Bible Verse of The Day – 10-6-15

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

When we fall in love with someone and we marry them, a team effort begins. Because we are about to learn things that we didn’t know about them before.

Sometimes there are little things about each other that can drive us crazy. When my husband and I were first married, he would get upset because I didn’t rinse the sink out after I got done brushing my teeth. I just didn’t think of it. No biggie, right?

I was 18 and he was 20. We were very young, but also very in love.

But, he would ask me to rinse it out and I didn’t give it too much thought, other than, “why should he get upset about that? He can just wipe it out if it bothers him!”

As time went by, he would just get very irritated about it. So one day he brought it up again and we argued over it for a bit.

How silly, right?

No. Not so silly. These are the things that show us whether or not we are listening and hearing each other. These things are the very things we have to work together on.

Even though it was small and insignificant to me, it bothered him. I needed to respect him and change up my habit, showing him that I care.

We need to listen to our spouse. Hear those little things that they say. It could make all the difference in our marriage.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-5-15

Psalm 40:1-2 (NKJV) 40 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, and heard my cry. 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.

God wants to be our deliverer. We just need to let Him be.

Struggles can teach us a lot; a lot about ourselves and a lot about who we trust. They can also teach us a lot about God, if we make the right choices.

We learn a lot about ourselves because we get to see ourselves under pressure. We get to see how we react to certain situations and how we react to the different things that come our way.

We also get to see where our trust lies. Is it in God, or is it in our own abilities and intellect?

God wants to deliver us from the things that are holding us prisoner. He really does. And He has the solution to every problem that we face. The problem is that we don’t always listen and watch for His words and His answers.

Why? Because we almost always think that things have to be done a certain way; the way we can understand them and figure them out.

We teach on this quite a bit, because it’s so important for us to get this, to understand it and to get it ingrained in our spirits, so that we live by it on a daily basis. Not just once in a while when we happen to have “a light bulb moment” where it finally clicks.

It’s hard, at first, because we can’t always figure it out and put it into a neat, tidy little box, where we like to keep God, so we can understand Him.

But, trust us when we tell you, we will never fully understand God or figure Him out. We can’t. He’s God. We’re not. His thoughts are so much higher than ours.

Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV) 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

So, today, stop wrestling with God and let Him set you free from the thing that’s holding you captive. Let Him break the chains that bind you and hold you down. But let Him do it His way.

And don’t be surprised if the way He chooses to do it doesn’t fit into a neat little mold!

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-3-15

Matthew 15:11 (NKJV) 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

What does defile mean?

Defile: To make unclean or impure: as to corrupt the purity or perfection of. To violate the chastity of: to make physically unclean especially with something unpleasant or contaminating.

It’s important that we understand it is the things in us, those things in our heart, that we need to surrender to God if we truly want to be changed.

We can say things and do things right all day long, but that is merely surface stuff. It is outward works.

If we don’t let God change the inside of us and help us to get deliverance in the areas where we need it, we will still be subject to things that can cause problems throughout our lives. Our walk with God and our relationships with others will continue to suffer.

What is in our very own heart can defile the good work that God is trying to do in us.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Let God put His finger on it today; on that thing that we’ve been hiding in our heart that keeps us in bondage. Our hearts need cleaning, that we may be steadfast in all that He has for us to do.

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-2-15

Mark 12:41-44 (NKJV) 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Giving is not optional, based on our level of income.

Many, many years ago we were going through a severe financial struggle. Part of it was due to over-obligating ourselves. The other part was due to the fact that the factory where I worked for 13 years had closed its doors and left me jobless.

Needless to say, the bills piled up pretty quickly!

We were not tithing at the time. We “couldn’t afford to” tithe. That was our logic. Until God got ahold of us and showed us the truth.

We heard a message about covenant and God heavily impressed upon us that we needed to enter into a covenant with Him regarding our finances. That afternoon, we piled our bills on our bed, repented and prayed over our bills. We asked God for His help and entered into a covenant with Him, vowing that we would tithe first, from everything that came into our home.

God heard us. He immediately went to work on our behalf. Long past-due medical bills suddenly had zero balances. Other bills were suddenly paid off for no reason. And our faith increased!

It took us 5 long years to get completely out of our mess, but God was with us every, single step of the way. We never went without.

And today we have learned even more about living in His provision for our lives. He amazes us every day, every week and every month. Our needs are met at every turn in the path of life.

Why? Because we put God first in everything, including our finances. Whether we have much or we have little, we give to God first. And He stands by His promise to us.

The widow in the verses above didn’t withhold giving because she had little, she gave in spite of her situation and her circumstances, and so should we.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Bible Verse of The Day – 10-1-15

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Training up our children; This is our responsibility. It’s not up to the church, the school systems, our parents, aunts and uncles, nanny, babysitter or daycare center, etc.

This training should be done by the parents or parent, in the home, a safe place where a child can come and freely ask questions and get good, Godly advice and answers.

God cares for our children more than we can imagine. We may feel like we are inadequate at times, but with His help and guidance, through His word and prayer, He will guide our steps.

James 1:5 (NKJV) 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Rest in Him today and let Him help us train up our children, with His wisdom, understanding and strength.

Our children need God!
