Bible Verse of The Day – 1-18-13

(Exodus 3:13-14 NKJV)  Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” {14} And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”

I am who I am. What an awesome statement God made to Moses!

Moses asked God a question, hoping for an answer that would satisfy his own curiosities, as well as the questions he was sure to get from the Israelites. He said to God, “Who shall I say has sent me?”

Of course Moses was hoping for a clear-cut answer. But I love what God said to Him; “I am who I am”. Now that threw Moses off a bit. So he asked God again, “who shall I say has sent me?”

“I AM”. See, God doesn’t need to explain Himself to anyone. He doesn’t need to explain where He came from, why He does what He does, or How He became who He is. He Just Is.

God Just Is.

When I think about who God is, I think about that aspect of Him a lot. He Just Is. He doesn’t need to be explained. He Just Is. He doesn’t have to answer to anyone or bow to demands or commands. He Just Is.

If we can accept this fact and then trust Him for who He is, how much easier would our lives be? How much less would we stress and worry? How much more faith would we have in Him? How much stronger would we be as His children?

Think about that today and know that God Is Who He Is. And that’s enough.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-17-13

(Matthew 18:11 NKJV)  “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost“.

We lost it! It was our doing in the garden.

That’s right… woman and man, man and woman. We messed up the plan as we disobeyed God, by eating of the fruit from the tree that was forbidden. It was not something to take lightly, that’s for sure. We were not going to have it easy after that ordeal.

Our relationship with Him was destroyed that day. But God, in all His Mercy and Goodness, sent His Son to save that which was lost. Our sinful nature was so bad; He could not be near us.  But, the love that He has for us saved us!

Thank you God, for your love for us and for Your  Son, who was willing to come and was crucified that we may be able to get back what was lost in the garden; our relationship with You!

As a young child, I always believed in God… that He was the Creator of this world. I believed that He loved me, and I believed He cared about me. But, that was not going to get me to Heaven or give me a relationship with Him.

What was going to get me to heaven was believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, and trusting in Him to live in me, to change me and make me the person He wants me to be.

Knowing about God has not saved me. Believing that God exists cannot save me. That’s not enough. What saved me and what saves us all is believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice that He made for us on the cross.

We have a personal Savior that has made it right so we can walk with God once again. Believe in Him today, if you haven’t already; make the best decision you’ll ever make.

Choose Jesus Christ as your personal Savior!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-16-13

(Matthew 23:12 NKJV)  “And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

We live in a day and age when people tend to think more of themselves than we should. We are taught from a very young age to take pride in ourselves and our accomplishments.

Society as a whole has fallen into teaching children that they need to put themselves above others and have much esteem in their works.

Self esteem has become the big byword of the past couple of decades. This is exactly the opposite of what God teaches us.

God wants us to put Him first and ourselves after that. In fact, God prefers that we put others even before ourselves in many cases.

It’s very easy to be persuaded to follow the teachings of these modern times because we are inundated with it, day after day. But we don’t need to fall into the trap of the enemy and become prideful. For pride is the beginning of destruction and the enemy of God.

(Romans 12:3 NKJV)  For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Don’t let pride and thinking more highly of ourselves creep into our lives and become a part of us. Put God first and love Him above all else and He will help you prioritize everything else.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-15-13

(John 5:30 NKJV)  “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me“.

Jesus is saying here that as He seeks the will of His Father, His judgment is made righteous.

Think about how many times we just simply make our own decisions and our own judgments, by our own will, at any given time. As we make decisions based on our own will, we are going to get just that… our own willful results. That is why at times we end up unhappy or disappointed and in places or situations we wish we could change.

Seeking after God’s will in making decisions or judgments will cause us to make righteous choices because God is righteous in all He does!

It’s a New Year and a good time to start seeking God’s will in making decisions or judgments. Let’s get His righteousness working in our lives even more. As we begin to seek His will, we will feel His peace even if we aren’t quite sure how it will all come about.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-14-13

(2 Corinthians 6:17 NKJV)  Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”

We’re going to start this week off on a very serious note. This is not a message of condemnation, but one that is a loving reminder for us all.

We are here in this world. God has placed us here for a season. So many times the things of this world pull on us with such a strong force that it seems impossible to resist. We can so easily get pulled into things that are quite opposite what God wants for us.

And before we know it, we’re running headlong down a path that we never thought we would walk on, never mind being familiar with.

Today, right now, right this minute, it’s time to make a decision and leave those things behind… those things that have pulled you away from God. Those things that aren’t pleasing to God. Those things that cause the spirit of God in you to grieve every time you participate in them.

(Romans 12:2 NKJV)  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

God is calling you right now to lay them down and give them to Him. And surrender yourself to Him once again, and let Him bring healing to your heart. Nothing is too big for Him and nothing shocks or surprises Him. So don’t be afraid to tell Him about what you’ve done.

Do it now, before another day passes you by. You need this. It will bring healing to your heart and your soul.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-12-13

(Philippians 4:23 NKJV)  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

As you read this, let God’s grace flow over you and through you. Let it give you the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

Let God’s grace give you rest in your times of trial and testing. Let it bring you joy when you feel like you have no joy left in you.

