Bible Verse of The Day – 10-18-13

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Are we waiting on the Lord today for some things to change in our situation? Are we waiting for Him to restore our marriage? Are we waiting for Him to help save our backsliding friend or family member, or maybe we are waiting for a financial breakthrough, a new job, or for someone to treat us right, etc.?

As long as we are waiting on the Lord for His answer or for His change, and we remain open to how and when He wants to do it, WE shall WIN! Amen

Today, if you are waiting on the Lord… you will be Strong. You will mount up with wings as eagles, you will RUN and not be weary, You will WALK and not faint!

Go forward in Christ today, do what He tells you to do and be STRONG with renewed strength.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-17-13

Exodus 20:3 (NKJV) “You shall have no other gods before Me.

No other gods… idols. Things that we put before God or hold up to the same level as God with worship or reverence.

This is a topic that we like to touch on every once in a while, just to give us all a reminder as to where our worship and affections should be directed.

There are so very many things that can pull on us and try to grab our attention and affections, even to the point of trying to take the place of God!

Now most of these things will never appear to be like God. Instead, they are things that we get caught up in that end up climbing our list of priorities higher and higher until they have consumed us.

This can apply to things we do, things we buy or even people we love or idolize. And it can even apply to people related to our faith or our walk with God. How about pastors, worship leaders, famous Christian musicians or actors/actresses? Do we hold any of them up higher than we should?

And let’s not forget about biblical figures. People in the Bible were flesh and bone, just like you and I, but there are people and even entire denominations who hold some of these people up to the point of reverencing them or even praying to them.

We need to remember that they were frail humans just like us. They made mistakes, just like us. They committed sins and crimes, just like us. They were men and women used by God, but they were just human beings, just like us!

God alone deserves our worship and praise and it is to Him alone that we should be praying and giving reverence! If we are being taught anything contrary to this, we need to compare it to God’s word and see how it lines up.

I know this might come across as a scolding or something written in anger, but it is truly not. Written words can sometimes be hard to decipher when it comes to the actual tone intended by the writer.

But know that these words are written in love and as a gentle nudge for all of us to check where we stand and who our worship is being directed to.

Be strong and bold in your faith!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-16-13

Psalm 100:5 (NKJV) For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Sometimes we hear others say this and sometimes we may even think it; “why would God allow bad things to happen?”

He is able to stop certain things from happening. So why doesn’t He?

Just to ease our minds today and put some things to rest, this verse tells us who God is. He is GOOD! We couldn’t have asked for a better GOD! He is everything we need; He loves us and is good to us.

Today, put those questions away. We may not understand why things happen the way they do at times, but understand that the Lord is GOOD and He is NOT to be blamed for bad things happening!

Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-15-13

1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV) For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus…

Have you ever been in or seen a situation where two people, or two groups of people, couldn’t seem to get along or reach an agreement on an important matter? Communication has broken down to the point where they just can’t seem to relate to each other.

Sadly, this happens a lot. And when it gets to the point where there is an impasse and the two parties can’t do anything further to solve their differences, a person known as a mediator is brought in to help them solve their differences and bridge the gap in their communication breakdown.

God has done the same thing for us. As human beings, our sin causes a divide between Him and us. It’s a gap that we can never bridge or cross on our own.

Because we have nothing in ourselves that can help us overcome this divided condition, God created a way for us.

Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, the Chosen One, left His place in heaven, took human form and walked the earth for 33 years and then died a brutal death to build a bridge between us and the Father.

On the 3rd day after His death, He rose again and walked among men for a short time before ascending back to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father.

Jesus’ death was a sacrifice to pay the price for our sins. His resurrection broke the curse of death over our lives.

Jesus was the mediator between God and man. His ultimate sacrifice (death) is the bridge that gives us direct access to God, the Father.

If you are far away from God, go to Him today. The bridge has been built. We just need to cross it.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-14-13

Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV) When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

There are many things that we can use to judge our walk with God. Some of them may be more difficult to discern than others.

But there is one thing for sure. If we are in constant turmoil with everyone around us, we might need to check our walk with our Father and see where we’re going wrong.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace, so if we’re following Him and His ways, peace should be a big part of our lives.

Does peace reign in your life?

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-12-13

Proverbs 15:16 (NKJV) Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble.

