Bible Verse of The Day – 7-18-15

Romans 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

The outdoors is an incredible place to become aware of God’s wondrous work.

I get to spend a fair amount of time on lakes in the area where we live, pursuing my favorite species of fish. During that time on the water, I connect with God in a truly unique way, completely uninterrupted by typical everyday distractions.

We also get to eat meals on our back deck fairly regularly, allowing us to see the forest behind our home and hear the incredible birds singing their beautiful songs.

These types of things keep me in constant awe of our Creator. His handiwork is so abundant around us. It gives me incredible joy and peace to see it, hear it and experience it up close and personal.

These things that we see are proof of our Father’s existence. They show us who He is simply by seeing, listening and experiencing His creation.

It’s important that we take the time to enjoy this beauty and take it in, giving Him the glory and praise for building such a wonderful place for us to spend our lives.

Stop for a few minutes today and look around. Even if you live in a city, there are still plants to see, birds to watch and the sky above.

Gaze on them and thank God for what He has blessed us with.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-17-15

Romans 5:1-4 (NKJV) 5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

We have peace with God through Jesus Christ.

Our faith in Christ gives us some pretty special privileges. Through our faith in Him, we can have peace in every situation. We can rest, knowing that we are God’s child, and no matter what comes our way, we can trust God and hold to Him for security.

Having peace in times of trials and tribulations isn’t always easy, but as we draw closer to God and build our relationship with Him, we understand Him better. And that understanding helps us to see things in a different light, and from a different point of view.

There may be times when we feel like peace just can’t be found. We may wrestle with some of the things that come our way. But, ultimately, if we trust God with it, He will bring us through it with victory.

He may define that victory or bring it about differently than we might think, but as we learn to trust Him, we will see that His way is always better than our ways.

So press in to Him today. Lean on Him and draw your strength from Him. He will never let us down.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-16-15

James 1:21 (NKJV) 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

This scripture is pretty self explanatory. Simply stay away from or stop doing those things that are not right.

I remember when a man said to me one day “Even when you’re not saved, you know right from wrong. There is this feeling you get on the inside and you just know it.”

This was a man that went through a lot of stuff growing up as a child and during his teenage years. He was in a very dark place, but has since given his life to Christ and is a different man today. He lives a good life.

We know when something is not right; we can’t deny it. We can ignore it, but we can not deny that feeling and that knowing on the inside.

God gave us a way to get out of any bad situation or wrong conversations. He gave us two legs. Let us learn to walk away from filth and wickedness. When we stand there and listen and laugh about the things we know are not right, we are joining in whether we wanted to or not.

Spending time in His Word will change our hearts, transform us and renew our minds, and it will give us the strength we need to do what is right.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-15-15

Numbers 13:30 (NKJV) 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

Let us go up at once and take possession!

Caleb had been one of the twelve Israelites who had been sent to spy out the land that God had promised them.

The land was everything God had said it would be, rich with produce and fertile for sustaining life. The fruit that they had brought back to show the others was huge in comparison to normal fruit. It took multiple men to carry it back.

And as they met with Moses and discussed what they had seen, the majority of the men spoke against moving in to take the land. in addition to the incredible bounty of the land, they had seen the inhabitants of the land, and they were very, very big.

In fact, some of them were giants.

But Caleb was not deterred. He knew what God had promised them and was ready to go after it and claim it, even though the majority of the others spoke against doing so.

God has put some things before every one of us. Some of them are very important in our lives and can, in fact, be life-changing.

Most of them will require defeating some giants in order for us to lay claim and take possession of them.

We have a choice. We can shrink back in fear and stay where we are, “wandering in the desert”. Or we can pursue those things and face those giants, defeat them and claim what God has put before us.

Which one will we choose? The choice is ours.

Bible Verse of The Day – 5-14-15

Psalm 18:6 (NKJV) 6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.

Keep pressing in to God. He has a plan for your life. We are praying for God’s answer and direction to come to you.

Some of you are struggling in your marriage and you don’t know what to do. God knows and has the answers to the problem. Get with Him.

Some are struggling financially; you need money and a job, and don’t know what job to go after. God knows. Get with Him.

Some are struggling with your children and their rebellion, trying to raise them on your own and you have no clue how to handle them at this point. You are exhausted and overwhelmed by it all. God knows. Get with Him.

Some of you are struggling with health issues, you are on the verge of throwing in the towel and giving up on believing that He will heal you. You think He has forgotten you and that you deserve whatever sickness you have. God knows what is causing your symptoms. Get with Him.

Some are trying to have children and can’t for some time now. You’re on the verge of giving up and accepting that it’s not meant for you. God knows. Get with Him.

Prayer is powerful. Cry out to Him today. He hears your cry. He will answer you.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-13-15

Matthew 9:22 (NKJV) 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.

Your faith has made you well!

The woman in the verse above had a problem with menstrual bleeding for 12 years. In those days, according to The Law, women were looked upon as being unclean and not allowed to be around people during their menstrual cycle. But in order to get to Jesus and get her healing, she had to push through a crowd of people to get close to Him and touch His garment.

She was putting herself at risk just by being out among people during this time.

But, having faith will cause us to get up and move. It will cause us to take action! If we say we have faith, but we do nothing, then our faith is nothing more than words.

Many times there is a role we will play in getting our healing.

We need to press in and touch Jesus. Get personal. Get one on one with Him and get His plan; the role or action we need to take.