Let His grace put a smile in your heart and a spring in your step, knowing that all things are in His hands.

Let His grace bring you a knowing in your spirit that no matter what comes your way, the enemy will never prevail over you.

Rest in Him today and know that He is lord over all. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-11-13

(Psalm 150:4 NKJV)  Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

There are many ways that we can praise Him! Some of us like to sing, others like to play an instrument, and there are some of us that like to dance.

I love to dance! My husband, on the other hand, loves to sing. All day long he has his music going and he sings those songs from his heart and knows them all.

Me? Well I’ll put a good song on with a beat and dance away. We are different individuals praising God in different ways than each other. Is my praise any better or more meaningful to God than his praises through song? No. Not at all. It’s just the way we enjoy praising God as individuals.

Break out in praise today to God. If you like singing, start singing! If you are like me, kick off those shoes and dance a dance of praise unto to the Lord. If you like to play an instrument, just play that instrument with all your heart to the Lord.

Have fun in praising God. Enjoy it… He loves our praises!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-10-13

(Philippians 4:4 NKJV)  Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

We have two words for everyone today. The first is “Rejoice”!

No matter what we are facing, we need to learn to rejoice. When you feel like the whole world is against you, Rejoice! Be thankful for your blessings… the little things. Don’t get caught up in the negative, but thanks God for the good things.

The Israelites spent 40 years making a 12-day journey. Why? Because they grumbled and complained, instead of rejoicing.

(Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV)  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; {7} and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

And as you rejoice, “be anxious for nothing”. Bring your requests to God and be thankful! Make your requests known and then rest in Him, knowing that His peace can overcome any kind of turmoil that tries to overtake you.

God’s peace can’t be understood or comprehended by our minds. But it will carry us through the storms and bring us safely to the other side where we can celebrate our victory in Christ.

Rejoice and rest in Him.

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-9-13

(Proverbs 1:10 NKJV)  My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.

Very simple verse isn’t it? Very simple and to the point.

But, is it simple to do when we’re around our family, friends, or co-workers; others that don’t know better? Is it easy to pull away? Sometimes we forget that all we have to do is just walk away, or say no.

When we involve ourselves with those that need Jesus, we need to be careful that we don’t get caught up in the way they are living as we witness to them.

We can be a witness to unbelievers by saying no to what they do and yet still be there for them when they need us. If we begin to feel that what they are doing is starting to influence us, then it is time to pull back and take a break.

We need to be built up in Christ when dealing with the unsaved. He will give us the strength, wisdom and understanding that we need. We just need to listen for His voice.

If our walk with Him is not strong and we struggle with our own issues, but someone is asking us for help, that is when we have to be mature enough in Christ to realize we need to point them to someone else that is better able to help them, rather than to try to do it ourselves.

We have seen people try to help others when they weren’t strong enough to handle it. What happened to them? They got dragged down into the pit and that is where they sat, with the ones that they were originally trying to help.

God’s gives us His wisdom and common sense. We just need to listen and do what He shows us to do. His way is always best!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-8-13

(Revelation 3:15-16 NKJV)  “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. {16} “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth“.

Being lukewarm is never a good thing. Whether it’s in the natural or spiritually, being hot or cold is always preferred.

There are so many implications in these verses. Some are very straight forward, while others are symbolic. Either way, though, God makes it pretty clear that he wants us to be either hot or cold, but not in between.

Being in between is kind of like being gray, similar to saying that some sin is OK and some sin isn’t. Again, God is very clear that sin is sin and none of it is OK with Him.

We need to always be “checking our temperature”. Our walk with God should never be forced, but it does require effort on our part. If we feel that we aren’t as close to God as we once were, it’s a good idea to figure out why.

Most times, if we are further away from God than we were at some point in the past, it’s usually due to one of two things; sin in our lives, or complacency.

The sin doesn’t always have to be something terrible. It can be something we have done, or even something we haven’t done, such as not forgiving someone for something.

Complacency can also creep in and cause us to drift from God. A little deliberate effort to “get back on the path” will help a lot in this situation.

How hot is your flame burning for God? Let’s let God take our temperature today and show us where we’re at with Him!

Bible Verse of The Day – 1-7-13

(John 15:5 NKJV)  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

How do we know that a minister, teacher, evangelist, etc. are good and that their ministry lines up properly with the word of God? We look at the fruit that comes fourth. If he or she is abiding in Christ, it will show.

Now, we all know that no one is perfect, therefore there will be mistakes made at times, even in leadership. Leaders are human. What is important to watch for is that they make an effort to correct their mistakes. This will be the difference between someone truly abiding in Christ and someone just using God’s name for their own gain.

Those who are not abiding in Christ are doing nothing more than practicing empty religion. These types of people love the scriptures and they can often quote quite a bit of what the Word says. They have head knowledge, but what they lack is the heart to heart, one on one relationship with Jesus Christ himself. Therefore their fruit may look good on the outside but when biting into it, it’s quite sour.

So always be sure to look for the fruit… good fruit!