Many people spend years of their lives chasing wealth. Sadly, a large percentage of those people never find it. When this happens, it can make some people quite miserable.

For other people, they choose to be content with what they have and not constantly longing after what they don’t have. These people are usually quite happy.

There is nothing wrong with wealth, but making the pursuit of it your primary focus can cause you to become unhappy and discontent.

Many times, people with great wealth also have great trouble. There’s just something about having a lot of money that seems to invite it, especially when people don’t understand how to handle that money.

So if you haven’t been blessed with abundant finances, don’t fall for the temptation to make gaining great wealth your primary focus in life.

We need to learn to be content with what we have before we pursue anything more. Once we learn to be content, then we are on our way to being ready for more.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-11-13

(Psalm 98:1 NKJV)  Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.

Sing to the Lord a NEW song!

How do we make a new song to the Lord? Has God done things in our lives that we can testify about? Put a melody to your victory or your testimony and create a new song to Him!

Oh how He loves to hear us. Don’t be afraid, feeling like we can’t sing good. Do it for Him and let Him hear our new song today!!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-10-13

(John 3:6 NKJV)  “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

The Spirit of God is birthed in us when we repent of our sins and we ask His Son, Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior. He comes in and, from there, we let Him change our heart and transform us into the person He wants us to be.

The flesh will begin to change as we let God’s Spirit grow within us, through reading His Word and praying.

The difference between the flesh and the Spirit is as God’s word says…

(Galatians 5:19-23 NKJV)  Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, {20} idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, {21} envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

{22} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, {23} gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

When you are born of the Spirit, you have flesh and Spirit living together in your body. In order to have peace, God’s Spirit must be ruler. Therefore the flesh must come under submission to the Spirit of God.

Let God’s Spirit be the ruler in your heart today!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-9-13

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV) 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

The verses above have a very broad implication, especially with regard to end times teachings.

Today, though, we’re going to look at them on more of a personal level. We’re going to take a look at how they can apply to each and every one of us, either directly, because of behavior in our own lives, or indirectly, due to someone that we know who may be in this boat.

So what does it mean to “heap up teachers for themselves”?

Basically, it means that if we’re having troubles or struggles in our life, instead of seeking out sound counsel, we will look for people who will tell us what we want to hear, either to make us feel better about ourselves, or to try to justify something that we’re doing that we know deep down is wrong.

This doesn’t always mean that we’re doing something immoral or unethical. It just means that we’ve strayed from the path that God has set before us and we’re doing what we need to do to avoid getting back on that path.

Now, if this applies to us, we simply need to own up to it and let God show us where we need to be corrected. But if it’s someone else that we know, let’s be careful not to judge them or throw stones at them!

So let’s not heap up teachers for ourselves. Instead, let’s incline our ear toward God and let Him speak to us and teach us!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-8-13

(Psalm 71:14 NKJV)  But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.

Never give up. God is faithful!

If you are going through a tough time today and you feel alone, and there is nothing and no one that can help you through, God can and He will!

It’s in times like these that we have to reach deep inside of ourselves and begin to praise Him even more. This is like a breaking point, when we can begin to praise God more and more even though we are in a very hard trial and everything is crashing down around us.

This shows God how much we trust Him!

Don’t give up on God; praise Him and continue to have hope in Him.

He will come through for you!! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-7-13

2 Samuel 12 (NKJV) Then the Lord sent Nathan to David…

The verse shown above is just the beginning of an exchange that took place between Nathan, the prophet of God, and King David. God had sent Nathan to David to chasten David and expose the evil that he had done.

God chose to have Nathan confront David in a way that wasn’t confrontational at all, but used wisdom, instead, to help David see his error.

God will sometimes use people to help us see where we’ve gone wrong because there are many times when we want to hide our sins and try our hardest to pretend that they don’t exist.

In one other instance, God actually caused a donkey to speak, to rebuke a man (Numbers 22:21-31). So we never know who God might choose to use to speak to us and give us direction in our lives.

But the worst thing we can do is either ignore the instruction or correction, or argue with the person bringing it to us. Sometimes it can be hard to see our own faults and our own sin. And other times we just plain don’t want to admit when we’ve done wrong.

But we can be sure that if we’re following God, He will do whatever is needed to correct us and bring our feet back onto the right path.
