Christians and they are no different than we are”.

Our fruit will show us and them who we belong to.

I have been focusing on watching my tongue and also how I treat others more so than ever. It’s been very challenging at times, I will say. It’s hard to stay calm when I see or hear certain things.
But God keeps reminding me, “you don’t know what they have been through or where they are at in their walk”. He is gently reminding me that no one is perfect; not even me.

Being the salt of the earth is really just focusing on our walk with God and cleaning some things up as He leads us.

That’s when we will draw closer to Him and He will draw near to us.

He will point out those things we tend to overlook. He will be there to help us overcome the things that seem to get in our way in building a deeper relationship with Him.

Let’s face it, we need Him and each other to get stronger in our walk and to be the salt of the earth.

Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV) 17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-3-18

Matthew 5:13 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Being the salt of the earth takes getting our hearts right with God. Our hearts cannot be salty if we continue to do the things that put distance between us and the One who seasons us.

The closer we get to God, the more flavorful we will become. The further we get away from Him, the weaker we are, and we may not have any flavor at all. And that may be why the things we speak to others seem powerless and weak.

What we let God help us with, and the areas where we let Him change our hearts will depend on our salt level.

God seasons and strengthens us as we go to Him and obey what He may be asking us to change. He is our “Flavor Changer”, our “Salter”, so to speak.

How seasoned do we want to be?

The time we spend with Him will determine our strength level.

Isaiah 35:3 (NKJV) 3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.

Bible Verse of The Day – 12-28-17

Matthew 5:13 (NKJV) 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

There is much to be gleaned from this verse.

If we really look at it and let God speak to us, He will reveal the truth of this verse to us, and it will be life-changing.

Salt is something that everyone is familiar with. It’s one of the most common seasonings in the entire world.

Salt changes the flavor of everything it is used on or in. Everything. And the change is usually very noticeable.

Jesus has told us that we are the salt of the earth. We really need to get understanding on this one.

As the salt of the earth, we should be bringing change everywhere we are present, to everyone we come into contact with.

Our presence in a place and our interactions with people should bring some kind of transformation or adjustment that can be seen or felt. It might not always be a major change, but there should be evidence of our presence in some way.

Salt changes the things it comes into contact with, even if the amount of salt is very small. But the things that touch salt do not change the salt easily.

Salt is strong. Its presence rarely goes unnoticed.

And so it should be with us. As the salt of the earth, we should be the “change bringers”… the ones who have a positive, lasting effect on others.

Just as salt is not easily changed by other things, we should also not be changed by others that we come into contact with, especially in a negative way or a way that’s not pleasing to God.

If we are being changed in a negative way, it would be safe to say that our walk with God is probably not where it needs to be. It’s time for us to let God check our heart and help us see where we have fallen back. And then we need to let Him put our feet back on His path and strengthen us by His spirit.

So, here’s the test that we can use to check ourselves.

Do we use language that we would never consider using before? Do we watch TV shows, movies or other forms of media that we would never have watched at an earlier time in our walk with God because we knew that it wasn’t right?

Do we act in different ways now than we would have acted at an earlier season in our lives? Do we find certain things acceptable that we previously thought were unacceptable?

This is usually evidence of us compromising God’s standards and allowing others to influence us, instead of us influencing them.

We would like to appeal to you today to let God show you where you’re at. Where is our heart compared to where it was 6 months ago, a year ago or two years ago? Are we changing the world? Or is the world changing us?
