BIble Verse of The Day – 7-6-15

Psalm 51:17 (NKJV) 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.

In today’s society, broken things get tossed aside… hidden away or disposed of because they are thought to be of no use.

Sometimes we might feel like we’re broken and of no use to anyone. We’ve made mistakes, bad choices and just blown it all the way around. And now we’re laying flat on our back, looking up.

We might even feel like it’s all over and nobody can love us. We might feel like even God can’t help us.

We feel like we’re through. We just want to throw in the towel and forget about everything.

But God loves it when we’re broken before Him!

No, it’s not that He loves to see us hurting. Not at all. But until we are broken before Him, He can never really use us!

You see, we have to reach the end of ourselves before God can take what’s left, rebuild it and breathe new life into it and then make us into who He wants us to be.

Then, and only then can He mold us, shape us and clean up those rough edges and make something brand new out of us.

So if you feel like you’re broken and useless, and worn out from life’s battles, take heart! Because you’re really only just beginning.

And new beginnings are God’s specialty.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-4-15

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NKJV) 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart,I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Our hearts produce different kinds of fruit, either good or bad.

To be more consistent in producing good fruit, we need to let God work in our hearts. Some areas we will need to let Him soften it and in other areas we may need Him to strengthen it, etc.

Walking with God takes self-control, one of the many fruits of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Let’s take a look at self-control.

What does it mean to have self-control? It means to exercise restraint over one’s own impulses, emotions, or desires.

The Holy Spirit will help us in this area, as we give Him dominion over our impulses, emotions and our desires.

It may be hard at times, but know that as we follow after God’s heart and walk in self control, we will produce good fruit and He will give to us according to our fruit. Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-3-15

Philippians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

I learned a valuable lesson today.

We’ve taught on these verses several times in the past, but today I learned even more from them, so I wanted to pass it along to all of you 🙂

I learned even more today about what it means to be content. And I learned that sometimes we need to adjust our thinking in order to be content.

Sometimes we tend to look at what we don’t have, or maybe even what we used to have. Looking at what we used to have might happen if we have gone through a season of famine or loss.

As we recover from that season of loss, we need to realize that it takes time to get back on our feet and to a point where no longer feel defeated or inadequate.

So instead of looking back at where we were or what we had, we need to look at how far we have come and what we have been able to accomplish since that time of famine or loss.

Once we get this into our heads, then we can begin to look forward, look ahead, to that next step on our way to recovery.

And during this entire process, we need to continually be thanking God for His provision and for bringing us through the storm, even if we may have some battle scars from it.

As we learn to be content and thankful, then we will be prepared for whatever God has for us next.

This doesn’t usually come easy and it definitely doesn’t happen overnight. But if we don’t give up and we don’t grow weary we will be blessed and reap a harvest.

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-2-15

Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV) 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Are you sorrowful?

Has your situation got you down?

Are you walking around with your eyes to the ground, sorrowful and sullen?

Are you feeling weak?

Lift up your head!

If your strength is gone, your joy is probably gone too. If we want our strength back, we need to get our joy back.

Life and the enemy will do everything possible to steal our joy. And when we lose our joy, we lose our strength.

So it’s time for us to get our eyes off of our circumstances and back on God, our source. When we do this, we thwart the plans of the enemy and destroy his schemes against us.

Today, lift your head and look toward heaven. And thank the Father above for His grace, mercy, compassion and provision.

And take joy in knowing that no weapon formed against you shall prosper!

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-1-15

Hebrews 3:4 (NKJV) 4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.

Sometimes it may seem like the world is nothing more than a mad ball of chaos.

There is a constant, ongoing battle between good and evil. And many times it seems like evil might be winning, as we see what appear to be victories for the enemy all around us.

But we live here on the earth. And the earth was built by God, our heavenly Father. This is His house… His project. Therefore it has to abide by His word and His rules. So nothing that happens here shocks Him or causes Him to abdicate His throne.

We are the inhabitants of His creation, this earthly kingdom. As His children, we are also present and future inhabitants of His spiritual kingdom, here, on earth and later, in Heaven.

As His children, we have a responsibility to oversee what he has entrusted to us, in the natural and in the spiritual realms.

In the natural, we need to care for the earth and the material things He blesses us with.

In the spiritual realm, we need to do battle with those unseen forces of evil. Sometimes this will require us to stand and speak out, and be seen and heard by others.

But other times it requires us to do warfare in the spirit, without anyone else ever seeing or hearing from us. The only exception would be the devil. When we engage in spiritual warfare, he should feel the repercussions.

So with everything that’s happening in the world these days, if you’re not sure whether to speak out or not, the very least we should do is pray; rebuke the powers of darkness, bind demons and loose God’s freedom in the earth. Pray in the Spirit and push the enemy back with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 16:19 (NKJV) 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Let’s use the weapons that God has entrusted us with.
