Tag: What the Bible says about God’s mercy being new every morning

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-15-24

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

We are all frail, fickle, wishy-washy human beings.

We are prone to failure.

We are prone to making bad choices.

We are prone to disappointing God in our actions.

But because of His mercies, we are not destroyed.

Because He is faithful, His mercies are new every morning.

If we fall, we get back up. If we fail, we try again.

You see, we are saved by grace, not by works. It is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

God doesn’t ask for perfection. He asks for obedience.

Should we try to fail less often? Absolutely.

Christianity without growth is questionable.

When a person becomes a Christian, growth is implied. God never intended for someone to become His child and not mature.

But it’s not those efforts to grow that save us. We can’t buy our redemption. We can’t bribe God with manufactured righteousness.

And if we do stupid stuff, a sincere heart of repentance, and a genuine effort to change is all God asks for.

As the scripture says at the beginning of this devotional, because of His mercies, we are not consumed.

So, if you’re struggling to get it right, if you’re wrestling with sin or a complacent spirit, don’t beat yourself up.

Recognize it in yourself and surrender it to God. Submit yourself to Him and follow His leading.

He will show us what to do. We just need to do it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 11-17-18

Psalm 30:5 (NKJV) 5  For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Every day is a new beginning. We can go to bed at night crying our eyes out from things that have happened throughout our day, and by morning we are revived. We are ready to go and start all over.

Don’t let yesterday’s mess ups, mistakes or wrongdoings stick with us or define us. Let us learn, and make wise decisions. Let us turn away from the things we know that caused us havoc, chaos and confusion.

We need to start from the beginning and make this day what we want it to be.

God loves us and want us to keep on going and not look back.

Let His joy fill our hearts today. He is good!

Psalm 106:1 (NKJV) 1 Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Bible Verse of The Day – 8-19-15

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV) 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

His mercies are new every morning.

Every day we arise and set about our daily tasks and routines.

Along the way, we make choices and decisions. Some of our choices are good ones, while others aren’t so good. We step outside of God’s desires for us. We sin. We make a mess sometimes.

As believers, God is calling us to rise up and put our sinful ways behind us. He desires for us to live holy lives.

But, if we mess up (and we all do), all is not lost!

God’s mercies don’t end on a certain day or at a certain time. They are fresh and new every morning!

So each day, as we arise and start fresh, we are given a clean, white sheet of paper that we can write that day’s story on. We simply need to genuinely repent (turn from our sin) and ask Him to forgive us. And He will.

We are not condemned by our sin if we  bring it to Him, confess it and then turn from it.

So take that clean, white sheet of paper and write a new story today. At the end of the day, what will be written on your  sheet of paper?

It’s up to you!