The first step is to have faith and believe that God can and will heal our body or help us with the situation we are in. It doesn’t matter who we are, where we come from or what we’ve done wrong. We need to repent, turn from it and ask for help.

Second step; press in. Spend time with Him, learning and growing. Our goal is to get close to Him and not just learn about Him, but to get to know Him. The closer we get, the more clear His plan becomes.

Third step; don’t be afraid to ask God how to take the steps of action that we need to take to get our healing or the solution to our problem, and then follow all the way through.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-11-15

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

As followers of Christ, He has told us that we need to give. It’s part of who we are as believers.

The importance of this has somehow been minimalized over the centuries, and in today’s world of high pressure and keeping up with the Joneses, giving has been pushed to the back burner and deemed something that we do only if “we can afford to”.

We want to remind everyone that giving is something that we can’t afford not to do.

Giving unlocks the doors to receiving. It’s a spiritual law set in place by God himself.

And no, we aren’t claiming that giving will result in overflowing bank accounts. God says to give and we will receive. It doesn’t always mean that we will get money.

Sometimes we receive time and care from others. Sometimes we receive help when we need it. Sometimes we receive comfort when we’re troubled. And sometimes we will receive finances.

God knows what we need and when we need it.

So we all need to remember, and make a conscious decision to give. We need to fight off the natural tendency to want to hold tightly to what we have, and learn to give some of it away.

After all, it all belongs to God anyway.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-10-15

James 2:18-20 (NKJV) 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

This is a foundational principle of our relationship with God.

We hear so much talk about faith. We can hear about it on TV, the radio and on the Internet. Sometimes it might seem like we’re getting overwhelmed by faith messages.

Faith is good. Without it, we have no relationship with God. Without it, it is impossible to please God.

But faith alone, by itself, isn’t good. Faith must be accompanied by works… things that we do in the natural that prove that we have faith.

If we say we have faith, but we don’t walk it out in the things we do, then our faith is no more than just a wish or an idea.

Faith must  be displayed in our lives by helping others, giving to others and loving those around us. If we say we have faith, yet we can’t love our neighbor or pray for our enemy, then our faith is weak and feeble, at best.

This is a hard teaching. It’s one that can cause some people to get offended. It’s not all about warm fuzzies or goosebumps. But it’s one that needs to be taught and one that we all need to hear and heed.

God wants the very best for each and every one of us. And this is why He will sometimes put things in front of us that challenge us and cause us to grow, even if it’s sometimes hard to swallow.

So let’s ask God today to show us where our faith is weak, and then ask Him to help us build our faith muscles and start walking it out in our works.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-9-15

Deuteronomy 10:17 (NKJV) 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.

Let’s take some time today and check ourselves and our behavior toward others, to make sure that we are not showing partiality or taking bribes to do things a certain way for certain people.

We have to be careful that we don’t treat a person better than we treat someone else just because we may like the way they carry themselves, or because maybe they do nice things for us, or they’re easy to get along with.

It’s good to check ourselves and ask God if we’re showing partiality at home, in the workplace, in the church, in the classroom, on our sports team, etc.

He will help us to stay balanced in this area, being fair and honest, no matter how much pressure gets put on us.

He is a great, mighty, awesome GOD! Amen.

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-8-15

Romans 16:19-21 (NKJV) 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Be wise in what is good and simple concerning evil.

So much confusion has been created by the enemy. Many things that are evil are no longer recognized as such because people have bought the lies of the enemy.

Black is no longer black and white is no longer white. There are now so many shades of gray that people have trouble recognizing things for what they are.

But God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. And He has told us that if we stay wise in what is good and simple concerning evil, He will crush satan under our feet.

God wants to crush satan under our feet, but so many times we make it hard for Him to do so because of our choices. Because, so many times, we fail to recognize evil for what it is, we continue to open the door to it and let it waltz right into our lives over and over again.

Sometimes we might even use the excuse that “it’s not as bad as” such and such, and name off something that we feel is worse than what we happen to be doing.

As God’s children, followers of Christ, we need to let God show us what is evil and then we need not to argue with Him or try to justify the things that we do, just because we like to do them or because we don’t think it’s bad.

He shows us what’s right and what’s wrong and He does this to help us overcome evil in our lives, so we can live free and be victorious.

And I don’t know about you, but I personally like the idea of satan being crushed under my feet!

Bible Verse of The Day – 7-7-15

Matthew 24:35 (NKJV) 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

God’s word says everything else will pass away.

We cannot base our security and stability on anything other than God and His word.

The things we have right now may not be here tomorrow, next week or next month.

We tend to judge our stability on things, like our relationship with our family or our friends, children, finances, our business or our job, how big our church is or maybe in the position or title we have.

Any of these things can change in a moment, with no warning. It’s nice and enjoyable when everything is going smooth but don’t confuse that with security or stability.

I know. I have done it myself, and then one day it happened. A lot of what I thought I would have for some time to come was gone. I had a false feeling of security and all that I thought was stable went out the window before I even knew what was happening.

We better know this verse and hold onto what God promises if change comes. He says it’s true, that everything we know will pass away. It will happen, but My words will never pass away!

That means that no matter what else passes away, He is there and always will be!!

If you’re at rock bottom today, look up. He is right there with you. Reach out and let Him lift you up. You’ll bounce back, because He is faithful, stable and secure! Amen.
